Hi I’m Sy and I have an unhealthy obsession with all things vampire.

Currently that is TVC, in particular the adaptions of Interview with the Vampire. The book, movie and show all have a special place in my heart I enjoy them all immensely. Slowly making my way through the rest of the books, pray for me if my obsession doesn’t lessen by the time I’m done with Queen of the Damned.

I have a vampire centric blog but this is for the TVC thoughts that are too specific to have on there. I have an addiction to sideblogs.

My favorite character is Louis, my ship of choice is Loustat and my least favorite character is Marius fuck Marius

lestat: what if there was a great female vampire who was immensely powerful but needed me? what if she was made of stone so she could never leave or say something cruel or sit up or go anywhere without her keeper (me) her caretaker (also me) her child (me!!)? what if I showed her things that were interesting and exciting to me and she responded in ways I could construe as approving? what if the only thing I knew about her is that she is the progenitor of us all and I had no choice but to devote my life to caring for her and keeping track of her nightmarish fragility that could doom us all even though she has never asked for it because (again) she can't speak or protest?

Anyone genuinely comparing the scenes where Louis and Lestat get shot so they can call it a plot hole must be genuinely dense.

Louis was in that waste of spaces home to kill him and watched as he loaded the gun to shot him. He was fully prepared and regardless of power levels no vampire is going to die to a gunshot wound.

Lestat was exiting a venue with his manager and crew, he was surrounded by fans who were all screaming for him, his guard was completely down! No wonder a man shooting him, with a modern gun too, took him by surprise. He wasn’t expecting it at all, it didn’t really hurt him but it surprised him.

Louis was ready to aura farm and Lestat wasn’t. It’s genuinely so simple and obvious that you’d have to be deluding yourself if you think these scenes have any critical comparisons to make.

The look of shock and panic on Lestat's face as he's being shot is very telling.

He KNOWS being shot won't kill him, canonically he was shot by one of the attendees at Renaud's but being shot caught him completely off guard.

There's also the fact that the gunman opened fire in a crowd and most of his fans are very much human, Lestat genuinely loves and cares about his fans. His interaction with the fan that he gave his sunglasses to is a prime example of that.

People really need to look at the setting sometimes.

Also, Lestat's problem with Louis wasn't that being shot wouldn't kill him. It's that for all Louis seemed to express concern and care for him, he didn't call or pick up his phone when Lestat reached out. Hence why he said "the next time someone tries to murder me, pick up your phone".

We know that Louis was following the tour. I'm not saying that Louis doesn't have his own stuff going on because he decidedly does but you can't really act like you care and stay silent when something happens.
