To Kill a Mockingbird: Atticus Finch [INFJ]

Introverted Intuition (Ni): Atticus knows that he is going to lose his first court case, but he chooses to do it anyway based on an ideal. He has a dream for the future in which everyone is treated equally. He believes everyone deserves justice. He foresees the consequences of his decisions and those of others and takes deliberate steps  to prevent them from doing evil in the name of revenge (he anticipates trouble at the jail and arrives there to stop it, he foresees the outcome of the trial, and the trouble it will bring upon his family to represent an accused rapist). He chooses to focus on the future rather than the present: what Scout could become, the next appeal, the things he intends to give his children upon his death.

Extroverted Feeling (Fe): He encourages Scout to put aside her personal feelings and walk a mile in someone else’s shoes. He’s polite and courteous to one and all, even those who hate him. Atticus is concerned with propriety and values the respect of others; he admits that if he didn’t take this case, he couldn’t hold his head up in town for the shame of his cowardice. He works within the system while also finding it unjust; he does not champion to change it, merely to have a fair trial. He tries to keep his emotions at a distance, but they show in his reluctance to punish his children, his willingness to let them made decisions for themselves, and his compassion when they disobey him. Atticus compromises to keep everyone happy (making a deal with Scout, letting his son tag along, choosing to protect Radley at the cost of telling the truth in town).

Introverted Thinking (Ti): He analyzes the case completely and devises a method of defense that is articulate, well-stated, and clear in its conclusions (that his client is innocent). Atticus is a man of intellectual depth who builds his knowledge through reading all sorts of books.

Extroverted Sensing (Se): Even though he denies it, Atticus is the best shot in town. He likes to ground his opinions in realities and tangible truths. No you don’t understand how frustrated I am that we always depicted the Apostles as old men, especially when it comes to during-Jesus-alive stuff.

They were probably late teens to early 20s, given the time and the description and some Biblical passages.

They were not ancient old men with long beards and wrinkles at the Last Supper.

They were young adult rebels with a cause.

I can’t remember where, but the bible says that Jesus was the only one who was old enough to pay the temple tax required by Jewish law, none of the disciples had hit that age. A quick google tells me that Jewish men pay it from the age of 20 - all of the disciples were teenagers.

Not all of them! Matthew 17:24-27 addresses the issue of the temple tax, in which Jesus tells Peter to get a four-drachma piece from a fish’s mouth to account “for my tax and yours”. In addition, Peter is the only person directly mentioned to have a mother-in-law; Jesus heals her in according to three accounts (Matthew 8:14-17, Mark 1:29-31, and Luke 4:38).

So! The “Disciples were ancient old men with long beards and wrinkles" factoid is actually just statistical error. The average disciple was under 20. Simon Peter, who lived with his mother-in-law and his fishing boat and payed the temple tax was an outlier adn should not have been counted.
