I always remember the way Aragorn and Arwen were portrayed and how their different lifespans would lead to tragedy. Aragorn eventually dies "glory undimmed" (aka still hot, fuckable, absolute king) while Arwen goes off to Lothlorien to be sad and die.

And I like to think that after all the hurdles Iorveth has overcome in reconciling his feelings for all dh'oine and this particular dh'oine, he approaches things differently. He's at least made some peace with Roche's past, the Scoia'tael's future, and the Aen Seidhe's place in this world (or another). So he's like, well this is my disaster dh'oine now, time to get the work.

Iorveth sets out to make Roche live longer so they can be lifespan twinsies but he doesn't say as much because it's so obvious. Like how we'd think of making our pets live longer because their time is just too short by our standards. (Insert dog pun here if you like.) Roche is like, my lifespan is just fine ty. Iorveth accepts this in a very "I'm nodding but you're clearly wrong" sort of way.

But then Roche wakes up one day and Iorveth tells him that Due to Magical Reasons they now share a lifespan so they will live to exactly the same age. Roche freaks out and demands why Iorveth would do this. Iorveth is all, "The sex, obviously" and they fight about it for ages. Then they bone and things sort of level out.

All their friends are happy for them of course but they all agree that was definitely not the best way to go about it. But true love etc so what can you do.

Let me spin off of this and make you cry:

Iorveth tells Geralt while deep in his cups that due to Magical Reasons he and Roche now share a livespan and the reader believes Iorveth's shit but it means that Iorveth kills himself when Roche dies 😌

Also: the worst part with Aragorn is that he kinda *decides* he's done with life and apparently bored with his family and lies down to die. He really and in actuality leaves Arwen. Arsehole. >:(

Sorry to bother you, I hope you're having a nice day. In your opinion, how old do you think Iorveth is? Do you think he's an older elf or younger elf? I only know he is canonically at least one hundred years old, maybe two. I also like to think he's a younger elf, still in his youth or something. Any thoughts? :)

Pretty sure that Iorveth’s meant to be an older elf. Iirc it’s mentioned how he leads the younger ones into certain death just like Isengrim did. Also Triss referred to him as “old, sly elf” once.

To me personally he’s on the older side, has seen shit (not to mention killed d’hoine for a century) and is just in general this “living legend” that some of the younger elves follow blindly.

That being said, I think Cedric is older than him, and he called Francesca an “old hag”, so...
