the homra members are sharing the real reason why they joined the clan and yata awkwardly says that although he was already set on joining, accidentally seeing mikoto in his underwear settled it.

(fun fact: this is actually how one of the bts members ended up joining the band lol)

For the first time in his life, Fushimi wishes he wore underwear XD Yata’s already got super hero worship for Mikoto but maybe a little burgeoning middle schooler crush is what seals it. Like after Mikoto and Totsuka save Fushimi and Yata at the surprise party they take the two kids inside the bar to get cleaned up, which is when Yata and Fushimi find out about Homra and eventually choose to join. Before this though Kusanagi is taking care of Fushimi’s injured eye and Yata mentions feeling all grimy, Kusanagi says they have a shower upstairs and Yata goes up to clean off. He splashes some water in his face, thinking about how scared he was for Saruhiko and how he wishes he had the power to protect what he cares about…and then Mikoto just walks in wearing nothing but his underwear. Mikoto barely even seems to notice Yata, imagine him just putting a hand idly on Yata’s head and then walking past him and grabbing a pair of pants that were drying nearby, totally chill and not even aware that Yata is staring with an open mouth. Afterwards when Yata and Fushimi are talking about Homra Yata is of course thinking about how powerful Mikoto is and how he saved Saruhiko…. but also there are intrusive thoughts about Mikoto in his underwear (because, um, because he looked so cool! Right? Totally that. Yata likes girls. Really, he swears. Absolutely).

So then way later on Yata’s chatting with some of the Homra guys and they’re discussing how they joined the clan and what the catalyst was, while Fushimi is sulking in a corner like normal. Someone asks Yata and Fushimi grimaces as Yata starts going on about how cool and strong and amazing Mikoto is…and also Yata saw him in his underwear once. Imagine everyone going dead silent and Yata’s like you know, he just looked really cool, like muscles and stuff, that’s all. The Homra guys all start smirking and snickering while Yata’s trying to deny his own bisexual awakening. Meanwhile there’s Fushimi, sitting quietly in the corner, thinking about how he doesn’t belong — but also, maybe he doesn’t want to be here anymore at all.

Cute Anna and Yata is always welcome :) I could see him getting to be a lot more big-brotherly to her after Totsuka and Mikoto die, like even though she's a King now she's still a kid and she needs someone there to be her support, Kusanagi is of course world's best mom but he has lots of other responsibilities too and so I could see Yata occasionally ending up as the one getting to spend a bit more time helping Anna out. Like one evening Kusanagi has to go take care of some things for his other businesses and he asks Yata to spend the evening at the bar until he gets back, just to keep an eye on Anna. Yata takes this responsibility very seriously, maybe initially treating it as a retainer keeping an eye on a mafia boss but then he asks Anna what she wants and she asks for pancakes, and suddenly Yata's all big brother like right I'll make the best pancakes ever for you.

Maybe while she's eating Anna is talking to Yata a little about how she's started going to school post-ROK and she's trying to make friends, Yata's all super proud of her and telling her that she'll definitely be really popular. Anna gives him this serious look and then says that she's never had a sleepover before, Yata's like sleepovers are cool Saruhiko and I had them all the time in middle school. Anna's like 'Misaki' and looks at him all intently, not really asking but even Yata can tell what she wants and he's like '...you wanna have a sleepover right now?'. Anna nods really seriously and Yata's a little embarrassed like well I dunno what girls usually do on sleepovers but I guess we can try. Anna gets up and grabs his hand, like very quietly excited and of course Yata can't say no to her so he's like all right let's go into your room and we'll do sleepover stuff.

Anna gets into her lion pajamas and they sit on her bed, Anna asks what they should do and Yata's like 'um...girls do makeovers and stuff for sleepovers, right?'. Anna cocks her head curiously and Yata waves his arms like okay I don't do makeup or anything but I could brush your hair or do your nails if you want. Anna wants to do her part too though and this is probably how Yata ends up getting painted toenails, he doesn't really complain though and tells Anna that the sparkly red nail polish she picked is really cool. Anna asks what else people usually do at sleepovers and Yata's trying real hard to think, he's like 'well maybe we could tell scary stories...' and then he shakes his head like wait never mind I think that's a bad idea. They end up just talking about Homra a bit instead, like Yata tells Anna some fun stories of stuff that happened while he was hanging out with the Homra guys and he's getting really into the stories, like laughing and waving his hands and Anna's just watching him with this soft smile (and then a few hours later Kusanagi comes back and finds them fast asleep on Anna's bed with Anna resting her head on Yata's shoulder).
