I wonder why the Artemis discourse even exists tbh. Like, Artemis is a goddess, and this means that She is different for everyone;She is absolutely aroace for some people, a lesbian for others, bi for someone else, or maybe even an ace lesbian or anything else people believe Her to be. Isn't this how gods, goddesses and goddexes in general work? Like the Christian God is a black gay woman for some people, a nonbinary autistic person for others, etc, and neither of these is wrong or not true..?

When I was United Methodist, I viewed God as a woman.

Anyway, no you don’t. Some people’s goal is to no longer be dysphoric and it’s easier for some people to achieve than others. If you stop being dysphoric it doesn’t eliminate your trans identity. If you were never dysphoric it doesn’t eliminate your trans identity. If you identify differently than your gender you can identify as trans with or without dysphoria.

Some people’s goal of no longer being dysphoric usually ends in transition, which yes, is easier for some people than others. If you’ve become less dysphoric it’s because you’ve helped alleviate that dysphoria, but if you never had dysphoria, there’s no reason for you to associate yourself with trans people at all. Identity is a dumb self describing word, dysphoria is a life long battle.

The important thing to realize about neo-nazis and modern nazi sympathizers, because it’s the one thing they can’t deny, is that they’ve learned to use their own absurdity as a defense mechanism, to a degree not even Sartre predicted. Having a cartoon frog as their symbol is a strength for them, because it means whenever the media reports on them, they get to turn the narrative into “haha, the mainstream media is talking about a cartoon frog! We got ‘em good!”.

This is part of a wider asset of modern neo-nazism. Truth means nothing to them, primarily with regard to their own members. “Trump’s Phantasmagoria” is an excellent article about this- it explains how trump’s complete disregard for facts actually helped him, because it let people who disagreed with some of the awful things he’s said say “oh, he didn’t really mean that.” And this attitude is everywhere on the right. When milo tells his fans to sexually harass women on his birthday, they respond “he didn’t really mean it! Lighten up!”. When he suggests women in STEM should be limited to 10 or 15%, they say “it was just a joke! He’s not a misogynist!” and laugh at all the people taking it seriously.

There’s no real limit to this. It could turn up that one of Trump’s cabinet picks has actually said “I agree with hitler” or “we should wipe out the jews”, and people would still defend him. This isn’t up for debate- countless internet conservatives have said things like this already, and yet we still have legions of people who don’t consider themselves anti-semites or racists lining up to defend them.

This leads to a really sickening mentality. The tumblr alt-right’s reaction to the current stream of articles about them is basically “Ha ha, this article about how nazism is experiencing an unprecedented resurgence and LGBT people, Jews, and Muslims fear for their lives said Richard Spencer is the leader of the movement, when it’s actually completely decentralized! Hilarious!”

And of course this is all richly flavored with the traditional reactionary bitter ironies. They expect us to ignore all the terrible things they’ve said because “it’s just a joke”, yet they insist that everyone who’s ever said “kill all men” was 100% serious. They adopted “facts over feelings” as their rallying cry, yet the ultimate fruit of their work is the post-truth world.

It’s Thanksgiving which means tables decorated with tiny porcelain figures of Native Americans sharing corn with pilgrims. It’s a holiday about being grateful, coming together, and being at peace but while we use caricatures of a great people, mainstream media ignores their cries for help. While we set tables with servings of food that are far too large, the original inhabitants of this great nation struggle to fight for clean drinking water and respect for their ancestors.

Yep. Thanksgiving. Native American Heritage Month. Celebrated in 2016 by encroaching on Native land and assaulting Native bodies.

It’s the traditional American way.

tbh? there’s literally NO reason for parents to physically harm their children in any way as a punishment.

like as someone who’s worked with little kids (age 5-7) I’ve NEVER even had to think of doing this and I’m not a parent. it is VERY easy to discipline kids in a way that encourages them to stop their actions and doesn’t harm them. they are at an age where they rely on adults for guidance, and punishment can be as simple as “if you don’t stop throwing toys, you can’t play with them for X amount of time”.

I can’t believe this is actually controversial? anyways if you think physically harming children is an appropriate method of punishment then you shouldn’t be a parent or working with kids.

he can afford to backpedal in what he says. he’s already handed his actions as president over to people who will do everything he said and more. actual competent politicians, who will be able to work the system in a way he never could by himself. we’re more fucked than ever. 

and the worst part of all? is all the liberals saying we need to stop protesting trump, because pence is so much worse. as if trump wont greenlight everything he says when he chose him as his chief adviser.
