occasionally etho will say something that just completely takes me out because its so out of left field
minecraft monsters are so fucking funny weve got
zombies which look like the default player character. this has no lore implicatjons
skeletons. inexplicably they carry bows.
spiders that are two metres wide and hiss like snakes (imagine how fucking terrifying this would be in real life)
walking bush that wants nothing more than to explode while standin next to you. also theyre afraid of cats
three metre tall guy with social anxiety so bad they try to kill you if you look at them. also they can teleport
really sad ghost
zombies 2: underwater edition
spiders again but now they poison you
fish that kills you with a mind beam
Some obligatory minecraft fan art featuring my little farmer dude and poorly drawn cubes
I just think that Minecraft is a beautiful game where you can create so much with so little. And it has unique ability to bring together so much of incredibly talented people - artists, writers, filmmakers, actors, coders, gamers or not. You don't have to be a gamer to play Minecraft. And you can't really hate the game at all. You can hate the developers, the stupid community discourse, you can hate any and all mcyt, but you have nothing to hate the game for. Like I feel like the only people who actually hate Minecraft are like feeling deeply unloved themselves and/or never played the game. It's not the game for everyone, but at the same time the game is like 12 years old and always comes back swining, beautiful as ever, because millions of people love it. Old kids loved it, new kids love it, adults had always loved it, the question was only how acceptable it was.

THEY FOUND THE ORIGINAL HEROBRINE STREAM??????
WHAT DO YOU MEAN SOME GUY JUST HAD IT ON THEIR HARD DRIVE FOR 10 YEARS????
how it feels finding a cool base location in minecraft
i still think don't mine at night is really, really funny because it basically implanted misinformation into an entire generation of minecraft players for the sake of rhyming with the original song
for the unaware: minecraft has something called a mob cap, which is the maximum amount of mobs that a world can naturally have at any given time*. in vanilla minecraft, the mob cap for hostile mobs (creepers, zombies, endermen, etc) is 70 per player - meaning in a single player world it's 70, on a server with two others it's 210, and so on**.
now, this mob cap can be filled up by mobs anywhere, as long as they are loaded and don't have some sort of "persistence" (like a name tag or holding an item) that prevents them from despawning***. in the daytime, this mob cap is usually taken up almost entirely by mobs in caves deep underground. sometimes you'll get a few leftover creepers or spiders from the night before but it's almost always caves, and when the game can spawn new mobs it'll spawn them there.
...however in the night time, mobs can spawn on the unlit surface as well. and since the mob cap doesn't particularly care about where in loading range mobs are, this actually results in less mobs in caves since there are more on the surface taking up the mob cap... meaning in terms of potential mob encounters, it's safer to mine at night.
and game mechanics aside, it's just more convenient to mine at night anyways! if you're just starting a new world, nighttime is nasty. most players want to stay inside and do indoor tasks in a nice, safe base while the monsters roam outside. and if your mineshaft is in your base, it's more convenient to head to the relative safety of the mines as the sun goes down, then come back up to explore the surface in the daytime when the sun is bright and the monsters are few.
so yeah, the ancient songs are wrong. they've always been wrong. mine at night!
*there are some exceptions, like phantoms and mobs spawned artificially or from spawners, that don't respect the mob cap. you can easily have more than 70 mobs on a single player world through spawn eggs, the game just wont spawn more naturally
**each dimension has its own mobcap, so if you have 3 players across 3 dimensions each will have a cap of just 70
***once again, there are exceptions - shulkers, wardens, and zombified/witch-ified villagers count towards the mob cap but are persistent. they are used to make mob switches, which are devices that prevent any further mob spawns from happening when activated.
Doubling up for Etho’s base! Original painting on the left, combined painting on the right. I liked the proportions I used better in the one on the left but he went and added to his build, so I wanted to complete it!

i think the reason i like Hermitcraft and the life series so much (aside from it being Minecraft and creators i really like) is the fact that everyone involved is a main character. They all have their own POVs and their own thing going on, so if you see a hermit in someone else's video and want to know what they're up to, you can!!! just hop on to their youtube and there's hours of content just waiting for you!
What is in the hermitcraft water today? The streams are so funny tonight, first doc drops some animal facts, then the weirdly zen fishing and now they fling themselves into space like the mad people they are lol
Alex and Steve Minecraft are t4t. Their deadnames? Adam and Eve. In this essay I will
any hole fans on the website tonight?
Minecraft Mod idea because GOD I’ve had this idea since forever and I needed to put it on paper.
I have always been a sucker for ambience in Minecraft, but almost every weather mod I find is more focused on the survival aspect of it so, for the longest time I’ve thought about what a more ambient form of weather mod would be like.
I would absolutely love to make this into an actual mod myself, but my 0 experience in coding and modding is unfortunately hindering that idea. >_> Though if there’s anyone out there with modding experience that actually wants to help make this a thing, I’d be more than happy to help out in any way I can with it.
