to everyone else in school right now:
please use sparknotes. please use khan academy. please listen to school house rock songs and watch the history of the entire world i guess and tim and moby and bill nye. any documentary you watch in class can be found somewhere online with a quick google. get your books from project gutenberg and z-lib. download textbooks off the internet whenever you can find them. use desmos for a free online graphing calculator. if you’re learning something and you don’t get it look up the wikipedia page on it and put it into simple english to get the gist, then put it back into regular english to get the full story. cheat if you have to. school sucks so bad rn and if you’re like me and you get all your materials secondhand or from the lost and found, online resources are really useful rn; all of the above have helped me pass a class in some way, and i hope they can help you too.
stay inside and stay safe. best of luck to all the students out there.

Please CHRIST in heaven help me not become homeless again
God I hate doin this, but I'm Ari back in the summer it got so bad at my old construction job that I quit just for a temp agency but the agency fucked me over n skipped paying me for a couple weeks leaving me to look for another job that left me missing too many pay checks and in the red.
I live alone and went completely no contact with my parents, and struggled for two years to get out of homelessness because of them, so I have no one to go to for help. I have been going over -700 in my bank account to pay rent for the past couple months and overdraft fees have been $25 a pop. Every time I finally get my head above water I have to pay rent again and this month all those overdraft fees have finally caught up with me. I'm almost -500 and I need to pay by the 7th or I'm out they'll just evict me without even a week to prep and I don't even have the money for boxes to pack. I don't even have enough room to go in the negative to pay all my rent n utilities off.
I have a cat now who is very small and easily scared and I don't know what either of us are gonna do if I end up homeless again and winter is coming.
I've been trying to find a new job that pays better but since I had to drop out of college when I'd become homeless I'm struggling to find anywhere that'll hire me and doesn't require a driver's license as my parents didn't want me to learn so they could control where I went when I'd lived with them.
Right now I need to get to $1,414 to just break even an get more time to find a better long term solution. I really can't go to those predatory loan companies because of their apr goin over 100%
I AM LITERALLY AT THE END OF THE LINE RIGHT NOW. PLEASE EVEN IF YOU CAN'T DONATE AT LEAST REBLOG THIS! I CAN'T GO BACK TO BEING HOMELESS AGAIN I HAVE SO MUCH MORE TO LOSE NOW!
My v*nmo is @xotoplane and my cashapp is $xotoplane

Hey y'all I was able to make a deal with my landlord but I've only got a week, til October 14th. Thank you so much to everyone who's been able to help me out to this point you don't know how much I appreciate it! Because of y'all I'm $185 closer to staying off the street

sorry professor I'm going to have to miss class today bc when I walked outside in the morning it was cold and sunny in a very specific way and suddenly I was struck with a nostalgia for years past so vivid and potent that I had to sit down

I'm volunteering for a literary journal right now and there's two things I think you all should know.
1. Most people that submit to literary journals are cis white men. We know this because our journal has an anonymous survey about demographics for people that submit.
2. Most things that get submitted to the creative non fiction section are on the level of middle school "What I did over the summer" essays.
I cannot see the demographics of the people whose essays I'm reading, but guys, if you are wondering if you should submit your work to a literary journal or not, I promise you that just in terms of statistics there are a lot of mediocre cis white men and people in general confidently submitting weird crap that isn't literature to literature magazines. Do it. Submit your work. Please. If you want there to be more diversity in literature, be the diversity. Do it. Do it do it do it.
In general literary magazines want to include more diversity, but if poc, queer people, disabled people, etc. don't submit their work then they aren't gonna get more diverse because we just won't have the material necessary to get more diverse. Submit your work. Do it. Do it. Do it do it do it.
Here's a list of university run literary journals. Do it. Get published.
Many indie lit mags also welcome works from BIPOC and LGBTQIA creatives because the editorial staff themselves are in that demographic. Quarantine brought on the start of the SO many indie lit mags - it’s almost a golden age. Don’t be afraid to submit — there will always be so many niches and aesthetics that one will bound to be the one that fits your style.
There is so much work from marginalized narratives in litmags these days — people lament there is no representation in media, but that disregards the progress and diversity of the works of editors and writers who help make these litmags possible.
There is representation, and it is flourishing. They are waiting to be read.
The Lumiere Review compiles a list of submission opportunities every month, and it are always very useful:

So please, please submit!
Independent magazines are great too! I’m more familiar with the university journal scene so I appreciate this addition.
