if everything is going to gradually become outrage marketing can we at least have some fun with it and do the movie remakes with all-women casts again
There is no greater example of the selfish, antisocial, and solipsistic American spirit than the belief, held by millions, that one is entitled to set off loud and violent fireworks days before any relevant holiday or special occasion, even unto midnight
Triggering the PTSD of military veterans is the only positive use case for fireworks.

#Make Racists Scared Again 2026
Share if you want people to know they should be scared to be racist around you 👊🏾
"making them afraid will make them more racist" that's wild to me, because we live in a whole culture of social consequences for antiracism anyway. It is literally safer to be a racist than it is to speak up against it, socially.
Idk about you, but "I'm afraid no one will want to be my friend if I'm a white supremacist" seems like a pretty logical thought process to have, and I wish THAT were the normal and not "I'm afraid my friends will hate me if I tell them they made racist jokes".

'the greatest reveal in the history of media was-' no. the greatest reveal in the history of media was in the novel Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones (1986), wherein after having spent the entire book up to this point in the fantasy land of Ingary, where fairy tales come true, it is revealed that the real reason that Howl is so odd, so strange, so different from everyone else is that he is not, in fact, like everyone else. and this is not because he is a wizard, or a layabout, or heartless--it is because he is Welsh. as in, he is from modern day Wales. as in, he and his pals from Magic World go for a quick trip to visit his family in Wales, circa 1984-6. and suddenly everything about Howl Pendragon aka Howell Jenkins suddenly makes a lot more sense
Two Earthlings (2009) by John Brosio
obsessed with the fact that howl movingcastle is, like, the ideal portal fantasy protagonist. he's a welsh rugby-playing grad student who enters a magical world where he discovers he's a wildly powerful wizard. there's an evil witch out to get him and the king needs his help and there's a curse catching up with him. he has a magical creature sidekick and an orphan apprentice and a mentor who gets killed by the evil witch halfway through and a love interest under a terrible curse. the story is BEGGING for him to be the main character. and he's just like. no <3.

Citations could be so awesome without copyright. Imagine just being able to click on a footnote and it takes you to the exact section of another book being quoted. Imagine how much that would do for stemming misinformation.
I know I already made a post to this effect but it's so baffling to me when someone defends the fact that headphone jacks are slowly but surely getting phased out by smartphone manufacturers with some variations of "wireless headphones are more convenient anyway" bc like. If we're talking about convenience what I like about wired headphones is that they conveniently have a single plug that makes the same damn pair of headphones universally compatible with every single audio-output-capable device I own, from my phone and my computer to my fucking gameboy and my casette player, it doesn't get any more convenient than that.
