Even in the 1990’s the boxing gym’s they would talk about this guy. “Burley Burley Burley” my boxing coach would say.
Charley Burley was an American boxer who competed from 1936–1950 as a middleweight and welterweight. Though he never won a World Championship, Burley is considered a boxing legend. Some say he was the greatest fighter they ever faced, and he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1992. Burley's skill helped shape an era, and Hall of Fame trainer Eddie Futch called him "the finest all-around fighter I ever saw".
