Just because you find yourself in a conversation that you can add nothing to, doesn't mean you're stupid, even if it happens a lot. Nobody knows everything and everyone has their topics of expertise. Some people have a lot of academic knowledge while others learn to be more emotionally intelligent by life experience. Don't jump to conclusions about your intelligence too fast. You have more to offer than you think.
Sometimes I forget, with all the big issues in my life, that the little issues make a big difference too. I get so distracted and overwhelmed because usually, I can't do anything about the big issues. But one of the reasons I'm so overwhelmed is usually because I also have to deal with all those little issues and I'm fighting to ignore that discomfort.
But when I focus more on making a difference with the little things, I feel like I'm much more in focus and living my life despite it all. Those little things pile up and even if it seems like such a small thing to change/address/ect, it's still me trying to change things in my life for the better and reminding myself there ARE things I can fix.
So for the rest of y'all, if you're feeling overwhelmed or stuck on an issue you can't seem to fix, try to eliminate or work on some of the smaller problems you deal with.
Clear your plate a little. Maybe you're just giving yourself a little more room to breathe, maybe you're doing that and giving yourself a new perspective on it all. Just like little joys matter, little annoyances do too; be aware of them.
Devin Kelly, from "How to Drown"
You know that quote “you never know what someone’s going through, so be kind”? It works the other way too. If someone doesn’t really know what you’re struggling with or refuses to see it while completely invalidating you, please know that they don’t get to define your worth and their unkindness shows they’re not someone you should keep around. As hurtful as it is, their perception and opinions of you do not reflect the truth, and they don’t get to tell you how to live if they completely disregard the things you go through. I hope you find people who are supporting of you, who see you with compassion and understanding.
If you get scared when it's time to sleep or can't sleep without tv on, buy a nightlight for your bedside table that can do different colors. I like to sleep with red light on, it's so relaxing. Turn the screens off and put rain noises on. That's so much better for your brain than tv, but it's still super comforting. Start reading before bed, make yourself a tea every night, diffuse lavender essential oils if you want. Get a stuffie you love to cuddle, some soft blankets. Nighttime is not scary anymore, it's time to reclaim that part of your life. You can do this ♥︎

I'm still closeted btw. I can't come out to my family. I just found out I'm bi recently. I told some close friends but that's it so far...😕

it’s always so meaningful when someone interprets you accurately, or says a spark of a phrase, a half-a-sentence, that resonates with you so intimately that it feels like they’ve dipped a finger in a lake of you and made a ripple that goes on and on and on
I’m a full believer in doing small things for yourself to cultivate your soul without having to tell anybody especially in a day and age where people feel the need to capitalize on every aspect of themselves to create an aestheticized identity… like learning a language going on a run writing a poem practicing your craft going to a museum dancing for fun can and should give you personal fulfillment that doesn’t have to be presented through a lens or validated by an audience
