let's all have one moment to appreciate the friendships in heartstopper s2. as much as i love all the couples and was absolutely squealing at their scenes, there's something so so special and meaningful about how the friendships were never thrown to the back burner. it's so special how we got to see genuine platonic love between all of these characters and it was important and meaningful and just as powerful as the romantic love. it's so rare to see this in media but it's so so important. and yeah, just props for alice for delivering on that regard once again. no one writes friendships like her

something something about the dichotomy between Darcy and Ben. Both of them have homophobic parents who would never accept their kids and created an atmosphere where their 15 year old kids hate themselves. But how Darcy turned out to be this absolute sunshine of a girl, who doesn’t let her pain consume her and doesn’t let the hatred turn her into a bully, who is there to hold her girlfriend and all her other friend’s hands when they’re going through a crisis of their own, vs Ben, who just couldn’t help but turn hateful to the world. Who hurt Charlie because he was hurting himself. How the same type of pain could affect people in completely different ways. I love how nuanced these two arcs were and they weren’t showcased to parallel or contradict each other, they were just there. In this essay I will—

Remembering that gorgeous scene where they are all together at Nick’s house and they just be. The connection between them all, the feeling of being completely at ease, completely safe. And whilst I’m not the biggest swiftie on the planet, I do think that song was utterly perfect to accompany it and it really set the beautiful tone of the scene! 🍂🍂

To all you sickos out there that contributed in any way to the bullying, harassment and demanding of Kit Connor identifying his sexuality I hope watching season two of Heartstopper made you feel horrible.

It was such a beautiful continuation of an already beautiful story and getting to watch Kit, as well as the whole cast, act their butts off was a gift.

Nick’s coming out story was incredibly well done and showed all aspects of it, but overwhelmingly we saw the love and support he had. As many characters said to him in the show, he doesn’t owe an explanation to ANYONE.

It was for him to decide when he was comfortable and while I love Nick got to have that, I’m absolutely heartbroken Kit did not.

The people who participated in Kit’s outing clearly didn’t get the point of the first season, but I can only hope they do now and just feel disgusted with themselves.
