I'll be teaching mini stitch workshop sessions, where you can learn to free motion embroider on a sewing machine. 55 minute sessions for £20. Its Hampshire open studios on the 21st /22nd & 28th / 29th August I'm taking part in my new studio in Eastleigh with @thesortingofficestudios Come and try free motion embroidery in a 55minute session. A heat wave is coming! Currently documenting the Vaccination roll out at the Oxford Hospitals... I've had fun learning about the mamouth journey the team at The Horton and The Churchill hospital have been on in order to get the staff and the valnerable vaccinated. From the Jabbers, to the pharmacy, to the people who commute the vaccine from a to B, to the folk behind the emails and admin, it's been quite a feat of team effort. A huge Thank you to the NHS foundation Trust for commissioning me... ❤️ I am creating a series of stitched portraits celebrating individual roles of people behind the vaccination and also creating a large 'bayeux' stitch of the Story behind the Vaccination clinic for the John Radcliffe's hospital walls... Exhibition coming for Oxfordshire art weeks! We are on to a good thing! Feeling very privileged to exhibit in my home-town Watlington this May. Not only do I have an empty shop to occupy with both @kathrin49 and my work, I will also be premiering my new Travelling Gallery at my parents pub - the Spire and Spoke (a couple minutes walk away). It's incredible how many artists open there studio doors or team up to exhibit in such a small town! We have over 50 talented artists exhibiting over the 9 day period all packed into a tiny town. Meet the Amazing Kathrin Stalder from Switzerland... @kathrin49 and I are combining are love of textiles, art and community for a 9 day show for Oxfordshire Art Weeks. 15 – 23rd May 2021. It’s still uncertain if Kathrin can join us in person, however we are VERY lucky to have her incredible Community Project and Textile Installation ‘Heimat’ for the Exhibition. The artwork is a beautiful fabric house which is a constant work-in-progress. It has 100’s of hand sewn artworks from around the world. Each piece acts like a shingle, all expressing their idea of ‘Home’ or where one might feel at home. Kathrin is inviting YOU to get involved and be a part of the art! To get involved, you may hand sew with red thread onto white fabric (16x20cm or 20x20cm) a picture or words (in your mother tongue) which express your feelings of home or 'safe place'. Your welcome to bring it to the exhibition or post it to the address below. Remember to include your name and country as Kathrin hand sews everyone’s name who has taken part in the artwork which is exhibited with the piece. Hello world! How are you doing out there? We've nearly done January! Must be the slowest month in the calender, and now onto a short leap-year February and then Spring! We have got this! Despite finding my screen time has quadrupled in these recent times, I am so greatful for Online video calls! A small window into someone else's world.
