LAW [mystery, emotional depth & strength]
After spending what it felt like eons submerged in the Polar Tang, you had finally docked on an island, spring time making its way trough, flowers blossoming and painting the town in all it’s beautiful hues.
You decided to take a walk to finally get some fresh air and stretch your legs.
Law usually tails after you in this situations, as much he hates to admit it the surgeon only feels at ease when you’re at arms length, the only way he can make sure you’re safe; however this time around he has inventory to get done.
He soon regrets this decision; the sun is unrelenting baring its rays through his skin as he stands on the top of the submarine, it has been 2 hours and no one knew where you went. A million terrible scenarios go through his head, were you kidnapped? Did you get lost and now found yourself in another island?… did you… leave?
“Captain don’t worry” Bepo approaches the Captain the same way you would a cat on the street- “I’m sure they’re just fine, they’re strong and smart enough to take care of themselves”
Now that he was right about, still when it comes you, Law can’t seem to think straight.
As if on cue, your laugh echoes from far away, and there you were: skipping your way directly to the submarine, all smiles and excitement that has Law softening at the sight. Bepo says something about “told you so Captain” but he doesn’t really hear him, as he often does when you’re between his field of vision.
You make a beeline to Law, obviously
“Hey~”
“Where were you?”
Way to go doctor. Being this close to a very stressed Law would scare anyone, but beneath it all you saw he was just worried about you.
You smile “Was out getting something special… for you”
“Huh?”
Form behind you, you reveal a bouquet of beautiful handpicked flowers, but not any type
Black dahlias
“I found a huge field and came across these… thought of you”
Law stands stiff, eyes wide and completely lost on how to react. You, bless you heart, grabbed his hands and put the bouquet between them. You don’t expect him to answer, you know him better that anyone; you stand on your toes and peck his cheek.
“Hope you like em~”
You leave him there, wordless, gears in his head turning and his face a bright red.
Some days later you find one of the dahlias pressed beside your night stand a small note beside it
‘Thank you, love’
SANJI [Remembrance, true love & loyalty]
The cook loved nothing more than showering you with his love and affection. Dinners, gifts, flowers, desserts, letters you name it, he has done it. A professional romantic you could say!
What’s strange is that Sanji isn’t the best when it comes to receiving that same love and affection back, which is something you have been working on.
His day started early as it always does when you’re the cook of the future king of the pirates, prepping for breakfast and snacks at 6 am while everyone else sleeps soundly. Sanji opened the dish gabinete looking for a bowl, instead what his hand was able to reach was a forget-me-not. He examines it, puzzled but also a strange feeling settling over him… how did this ended up all the way up in his stuff?
He reached for the gabinete again and chooses a vase for the little flower, he places it front and center of the kitchen ilse.
Later, everyone crashes the kitchen for breakfast most eagerly, chatter and laughter filling the kitchen that ends up in a lot of dirty dishes he has to clean. Of course you had offered but Sanji couldn’t let you lift a finger around his kitchen. As he finishes and wipes his hands, the cook is surprised yet again that morning with another forget-me-not, this one in the middle of the breakfast table. He collects it, gears turning in his head as he examines it before placing it in the vase.
His day continues and he just keeps stumbling into more flowers: on his smoke break, one in your hair when he comes to say hi, inside the pocket of his vest, stored between the spices, even inside his cigarette box.
Still without a single clue of what or who could be putting them on his way, Sanji collected every single one of them. By dinner time he had a whole bouquet!
“These are gorgeous” Sanji turns around, he sees you looking at the flowers on the isle, soft smile on your face before sitting down for your late night chatter like clockwork
“Not as beautiful as you my love-” he answers without missing a beat “-It seems Cupid made a visit to The Sunny today…”
A smirk was forming in your face, thankfully the cook was too preoccupied sharpening his knife to notice
“Is that so?”
“It was so magical, he probably wanted me to surprise you today” he turns once more before walking straight to you, slowly reaching for the vase, careful and caring; like deep down he knew who did this but just didn’t wanted to accept it, diverting
“I think this was a surprise meant for someone else” his eyes meet yours, a wide ocean in front of you
“Oh?”
“Maybe… I grew these… for you” your eyes never leave Sanji’s, not even for a second even as your hands wrap around his and the vase of forget-me-nots
“Oh~”
Sanji learned what ‘short circuited’ really felt like that day
ZORO [Adoration, loyalty & longevity]
“Are you even listening?”
“Yeah yeah”
For the first time in days, the strawhats found themselves under clear skies and a gentle breeze. Zoro laid relaxed on the grass, you sitting beside him with a book on flower language Robin had gifted you for your birthday, becoming your new obsession
“I feel you’re just saying it to get rid of me”
“And is it working?”
“No” you giggled as you turn another page looking for a new flower to read the meaning behind; the swordsman as much as he acted like he hated it, quite enjoyed this moments. You always seemed to find joy around you, one of your many amazing qualities- and somehow it was starting to rub on him too, something he still didn’t knew how to feel about.
Weakness was his biggest enemy, but you made it seemed so sweet
“The one that I didn’t expect was the sunflower, it represents adoration and loyalty; which is kinda poetic if you think about it because they are always following the sun” you kept ranting on on about the sunflower, slowly lulling Zoro to sleep
“It kinda reminds me of you”
Instead of a ‘thank you’ or ‘really?’ All you were met with was loud snoring… you probably should be mad but honestly it just warmed your heart Zoro felt secure enough to fall asleep beside you.
You spend the rest of the evening reading while your fingers cradled his green strands of hair, slow and deliberate.
Some weeks later, The Sunny finally docked and you were able to enjoy some well deserved leisure time.
Zoro and Usopp headed to the islands black smith to stack on some cleaning supplies for the swords and other gear… oh and-
“Sun… flowers?” Usopp never thought he would heard such words leave Zoro’s mouth, yet here he is
“Yeah just… ugh whatever I’ll get em myself”
Usopp tried to stop him, he swears he did! But when Zoro makes up his mind about something it was hard to stop him.
So what could’ve been a simple excursion to buy some sunflowers for you, ended up in half the crew splitting to find him.
A whole day lost on finding the clueless and very in love swordsman. A whole day of Zoro stopping in every corner and every shop asking for sunflower and intimidating many sellers.
Defeated, he finally gets up on The Sunny, sun hiding behind the ocean painting it in orange hues. He was gift-less, and also very tired of walking around the island.
And then he saw your face, smiling from ear to ear and in your hands: 3 sunflowers
It’s like they were making fun of him
“You’re back!” You shortened the distance, a subtle blush sitting atop your cheeks and a spark in your eyes “I got you these!” Carefully, you placed the vase with the flowers on his callused hands, his face once irritated dropped into something softer, almost moved
Almost
“They represent loyalty and-
“Adoration” he finished your sentence, eye now focused on your excited expression and a smile breaking on his lips
“Yeah… exactly”

Masterlist ⊹ AO3
"How long have you been feeling like this?" you say as you place the back of your hand against Law's forehead, which feels almost as warm as one of the engine room pipes. His fever seemed ridiculously high.
"Uh… three days… Maybe?"
"Three days??" You turn your hand and press your palm against his forehead, just to make sure you aren't imagining it. Maybe your hands are the ones cold as ice— no, they're not. He still feels just as hot. You slide your hand to the side of his neck.
"Law, you need to take the day off. You're literally burning."
"Ghh—" he grunts, pressing a hand against his head, "No, I– I need to work."
"You need to rest."
Law squeezes his eyes shut and shakes his head, still holding his forehead. His breathing sounds heavier than before. This fool.
"Okay, how about this," you suggest. "You go rest and I'll do it. What is it that you need?"
"What? No, really– it's okay. This is probably just a stupid cold or sumthing—"
"Woah woah, careful!" he stumbles sideways and nearly falls after walking straight into one of the dining room chairs, you barely managing to catch his arm before he completely loses his balance. "Law, hey, don't do this to yourself. You can barely stand."
He sighs.
"Tell me what's so urgent that you need to be working on right now."
He squints against the light, the room probably being too bright for him, and seems to struggle to even come up with a simple answer.
"Law..? What is it that you need?"
"…I– I forgot."
Oh my God.
"Captain?" Penguin stops halfway through as he passes the kitchen and sees the two of you, with you practically holding Law upright. "Everything okay?"
"Yes–"
"No–" you both answer at the same time and turn to stare at each other. "No you're not! Penguin, great timing. Can you give me a hand?"
"Sure," he hurries over and slides one of Law's arms over his shoulder while you take the other side. "You got him?"
"Yeah– woah—!" Law's knees give out without warning, and suddenly all of his weight falls onto the two of you, forcing you to tighten your grip before he drags all three of you to the floor.
"What are we supposed to do with him?" Penguin asks.
"Take him to his room," you say, nearly loosing your hold on him as he slumps against you again. Law's head droops forward, offering no help as you start walking and practically dragging his feet along the way.
Penguin glances over at him with growing concern, but Law only manages to lift his head a little before offering him a tired, hazy smile,
"…Hi."
"Is– is he drunk?" Penguin asks in a lower voice.
"He has a fever."
"A fever?" Penguin frowns, trying to understand how a fever could leave the Captain this out of it. He shifts his grip to adjust himself, but grows confused when he suddenly notices his shoulder feels cold and damp, just where Law's body is resting on him. He looks down, and finds the collar of Law's shirt is dark with sweat.
"My God… He's sweating so much! Captain, Captain!" He raises a hand in front of Law's face, "How many fingers am I holding up?"
Law cracks one eye open just enough to glance at him. He looks deeply offended, "…You think I'm stupid? Six."
You stare at him, "…Penguin, just keep walking."
—
Once you reach his room, the two of you guide him into the bathroom so Penguin can help him clean up and change into something dry and more comfortable. Law is being surprisingly cooperative throughout the whole ordeal, though Penguin still has to repeat himself every now and then whenever Law drifts off halfway through whatever he's doing.
Eventually, Law is finally tucked beneath the blankets.
While Penguin makes sure he's comfortable, you sit at the desk and write down his symptoms, temperature, the time you took it, and the schedule for his medication. With how high his fever is, you want to make sure you have everything noted down. You don't trust yourself to remember it all later.
Penguin sets a glass of water on the bedside table before stepping back to the doorway. He rests one hand against the frame and turns to you, "You need anything?"
Your lips part to answer, but Law beats you to it, "...No." He doesn't even bother to open his eyes.
A smile tugs at Penguin's mouth, "Wasn't asking you, Captain." And Law answers with a groan that sounds vaguely annoyed. "Don't go dying on us, alright?"
"...Mhm."
That draws another amused smile from Penguin before turning back to you. He points towards the hallway with one thumb, silently mouthing, Yell if you need help.
You nod and mouth back, I will.
Satisfied, he quietly pulls the door shut behind him, and you go back to your notes.
—
An hour has passed.
You've been keeping yourself busy flipping through one of Law's medical books, comparing his symptoms to the different infections listed on it. You're certainly not a doctor, but you've seen him do this before whenever one of the crew members fell sick.
You read the symptoms. Fever, yes. Cold sweats, plenty. Excessive sweating where the body rests against a surface… yes. Sweaty hands, mhmm not really. Cold feet–
You glance up to find him sleeping soundly. Sigh, you forgot to check his lower body's temperature. He needs to get as much sleep as he can get, and checking now would probably wake him up.
Still, you should write down every symptom… what if it's something serious?
You quietly walk over to the bed and lift the blanket just enough to uncover his feet. Cold… surprisingly cold, compared the heat radiating from the rest of his body.
The blanket suddenly moves and Law turns with a groan.
"Shit, sorry. I was just checking on you."
"…oh," Law blinks slowly, "you're still here…"
You give him a faint smile, "Of course I am." You tuck the blanket back around his feet before returning to your notes and adding the new symptom, "Someone has to take care of my captain."
"Hmm…", his lips curve into a smile.
The room falls back to the silent turning of the pages. Every now and then, you glance up from the book expecting to find him asleep, but each time you look, he's still awake, staring absentmindedly in your direction.
You can't help smiling to yourself. Usually, catching him staring would've made Law look away the moment your eyes met. This time, he simply keeps watching you through his sleepy and tired eyes, smiling ever so tenderly. It's… strangely endearing.
Moments later, the mattress shifts as Law finally turns to one side, settling back to sleep. Or at least that's what you assume. He remains still for a few seconds before rolling to the other side. A few seconds pass, and he lets out a frustrated but quiet sigh, and turns once again.
"Law? What's wrong?"
Law suddenly sits upright in his bed, his gaze lost somewhere else.
"Law?"
"Hm?" his eyes slowly find yours.
"You need something?"
He gives you a long look through heavy eyelids, almost getting lost in yours. "…No."
"Then why are you sitting up..?"
"…"
You sigh, "Come on, lie back down."
Setting the book aside, you walk over to the bed to help him, and Law offers no resistance as you rest your hands on his shoulders and guide him back towards the mattress. Yet, the moment your hand touches the pillow, you stop. The fabric feels damp… no, it's soaked in sweat.
"Oh, damn…" So that's why. No wonder he'd been tossing and turning this whole time, he was probably very uncomfortable. You help him sit back up, "Law, do you have another pillow?"
"Not really."
Damn. You glance once more at the dark stain of sweat on the fabric. He can't keep sleeping like this, he'll only get worse.
"Alright… then you're borrowing mine." Sigh, "Wait for me, okay? I'll be right back."
"Mhmm."
You hurry towards the door, but Law's voice stops you the moment your hand reaches the doorknob, "Dun't forget the jellyfish."
…What?
You glance back, "Say that again?"
"The jellyfish…" he murmurs, "it's all spiky."
"Right… I– I'll keep that in mind."
You slip out of his room before he has the chance to say anything else and hurry to your cabin. Was that a tactile hallucination? He's definitely delirious. Better hurry back.
It only takes you a minute to grab your fluffiest pillow before heading back.
By the time you return, he's still sitting upright, with his head drooping forward and his eyes closed. You really hadn't been gone that long, and still he must have fallen asleep waiting for you. Poor thing, he really looks exhausted.
You quietly make your way over to the bed and set the pillow beside him. He startles awake, lifting his head and looking confused for a moment.
"Sorry," you murmur. "Let's change that pillow."
When he leans forward, you pull the damp pillow out from behind him and replace it with your own, giving it a couple of light pats to fluff it up.
"Mhm, you know what…" your eyes land on the stain of sweat soaking through the back of his shirt. "We're changing that too."
You walk over to his wardrobe and take a look, searching for something he'll find comfortable to sleep in. You pick one of his softer shirts, and leave it beside him. Then head to the bathroom to empty the water from the basin you'd been using to clean his sweat, and refill it with fresh warm water.
Carrying the basin back to the bedside, you set it down, soak one of the towels and wring it out.
"Come here, let's get you comfortable."
Law obediently leans forward as you help him out of the damp shirt. You place the warm towel across the back of his neck and begin to gently wipe away all the sweat from his shoulders and back.
"Is this temperature alright?"
He nods.
"Why didn't you tell me?" you murmur as you continue to run the warm towel across his back. "Were you really planning on sleeping like that?"
"Sorry... I– I didn't want to bother you anymore."
"You getting worse because you didn't want to bother me would definitely be more trouble." You rinse the towel, wring it once more and continue, taking your time until the clammy feeling on his skin is gone. "There."
The fact that he'd been lying there, wet and feverish because he didn't want to bother you makes your chest ache. If anything, it only makes you want to take even better care of him.
You help him into the clean shirt, smoothing the fabric over his shoulders. You reach for the towel one last time, brushing a few damp strands of hair away from his forehead.
"You're gonna be alright," you murmur as you give him a reassuring smile.
Law looks at you through heavy eyelids. He doesn't know whether it's the fever or the exhaustion, but your voice makes everything feel quieter.
"Here," you reach for the glass Penguin left on the bedside table and slice one arm behind his shoulder to help him steady, "you should drink a little."
Law gives a faint nod and reaches for the glass with both hands. His fingers curl weakly around it and they don't seem steady enough to hold it properly.
"Don't worry," you ease him, "I've got it."
He reluctantly lets go and you guide it to his lips. He takes a few small sips, swallowing slowly between each one.
When you tilt the glass towards him again, he pulls back and grimaces, and you can almost read the word 'enough' that's written across his face. You set the glass back on the bedside table.
Cradling the back of his head, you gently ease him down onto the pillow, careful not to make him any dizzier than he already is. You lean over him to pull the blanket back into place, tucking it around his sides and making sure the dry towel you've placed beneath his back doesn't bunch up.
From Law's perspective, the pounding in his head is still there, but it doesn't seem quite as important anymore. He's not entirely sure what you are doing, all he can focus on is your hair falling forward as you lean over him… the careful way your hands move around him, making sure he's comfortable in every way.
Maybe… maybe he should get sick more often.
He continues to watch you quietly, trying to capture the moment like a photograph tucked away in the back of his mind. He's still warm from the fever, but somehow it isn't the only warmth he feels now.
"You're beautiful... You know that?"
Had he been thinking straight, those words would've never left his mouth. Embarrassment feels strangely distant, and it doesn't even occur to him to take them back. You'd only ever appeared this close in his dreams. Now, he's not even sure whether he's dreaming anymore, everything feels hazy around the edges.
When you hand finds his forehead again, it's tender enough to make him wonder if he's imagined the whole thing.
Hesitantly, your hand lingers against his forehead for a moment. You know the fever is clearly clouding his thoughts. Even so, that doesn't stop warmth from rushing into your face.
Yeah… still burning. A faint smile finds its way to your lips, "Just sleep."
Your hand trails from his forehead to his cheek, cupping it for a second too long before you shyly pull it away.
Law lets out a dissatisfied hum, "Mhhmnn dun wanna."
"You don't want to sleep?"
"I feel funny…"
"Funny how?"
"Like... like I can't think," his brow pinches. "Like– I don't know what I'm saying."
Right…
"I'll take your temperature again."
You reach for the mercury thermometer and give it a few flicks before slipping it beneath his arm. Once the five minutes passed, you hold it up against the light, squinting your eyes as you check how far the silver line stretches this time.
"It's coming down…" you murmur. "Still high enough to make your brain a little mushy though. How's your head?"
"Still hurts... A little."
"Where?"
Law lifts a sluggish hand towards the side of his head, not lasting long before falling back to the mattress.
You try to sit closer to him, resting your fingertips where he'd been trying to point, "Here?"
"No, more to the side… More. There."
"Here?"
"Mhm," a relieved sigh escapes him, "feels better when you touch it."
Feels better when touched…
Your fingertips slip into his hair, your nails barely grazing his scalp so lightly that Law's eyes drift shut almost at once. You trace one, two... three soft circles against his scalp, and Law feels his entire body relax with a warm tingle that spreads from the crown of his head to the nape of his neck.
For the first time since you brought him to bed, the tension in his shoulders seems to melt away, along with the tightness of his jaw that begins to ease, making his lips slightly part.
Law lets out another quiet breath and leans into your hand, instinctively tilting his head in search of the warmth of your touch that's making him forget the heavy pounding of his head.
You can't help but smile… This is probably one of those moments that will stay with you for a very long time.
Your eyes drift to your notes on the desk. Pain relieved by gentle pressure… You should write that down.
You let your fingers linger one last time before pulling your hand away, but as you stand, something catches your wrist.
"Noo… where're you going?"
You can't help but laugh. When you look back, you find his fever-swollen eyes fixed on yours, silently waiting for you to change your mind. How are you supposed to say no to that?
"Sorry, I just need to get your medicine ready. I'll be right back, okay?"
Law's clearly annoyed, but after frowning quietly his fingers slowly loosen from your wrist. You catch his hand before it falls back to the bed and give it a small, reassuring squeeze before you let go and head to the desk.
You compare your notes with the medical book one last time, adding the new symptoms and finally settling on the medication that best matches what you've observed.
With your decision made, you head to one of the cabinets to prepare the correct dose.
—
After measuring the ingredients as carefully as you could, you mix them into a single dose and hurry back to Law's bedside. You're surprised to find him curled up around the pillow, both arms wrapped around it while his cheek had practically disappeared into it. It almost looked as if he were trying to bury himself in it. Pfft.
"Comfortable?"
His arms tighten around the pillow at the sound of your voice, lifting his face just enough to look at you with sleepy eyes.
"…It's soft," his cheek sinks right back into it, fingers curling lazily around it "…Smells nice."
Oh, for God's sake.
"Alright." You let out an exasperated sigh, trying very hard to ignore the warmth creeping to your face once again. You take your seat beside him, set the freshly prepared medicine on the table and guide the spoon to his mouth.
"Open," you say firmly, "Ah."
Law obeys reluctantly and swallows it in one go, but his face immediately twists in disgust.
"What is it?"
"…Tastes awful."
Serves you right. But the miserable look on his face immediately wipes the thought away.
Setting the spoon aside, you reach for the glass of water and help him take another sip to wash away the bitter taste.
"Sorry… The ship's doctor called in sick. Feel free to file a complaint once he's recovered."
Law lets out a small huff, almost a laugh.
"Better?"
He takes one final sip, "Yeah."
You set the glass back on the table and help him lie back down.
As you brush a few loose strands of hair away from his forehead, your fingers linger for a moment before finding their way back into his hair, almost on their own. This time, you don't really think about it; your fingers simply comb through the dark strands before coming to rest against his scalp.
Law relaxes beneath your hand, his shoulders sinking into the mattress. You chuckle when he gently nudges your hand with his head, as if asking for more, which you happily oblige and continue your lazy movements through his hair.
A heavy sigh escapes him.
"You really like this, huh?"
"Mhm," the tension on his brow almost disappears. "I… I like everything you do."
You take a deep breath. Your idiot of a captain isn't making this any easier. You try to gather yourself, "That's not exactly what I asked."
"I know."
His answer is so simple that it catches you completely off guard. Your smile falters for a second, and your fingers come to a stop before you even realize it.
After a few quiet seconds of not feeling you move, Law slowly opens his eyes. When he sees you, his lips curve into a sweet, silly smile, and you forget how to breathe.
You feel as if time has stopped, completely trapped by his eyes that begin to wander over your face, your hair, your cheeks, your lips… then slowly, back to your eyes.
"…You're beautiful."
Heat rushes to your face so quickly that you have to bite your lower lip to keep yourself from smiling like an idiot. Unable to hold his gaze any longer, you slip your fingers into his hair again, forcing yourself to think of something else and hoping your movements would distract him from noticing just how flustered he was making you.
"You already told me that."
"I did?"
You nod. He seems to think about it for a moment before humming to himself, quietly pleased. His eyelids flutter shut again as your fingers resume their slow, gentle caress through his hair.
"Hey," Law lets a long sigh, "…tell me something."
"Hm?"
"What…" his brow pinches slightly as he searches through the haze clouding his thoughts. "What do I have to do… to make you mine?"
You freeze.
"…What?"
Law opens his eyes, blinking slowly. But once he sees your startled expression, his own immediately shifts. "…Did I say something weird?"
"Ah– no no, it's just—"
"Shit, sorry," he says as he covers his face with both hands. It's the first time all day that you can see a hint of genuine embarrassment slipping through the fever. "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
"No, it's okay, I just—"
"It's just–" his frustrated voice cuts you off again, "It's just…. Hahhh…, I've been trying to give you hints for a while, but you never get them."
You still, staring at him for a few seconds as you try to process everything.
"You… you have?"
"…Yeah."
"Am I really that oblivious..?"
"Yeah."
"Wait, so– what you're telling me is… you've been pursuing me this whole time?"
"Yeah?"
The sheer sincerity of his answer makes you laugh, "Are you serious? Is that what you call that?"
Law frowns, grabs your hand, and tugs it away from his head, giving you the most offended look.
"Are you making fun of my tactics?"
That only makes you laugh harder. You'd never seen him pout before, and you could already imagine the unbearable embarrassment he'd go through once the fever breaks and he comes back to his senses.
"You definitely need better tactics, Captain."
Law actually considers that.
"…Alright," he says after a thoughtful pause, rubbing his thumb over the back of your hand. "Then promise me something." You turn your attention back to him, "Promise you won't run away."
"And why's that?" you tilt your head, amused. "Are you planning to abduct me?"
A sleepy smirk tugs at the corner of his mouth.
"Heh, do you want me to?" He lets out a quiet chuckle, his eyes drooping a little lower. "You're right. Maybe that's the only way you'll finally get it."
Smiling to yourself, you release your hand from his grip and return to his head.
"Alright," you say softly, "How about this. If you get some proper sleep, I'll let you steal me for one day."
His eyes beam and open wider, "One whole day?"
"From the moment the sun rises till it sets."
Law looks absurdly pleased with that answer, and you can't help but smile back at him.
or... Ok but Prince!Sanji not aware that his knight is in fact a woman?
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4
Time had stopped
Surrounded by prying eyes and inches to be stabbed, yet, all the prince could focus on was you: His savior
With ease, you take control of the situation, guarding Sanji even though he towered over you easily. Eyes sharp cut the men’s intentions in half, usually they wouldn’t fear someone like you: inferior in their eyes, but that sword clearly overpowered whatever plan they had in mind.
Yet they persist.
“Listen little girl, we really don’t have time for whatever game you’re trying to play” he speaks like he poses control of the situation, but clearly it’s slipping by the second -“stand aside and let me finish here”
“No” unrelenting, you stand your ground, position firm and steady. With a calculated move, the edge of your sword knocks the pocket knife on the main offender’s hand landing directly under your boots.
“What’s gonna happen is that you are stepping away and act like this never happened” Every word leaving your mouth is a distraction, you have already planned your scape- one motion and you’ll be out of here, you just had to wait for the perfect timing.
The Prince should be wiser and leave, or at the very least try to break the fight that was sure to happen; but this feelings: of relief that you were safe, this fated encounter and your forever protective presence has his heart running wild and craving more of this; this adventure, this you- the true you.
Beautiful, loyal and free
Before he can even think of what to do, your hand envelopes his, sure and grounding before you flee the scene. After much running, hiding and metal fighting metal, both of your backs hit a brick wall in a disgusting, empty alley.
It takes a beat before both of you catch your breath. Adrenaline spiking.
“Now that was quite an entrance” a charming smile breaks on the prince’s face, like the sun between the clouds
But it fades quickly
“Are you actually out of your mind?” Your eyes meet his and this look on you, it’s so unfamiliar and unsettling it has Sanji’s heart dropping to the very unwashed floor
“Excuse me?”
“Why are you here?!” The amount of emotions you had this poor man go trough in just one day is actually impressive. He looks at you, confused and even a little hurt.
A long sigh escapes you; you rummage your head trying to come up with a way to carefully explain how absolutely stupid he was for coming all the way down here.
You just couldn’t understand- “Your highness, you can’t go out of the palace’s walls, even worse by yourself and walk around like!-“ you stop yourself, guilty as your own screaming meets your ears… you shouldn’t even be talking to him as you are now, he doesn’t deserve it, and you are not talking about rank
Sanji has enough screaming
Still, the prince hangs to every word, every expression; he doesn’t know how to react, how to explain. Is only now he realizes he just not only put his life on the line- but yours
He shouldn’t be here. But he needs to
“I’ll walk you back” your tone softens, not even able to meet his gaze again. How could you betray his trust and then speak to him like that? You’re the one that needs to revise her behavior.
“I came here for you” it comes out of the prince’s mouth almost like a sad plead, a hopeful moment to fix this fiasco.
Silence hangs; for the second time in all this years you actually look at each other; the real you, not some version of yourselves trying to meet societies expectations and without anyone else’s burden on your shoulders.
“Your highness, I- I know lying to the crown is a crime and whatever consequence you decide on I will deserve but my family… I can’t-“
“You can’t leave me” now, not only was Sanji acting on what he wanted; he was demanding- a new spark behind his eyes, he felt alive.
You on the other hand, feel bare; not only because of your armor but his gaze- it sticks into every inch of your body: desperate
And you still can’t understand
And he doesn’t either. I mean if he puts things into perspective right now, he didn’t even knew your name and here he was acting selfishly, imposing his power, falling over you. Judgment clouded by emotion.
“But… I can’t I lied to everyone, my word to the crown, the kingdom, you! Useless… I am a fraud”
The distance between both of you grew shorter after every word. Sanji was never allowed to want, to feel; he had never been sure about any decision he was rarely allowed to make. A Prince forever trapped, doomed to be shaped like clay to the kings desires; but now, he sees a future and that’s only because of you
He needs you, about that he’s sure.
Both of his hands take yours, pleading now “You’re everything I have, please don’t leave me”
Leave it to a Prince to charm his way into your heart. You can only be breathless, heart pounding harder and harder in your ears- “Your highness”
“YOUR HIGNESS?” Another voice breaks through the air
The Captain of the Guard: Monkey D. Luffy catches the scene, both of you freeze
The Prince caught in a compromising position with a young woman is greater of a problem than the one you were caught before
Omg I am so so happy I stumbled upon your blog because you don’t know how I’m dying and living for your stories. You are an incredible writer, your stories are so vivid and colorful and the fact that you write with so much empathy and love for the characters- really this is one of the coziest corners of the internet for me, thank you so much.
If you’re taking requests rn, I absolutely love your Mexican reader fics (keeps adding fuel to my delulu fire) and I was wondering, could you write a fic for law x reader where the reader sets up a Día de muertos altar in the Tang? Like she explains what Día de muertos is to us here, the nostalgia but the color and the life and the whole atmosphere so she decides to set up the whole thing to help Law honor Cora a bit? I imagine her enlisting the help of all the crew for the cooking (even if the big loser doesn’t like pan de muerto, just cooking all the dead people’s favorite dishes) and the flowers and the papel picado and the candles and all, and it being like pre relationship between em but just having Law see death as a universal but not permanently devastating experience.
If you could write it that would be awesome! Thank you so so much, and even if you don’t, just know that I absolutely will keep reading every one of your works cause what a talent you have, que pluma tienes, verdad de Dios.
Take care :)
Love, daisy
OMG MUCHAS GRACIAS :,)
This is the first time I’ve ever shared my writing, so it means a lot you have no idea. I looove this idea, I had día de muertos in mind for law like a year ago but never picked it up, you’ve inspired me again!!!
you lose a bet and have to go on a date with law and your plan is to do your worse to ruin it — you fail

You already know this night is going to end badly.
It always does when Usopp grins like that.
“Double or nothing.” he says, leaning back against the railing, arms crossed “If you lose, you do whatever I say. No backing out.”
You squint at the cards in your hand “That’s suspiciously vague.”
Nami hums “Very suspicious.”
Luffy, sprawled on the deck, doesn’t even look up “Do it.”
You should not listen to Luffy.
You sigh “Fine. Double or nothing.”
Two minutes later, Usopp slams his cards down with a victorious laugh “Yes! I win!”
Groans erupt around the table.
You stare at your hand, then at the cards on the table “…You cheated.”
“I absolutely did not!” Usopp says immediately, which is how you know he absolutely did.
“What do I have to do?” you ask, already bracing yourself.
Usopp’s grin widens slowly and dangerously “You have to take Trafalgar Law out.”
The deck goes quiet.
“…Out where?” you ask.
Sanji’s cigarette nearly falls out of his mouth “Oi.”
Zoro opens his one eye “Good luck.”
Nami looks at you with actual concern, “Usopp...”
“On a date” Usopp finishes, far too cheerfully.
You choke “Absolutely not.”
Law, who has been leaning against a mast nearby, arms crossed, hat shadowing his eyes, lets out a low, unimpressed huff “Tch. As if I’d agree.”
You snap your head toward him “Good. We’re on the same page.”
Usopp raises a finger “Ah ah ah! You can’t back out. Those were the rules.”
Law’s eyes flick up, sharp and unimpressed “I wasn’t part of your little game.”
Robin smiles serenely “But you are part of the alliance. Cooperation is important, don’t you think?”
Law stares at her “…You planned this.”
Robin’s smile does not change.
You cross your arms “This is ridiculous. I don’t even understand him.”
Law scoffs “The feeling is mutual.”
“Great! Then this should be easy.” you say, pointing at Usopp “I take him out, we both hate it, bet fulfilled.”
Usopp blinks “…That’s not how it—”
“I’ll take him,” you interrupt “but it’s not a date, I refuse to call it a date.”
Law raises an eyebrow “Then what is it?”
You think for half a second “…Undercover reconnaissance. Studying the enemy together.”
Law stares at you “…You’re unbelievable.”
You grin sweetly “Glad we agree.”
Later that night, you regret everything.
The city is quiet, lanterns glowing softly, people moving through the streets.
You pull your cloak tighter around you, scowling while Law walks beside you, hands in his pockets, expression unreadable as always.
The silence is unbearable.
“So,” you say brightly, already planning his suffering “This is fun.”
“It’s not.” Law replies flatly.
“Wow, you didn’t even let me pretend.”
He stops walking.
“This alliance is already irritating enough,” he says, turning to face you “Don’t make it worse by acting like this.”
You tilt your head “Like what?”
“Like you’re enjoying this.”
“Oh, I’m not.” you say immediately “Trust me.”
He studies you for a moment, eyes narrowing “Then why did you insist on coming?”
“Because I lost a bet.”
“…You’re joking.”
“Nope.”
Law exhales slowly, pinching the bridge of his nose “I should’ve stayed on the ship.”
“You still can,” you say “I won’t stop you.”
“…And give your crew the satisfaction? No.”
You snort “Wow. So noble.”
He shoots you a glare “Watch your mouth.”
You grin wider… annoyance achieved.
You know him well enough now to know he doesn't like noise and people, so you drag him into the busiest street you can find with merchants shouting and people bumping into him from every direction.
Law clicks his tongue “This is inefficient.”
“Relax,” you say “blend in. Be normal.”
“I am normal.”
You laugh way too loudly for his liking and several people glance over “Sure you are, Surgeon of Death.”
His jaw tightens “Don’t call me that.”
“Why? It’s your title.”
“I don't need people to hear it.”
“Oh,” you say innocently “my bad.”
Silence again.
You stop at a food stall, the smell of fried batter thick in the air.
“Oooh, this looks terrible…” you say, already reaching for your wallet “We should eat here.”
Law looks at the oil, the questionable hygiene, the vendor coughing into his sleeve “…Absolutely not.”
“Too late!” you say, ordering two skewers “Come on, it’ll build character.”
“I don’t need character.”
“Everyone needs character!” you say, shoving one into his hand.
He stares at it like it might explode “This is your idea of reconnaissance?”
“Yep.”
“…You’re doing this on purpose.”
You beam “You’re smarter than you look.”
He finally takes a bite and freezes.
You watch closely “Well?”
“…It’s fine.” he admits reluctantly.
You blink “Wait, really?”
He glares at you “Don’t make a big deal out of it.”
“Well now I’m disappointed…” you say “That was supposed to be awful… I should have been more evil and bought you a sandwich instead.”
Law looks at you again as he mutters “You’re strange.”
You shrug “You’re rude.”
“Hm.”
Another silence, but it’s… different. Less sharp… still uncomfortable, but not hostile.
You start walking again.
“Just so we’re clear,” Law says quietly, “this doesn’t count as a date.”
You grin to yourself “Good. I’m not done ruining it anyway.”
He sighs and for just a second you swear there’s the faintest hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
Your next plan is simple.
If you can’t ruin the date with attitude, you’ll ruin it with incompetence.
You lead Law down a quieter street, too peaceful and way too atmospheric.
In simple words… disgusting for him and for you.
“So,” you say, hands clasped behind your back “We should split up.”
Law stops immediately “No.”
You blink “…No?”
“No.” he repeats, flat and final “That defeats the entire point of an undercover reconnaissance.”
You frown “Wow. You’re really committed to this fake mission.”
“It’s not fake.”
“It absolutely is…” you say “you’re just allergic to fun.”
He gives you a sideways look “And you’re allergic to common sense.”
You grin “That’s fair.”
You take one step forward and immediately trip “WHoa!”
Your foot catches on absolutely nothing. You flail, arms windmilling, dignity leaving your body…
Before a hand grabs the back of your cloak and yanks you upright.
You slam straight into Law’s chest. His arms instinctively come up, steadying you by the shoulders.
For a second, neither of you moves.
You’re painfully aware of how close he is, of the warmth through his coat, of the way his grip tightens slightly, like he’s making sure you’re actually standing.
“…Are you always like this?” he asks.
You wheeze “Gravity hates me.”
He exhales through his nose “Clearly.”
You pull back quickly, cheeks warm “Relax. I meant to do that.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“Rude.”
“You nearly broke your neck.”
“But I didn’t,” you say proudly “See? Ruining the mood already.”
Law stares at you “…That’s what you’re trying to do?”
You squint “Is it not working?”
“No.” he says immediately.
You smile “Good.”
You keep walking. Slightly more carefully this time.
You drag him into a tiny shop selling trinkets and charms, bells chiming as you enter.
Law pauses at the door “Why are we here?”
You pick up a cheap-looking good-luck charm and shove it toward him “Souvenir.”
“I don’t want one.”
“Too bad,” you say “this one’s for emotional damage.”
He pinches the bridge of his nose “You’re terrible at this.”
“At what?”
“At making me miserable.”
You gasp “Wow. That almost sounded like a compliment.”
“It obviously wasn’t.”
You move deeper into the shop, immediately knocking over a small display “Oh! Oh no! Sorry!”
You scramble to catch it, knocking over another one in the process.
Law watches in silence as you crouch on the floor, apologizing profusely to the shopkeeper, hands full of tangled strings and charms.
“…You don’t do this on purpose.” he says slowly.
You look up “Do what?”
“Trip. Drop things. Get distracted.”
You snort “Please. If I could control it, my life would be way easier.”
The shopkeeper waves you off, muttering, and you stand up, mortified.
“See?” you say quickly, shoving a random charm into Law’s hand “Awful date. Mission accomplished.”
Law looks down at the charm, then at you.
“…You’re not pretending.” he murmurs.
You pause “Pretending what?”
“That you don’t care.” something in his tone makes you falter.
You scoff lightly “Don’t read into it, Surgeon. I just don’t want to be here.”
“Hm.” he says, unconvinced. But he doesn’t put the charm down.
Later you’re sitting on the edge of a quiet bridge, legs dangling over the water.
You kick your feet back and forth “Okay, new strategy.”
Law leans against the railing beside you “I’m almost afraid to ask.”
“I’m going to be honest…” you say “Brutally honest.”
He glances at you “You haven’t been?”
“Oh no, this is worse.” you take a breath “Your attitude sucks.”
He doesn’t react.
“You’re rude,” you continue “you push people away. You act like you’re smarter than everyone else.”
“Hm...”
“And you’re kind of exhausting.”
Silence.
You nod to yourself “There. Ruined.”
Law turns to face you fully “…Is that really what you think?”
You shrug “Yeah.”
“…Then why are you here?” he asks quietly.
You open your mouth, then stop as your brain short-circuits.
“…Because… I lost a bet.” you say again, but it comes out weaker this time.
Law studies you for a long moment.
“You could’ve half-assed it,” he says “but you didn’t.”
You frown “I literally tried to make this awful.”
“And failed.” he says.
You huff “You’re impossible.”
“And you’re,” he hesitates, “different.”
You stiffen “Different how?”
He looks away “Annoyingly sincere.”
You blink “That’s new.”
“I don’t like it.” he adds quickly.
You grin “Liar.”
He shoots you a glare, but there’s no heat behind it.
“…You’re clumsy.” he mutters “You say the wrong thing. You don’t think before you act.”
“Hey—”
“And yet,” he continues, “you’re honest. You don’t pretend to like me. You don’t try to impress me. You're not scared.”
You go quiet.
Law crosses his arms “It’s… refreshing.”
Your chest does something weird.
You clear your throat “Don’t get used to it.”
“I won’t.” he says immediately.
Another silence falls but this one is comfortable.
You kick your feet again.
“…So,” you say casually “Did I ruin the date?”
Law watches the lantern reflections in the water.
“…No.” he admits.
You smile defeated.
“Damn…” you say “Guess I’ll have to try harder.”
Law exhales, almost amused and he absolutely does not notice how he doesn’t want the night to end.
The night goes on.
The fact that Law hasn’t insulted you in at least ten minutes makes you feel weird.
You walk side by side, close enough that your sleeves brush every now and then.
At some point you trip again and Law’s hand is already there, fingers curling around your wrist, steady and firm.
“…Watch your step.” he says.
You blink at his hand “…You grabbed me before I even moved.”
He freezes, then lets go immediately, like he’s been burned “Habit.”
“From what?” you ask.
“…Keeping idiots alive.”
You laugh softly “Lucky me.”
He doesn’t respond but he slows his pace after that.
You notice.
You stop at another stall, this one selling warm drinks. You squint at the menu.
“What is that?” you ask, pointing.
Law leans in to look “Sweet bean soup.”
“That sounds fake.”
“It’s not.”
You grimace “I don’t trust it.”
“…I’ll get it.” he says.
You blink “You don’t have to.”
“I know.”
He orders two anyway, and when the cups are handed over, he passes one to you and your fingers brush.
You immediately fumble it “Oh… oh no—”
Before it spills, Law’s other hand covers yours, steadying the cup.
“Careful.” he mutters.
Your face feels warm “I’m being careful.”
“You’re really not.”
You take a sip “…Okay. That’s actually good.”
“Hm.”
You glance at him “Did you just look smug?”
“No.”
“You absolutely did.”
“I didn’t.”
You smile into your cup.
At some point, you realize you’ve stopped trying to ruin things. The thought hits you out of nowhere, sharp and uncomfortable.
You’re sitting on the steps of a closed building now, shoulders brushing. Law is looking over a map, brows furrowed.
“…You’re frowning.” you say.
“I always frown.”
“No, this is a thinking frown.” you argue “Different… shape.”
He sighs “Stop staring.”
“Make me.”
He glances at you “You’re doing it again.”
“Doing what?”
“Acting like you’re not tired.”
You blink “…What?”
“You yawned five minutes ago,” he says “And you’ve been rubbing your eyes.”
You scoff “You’re imagining things.”
“Lie better.”
You open your mouth to argue but you yawn again.
Law looks away, hiding his face from you.
“…Did you just… laugh?” you ask.
“No.”
“You did.”
“I didn’t.”
“Wow,” you say “I should yawn more often if this is what it gets me.”
He snorts softly before he can stop himself. He goes very still.
“…You heard that.” he says flatly.
You grin “Absolutely.”
“Tch.”
But he doesn’t look annoyed, just… flustered. And that’s worse.
Later, your foot starts to ache. You don’t mention it, you just slow down.
Law notices anyway.
“Sit,” he says, nodding toward a low wall “I’m fine.”
“You’re limping.”
“I am not.”
“You are.”
You sigh dramatically “You’re very bossy for someone who hates me.”
“I don’t hate you.” he says.
The words land between you, heavy.
You look at him “…You don’t?”
He pauses “…I thought I did.”
Your chest tightens a little.
He crouches in front of you without another word, inspecting your ankle.
“Law—what are you doing?”
“You twisted it earlier,” he says “it’s minor.”
He presses gently and you flinch.
“Sorry.” he says immediately, hands pulling back.
You stare “…You said sorry.”
He stiffens “…Don’t make it weird.”
You laugh softly “Too late.”
He stands, offering a hand, and you take it.
When the night starts winding down, neither of you mentions going back.
You reach the edge of the district, lanterns thinning, quiet settling in.
“…This wasn’t as bad as I expected.” you admit.
Law hums “Same.”
You hesitate “I didn’t ruin it.”
“No,” he says “You didn’t.”
You look at the ground “I kind of forgot to try at some point.”
Another pause.
“…Me too.” he says.
You look up.
He’s not looking at you but his ears are faintly red.
Your heart does something stupid.
“…This still wasn’t a date.” you say weakly.
“No.” he agrees.
But neither of you sounds convinced.
When you part ways, he hesitates.
“…Seems like they're all sleeping. Get some rest.” he says “You’re reckless when you’re tired.”
You smile “You worry a lot for someone who doesn’t like me.”
He meets your eyes this time “…I never said that.”
And then he turns and walks away before you can respond.
You stand there, heart racing, realizing something terrifying.
You lost the bet.
And somehow, you don’t feel like you really lost it.
You wake up tired, aware that something shifted last night, aware that Law’s voice keeps replaying in your head.
You bury your face into your pillow.
“This is stupid” you mumble.
You make the mistake of going to breakfast.
The second you sit down, Usopp leans across the table.
“Well?” he asks.
You don’t look at him “Well what?”
Nami sips her tea “Don’t play dumb.”
“I’m not.”
“You absolutely are!” Usopp says “How was the date?”
“It wasn’t a date.”
Luffy looks up from his food “Did you kiss?”
You choke “WHAT?! No!”
Everyone is looking at you as if they're waiting for you to say something wow.
“It was reconnaissance.” you insist.
Nami hums “And did you gather valuable intelligence?”
You freeze “…Maybe.”
Usopp gasps dramatically “YOU KISSED HIM!”
“I DID NOT!!”
Nami narrows her eyes “You’re smiling.”
You immediately wipe your face “No I’m not.”
“You are.”
You stand abruptly “This conversation is over.”
Usopp leans back in his chair, smug “So you had fun.”
You turn slowly “…I didn’t hate it.”
The table goes silent.
Nami and Usopp exchange a look.
“Oh no…” Nami whispers.
You avoid Law all morning, which is difficult, because he doesn’t avoid you.
He’s on deck when you pass by. His eyes flick toward you and you look away first.
Coward.
Later, during a strategy discussion, you both speak at the same time.
You stop “You go.”
He shakes his head “No. You.”
You stare at him.
He waits.
“…You just let me go first?” you say slowly.
“I did.”
“…Why?”
He shrugs “You looked like you were about to argue.”
You blink.
He noticed that?
You clear your throat and explain your plan while he just listens.
When you finish, he nods once “That works.”
Your stomach flips.
Zoro raises an eyebrow when Law silently hands you a map without being asked.
Sanji nearly drops a tray when Law moves you out of the way of a swinging rope before you can trip over it.
Usopp straight up squints at you both.
“Why are you standing so close?” he demands at one point.
You and Law both step away immediately.
“We’re not.” you say.
“We weren’t.” Law says at the same time.
You glare at each other.
Usopp gasps “You even argue in sync now!”
That evening, you’re alone on deck, or you think you are.
“…You’re avoiding me.”
You don’t jump this time, you just sigh “No I’m not.”
Law steps beside you, leaning on the railing “You are.”
You stare at the water “Maybe.”
Silence stretches.
“…Did I do something?” he asks.
You look at him “…Why would you think that?”
“Because you’re different today.”
You huff softly “You’re different too.”
He frowns “How?”
“You’re… nicer.”
He looks almost offended “I am not.”
“You are,” you insist “You’ve been watching where I walk. You let me talk in the meeting. You handed me that map.”
“That’s basic decency.”
“You never did basic decency before.”
He opens his mouth and then closes it with a “…Tch.”
You laugh under your breath.
“Law,” you say, softer now “What are we doing?”
His jaw tightens slightly “…Nothing.”
“That’s not true.” you swallow “Last night wasn’t nothing.”
His eyes shift to you.
“…No.” he admits.
Your heart pounds.
“You meant it… you don’t hate me.” you say.
“No.”
“And I don’t hate you.”
“I know.”
You blink “You… know?”
“You’re terrible at hiding things.” he says quietly.
You look away quickly “You’re worse.”
He doesn’t deny it this time.
Your shoulder brushes his and neither of you moves away.
“…I didn’t mean to.” he says suddenly.
“To what?”
“Start… stopping disliking you.”
You laugh softly at his word play and say “So you like me.”
“Yes.” He says with no hesitation.
Your brain goes completely blank “…You… what?”
He exhales sharply “You’re clumsy. You’re loud. You’re impulsive.”
“Wow, romance.”
“And you’re honest,” he continues, ignoring you “And stubborn. And you don’t treat me like I’m made of glass or like I’m something to fear.”
You stare at him.
“You trip over your own feet,” he mutters “but you don’t back down from me.”
Your chest feels too tight.
“I tried to ruin that night.” you whisper.
“I know.”
“…I forgot how.”
He looks at you fully now “…I’m glad.”
The confession hangs there, fragile and terrifying.
You take a breath “I like you too.”
It’s small, but it’s steady.
Law goes very still “…Say that again.”
You narrow your eyes “Don’t push it.”
A faint smile touches his mouth.
You freeze “…You’re smiling again.”
“You’re imagining it.”
“I’m not.”
He steps closer.
“…If I asked you,” he says carefully, “to go out again.”
Your heart skips.
“Not fake or real reconnaissance.” he adds “Not a bet.”
Your throat goes dry “…A real date?”
“Yes.”
You grin despite yourself “You’re terrible at this.”
“I know.”
You step closer too.
“Okay,” you say “but this time, I’m not going to try to ruin it.”
He tilts his head slightly “…Good.”
Your fingers brush his.
You don't tell anyone, that’s the first rule.
The second rule is simple: you don’t call it a date, even if it is… because it’s just embarrassing now.
It’s late when you sneak out, and climb down as quietly as you can.
You almost slip, but a hand steadies your waist.
“…Careful.” Law murmurs.
You freeze.
He’s closer than you expected. One hand still on you, firm and warm.
“Is everyone asleep?” you whisper.
“They are, if you stop tripping with air. You could hurt yourself badly.”
You try not to smile “You worry too much.”
“And you don’t worry enough.”
You hop down onto the dock.
The night feels different from the other evening.
Softer.
Lanterns glow warm against wooden walls, laughter echoing faintly from distant streets.
You glance at him.
He looks… less guarded but still serious and composed.
“…So,” you say “no undercover mission.”
“No.”
“No fake reconnaissance.”
“No.”
You grin “Just us?”
He hesitates “…Just us.”
Your heart does something stupid again.
Layer on, you spot something shiny hanging between two buildings “Oh—wait!”
Without thinking, you grab his sleeve and pull.
Law stiffens immediately.
You drag him toward a small display of glass wind chimes painted in soft colors.
“Look at them!” you whisper “They’re so pretty.”
He looks at the chimes, then at your hand gripping his sleeve, then back at the chimes.
“Hm…” he says.
You squint at him “That’s your review?”
“They’re… well-crafted.”
You laugh “You’re hopeless.”
You lean closer to inspect one. Your shoulder presses against his chest, and he goes rigid.
You don’t notice.
“They make such a soft sound” you say, nudging one gently.
The chime rings lightly in the night air.
Law swallows.
“…You like delicate things?” he says quietly.
You blink at him “I like pretty things.”
He looks at you like that answers something for him “…It suits you.”
Your brain short-circuits “…What does?”
“Liking them.”
You stare, and he looks away first.
You keep walking.
At some point, your fingers brush.
Then again.
The third time, neither of you pull back immediately.
Your pinky hooks with his.
It’s subtle.
But it’s enough to make your heart race.
Law’s ears turn faintly red and you notice, but don’t say anything, just smile at it.
Then as you keep walking around, you see a stall glowing brighter than the rest.
Flowers everywhere. Red ribbons. Heart-shaped decorations. Boxes of chocolates stacked neatly.
You slow.
“…That wasn’t here last time.” you murmur.
Law follows your gaze and his steps falter slightly.
A sign above the stall reads: Celebrate Love — Special Evening Offer
You blink “…Is it—?”
“…It appears so.” he says.
Realization hits you both at the same time.
“Valentine’s Day.”
You look at each other, then immediately look away.
Silence.
The stall owner, an older woman with kind eyes, beams at you both.
“Oh! What a lovely pair!” she says brightly “New couples are most welcome to celebrate love tonight!”
You freeze.
Law freezes harder.
“…We’re not—” you both start at the same time.
The woman laughs gently “Oh, you don’t need to deny it. It’s written all over your faces.”
Your face burns.
Law clears his throat “It’s a misunderstanding.”
“Of course.” she says knowingly, already reaching for two roses “Here. A gift for young love.”
She holds them out.
You hesitate only half a second before accepting one.
“…Thank you.” you say, trying to sound normal… but you absolutely fail.
You don’t look at Law. You don’t acknowledge the warmth in your chest at being called a couple. You definitely don’t smile at the thought.
Law takes the other rose stiffly.
“…You don’t have to.” he mutters to the vendor.
“It’s my pleasure.” she says warmly.
She winks at you.
You might combust.
You walk away from the stall in silence.
You can feel the tension and the awareness.
You glance at him and see him staring very intently at the rose in his hand.
“…You don’t have to keep it,” you say quickly “if it’s awkward.”
He tightens his grip slightly “I didn’t say that.”
You look down at yours “…It’s nice.”
“Yes.”
“…Do you mind?” he asks quietly.
You look up confused.
He gestures slightly toward your hand “…May I?”
Your heart skips but you nod.
Slowly and carefully, his fingers slide around yours.
This time, it’s not accidental, not brushing and not subtle. It’s deliberate.
His hand is warm. You squeeze it.
He exhales softly, almost like he’s been holding that breath all night.
“…You’re blushing.” you whisper.
“And you look embarrassed.”
“…I’m allowed.”
“So am I.”
You laugh quietly and then you keep walking like that, hand in hand.
Later, you stop by the river again, the same bridge from the other night.
You lean against the railing, rose tucked carefully into your coat.
“…This is better.” you admit.
“Yes.”
“No sabotage.”
“No.”
You look at him “…Are you having fun?”
He studies you for a moment “…I am.”
Your smile softens “…Me too.”
The night air is cool, making you shiver slightly, and without a word, he removes his coat and drapes it over your shoulders.
“Law—”
“Don’t argue.”
You wrap it around yourself, it smells faintly like him.
“You’re unfair…” you murmur.
“How?”
“You do these things.”
“What things?”
“Small things.”
He goes quiet “…I don’t do them intentionally.”
“I know.”
That’s what makes it worse.
You’re closer now, close enough that your foreheads nearly brush.
You swallow “…Can I ask something?”
“Yes.”
“…Can I kiss you?”
Law stops breathing “…You don’t have to ask.”
“I want to.”
He studies your face. Your nervousness. Your honesty.
“…Yes.” he says softly.
And when you lean in, he meets you halfway.
It’s gentle, tentative… warm.
His hand tightens slightly around yours like he’s afraid you’ll disappear.
You pull back slowly.
He rests his forehead against yours.
“…This.” he murmurs, voice low, almost vulnerable.
“…Yeah.” you whisper.
“This is better than reconnaissance.”
You laugh softly against his lips “Definitely.”
And under the lantern light, with roses in your hands and the quiet hum of the city around you, your second first date becomes something really special.
The walk back is quiet but not awkward.
You don’t hold hands. Not because you don’t want to, but because Law is Law and also because he walks half a step ahead of you, hands in his pockets, posture composed again. The closer you get to the Sunny, the more you can feel him rebuilding those familiar walls.
Still, he slows when you slow.
You walk closer than before. When you trip slightly on the dock, again, his hand immediately finds your elbow, it's automatic.
You glance at him and he lets go quickly.
“…Careful.” he mutters.
You smile softly “You too.”
He huffs quietly, like he knows exactly what you mean.
The ship is dark and quiet.
You exhale in relief.
“See?” you whisper “Everyone’s still asleep.”
Law nods once “Good.”
You both climb aboard.
You turn toward him, suddenly shy now that it’s over “…So.”
“So.” he echoes.
Your fingers fidget with the stem of the rose you’re still holding “…Tonight was nice.”
He looks at you softly.
“Yes.” he says simply.
Your heart does the thing again.
You step a little closer “…Goodnight, Law.”
He hesitates, then, very quietly “Goodnight.”
And then, suddenly, the lights explode on.
You jump and scream.
Law visibly flinches.
Every single Straw Hat is there.
Staring.
Lined up like a firing squad.
You freeze “Oh no...”
Nami crosses her arms “Oh yes.”
Usopp is already vibrating “YOU WERE GONE FOR HOURS.”
Sanji looks like he’s holding back tears “My poor, innocent—”
“Stop talking.” you croak.
Luffy grins “So did you kiss?”
You choke on air.
Zoro looks like he was dragged there but he snorts at that.
Robin sips tea calmly like this is a stage play she paid to attend.
You slowly turn to Law “…Kill me.”
“…I might.” he mutters.
“Where were you?” Usopp demands.
“Nowhere.” you say immediately.
“Together…” Nami adds sweetly.
You stiffen “We were not—”
“You’re holding a rose.” Robin points out gently.
You look down and try to hide it behind your back, but it’s too late.
Sanji gasps like he’s been shot “A LOVE TOKEN?!”
“IT WAS FREE!” you shout.
“FROM WHERE?!” Usopp yells.
You panic “FROM—FROM A STALL.”
Nami narrows her eyes “A romantic stall?”
You sweat “A… seasonal one.”
Robin smiles knowingly “I wonder what celebration day is today.”
You want the ocean to swallow you.
You risk a glance at Law. Big mistake. Because they’re all looking at him now.
Predators.
“Oh this is good.” Zoro mutters.
“Traffy~,” Luffy sings “Why are you blushing?”
Law immediately turns away “I’m not.”
His ears are red.
Usopp gasps like he just discovered fire “HE IS!”
You clap your hands over your face “I’m going to die.”
Nami steps closer, eyes sharp “Let’s skip the nonsense.”
Your soul leaves your body.
“How,” she asks slowly, “did you two go from mutual irritation…” she gestures between you “…to this?”
Silence.
You look at Law and he looks at you.
You both immediately look away.
You want to evaporate.
“We’re not—” you start weakly.
“Don’t.” Law mutters.
You stop.
The crew collectively leans forward.
Oh no no no………
Law exhales slowly, like he’s about to walk into battle.
“…It wasn’t planned.” he says flatly.
Usopp squints “That sounds like a confession.”
“It’s not.” Law snaps.
Robin tilts her head “But it is an explanation.”
Law goes still.
You can see the exact moment he realizes there is no winning this.
He sighs “…We went out. So what?”
Sanji clutches his chest. Nami’s smile turns feral. Usopp collapses dramatically onto the deck “IT’S REAL.”
You grab your head “STOP MAKING IT A THING.”
“It IS a thing!” Usopp screeches.
“It’s not!”
“You’re standing closer than usual!” he fires back.
You both immediately step apart, but it’s too late, because everyone sees.
Luffy beams “So you’re together now?”
You freeze, your brain shuts down completely. You look at Law and he looks at you. And for once, he doesn’t look away.
“…Yes.” he says.
Soft and certain.
Your heart explodes while the ship erupts.
Sanji screams into the night. Usopp sobs. Nami smirks like she just won a lifetime bet. Robin smiles warmly. Zoro just shakes his head, amused.
You stand there, completely stunned.
“…You said it like that?” you whisper.
Law glances at you, calm despite the chaos.
“You were going to panic.” he says quietly.
“…I was.” you admit.
“I know.”
Your chest aches in the best way.
You glare weakly at the crew “I hate all of you.”
“We love you too!” Usopp cries.
Nami pats your shoulder “You were never subtle.”
“I was extremely subtle!”
“You brought a rose.” she says flatly.
You deflate. Fair.
As the chaos continues, Law leans slightly closer to you enough that your shoulders touch again.
“…You’re terrible at sneaking.” he murmurs.
You groan “This is your fault too.”
“…Hm.”
You glance at him. He looks almost amused.
“You’re not even embarrassed?” you accuse.
“I am.” he says calmly.
“You don’t look it.”
“I’m choosing not to show it.”
You squint “Unfair.”
He looks down at you, something warm in his eyes “…You show enough for both of us.”
You sigh, defeated “…Next time we sneak out, we sail to another island.”
“Agreed.”
You both pause, then… “…There will be a next time?” you ask quietly.
He doesn’t hesitate “Yes.”
And surrounded by chaos, teasing, and far too many smug faces, you realize your life just changed forever, and all thanks to a bet.

“Are you afraid?” Yo dropped your pencil, turned eyes wide and a gasp escaped your mouth “Robin you scared me half to death!” You collected the pencil from the floor as the woman sat in front of you with a coffee mug in hand “Are you?” You looked at her puzzled “Afraid of what?” Robin motioned her head to where you were once glancing before she made you jump in your seat, the cook serving an afternoon drink to Nami “Sanji?” You laughed “The only man that scares me a little in this ship is probably Zoro” you said while looking back at your notebook “I meant, are you afraid to love, y/n?” Robin asked while pointing at the sketch of the blonde you had made beside your annotations. Red colored your face, hands sweaty “Quite the contrary actually… but him” you glanced at Sanji again as he swooned around the annoyed navigator “I don’t think he likes me the way I do, I just happen to be a woman and he happens to love them” the black haired woman giggled as you looked at her confused once more “If you allowed to open yourself to him, I’m sure you’ll change your mind…”
So you did
You talked and talked to Sanji, spending time together, flirting back every now and then even if it made you mad nervous and making sure he noticed how you’ll treat him differently from the rest, you were patient, understanding and caring. Of course he didn’t stop being a huge flirt with every single woman he’ll stumble upon on, but he did something more meaningful for you , he made you a space in his heart. He would tell you about his dream, his passions, his past and just all about him, parts no one else saw but you, as well as he saw parts of you one else did, and eventually Sanji realized that love wasn’t always loud and over the top, love was looking at your person and feeling safe, warm and at peace. So yeah maybe he would skip and spin while serving Robin a coffee and would make heart eyes whenever Nami addressed him, but with you, he was himself and nothing else.
“Are you coming to the Island?” You were leaning in the door frame of the kitchen, Sanji jumped, he was seated at the counter with a cooking book in hand absolutely lost in thought “Oh Flower! Didn’t see you there” he closed it immediately as he saw you standing in the room “No dear I… I’m staying to keep watch on the ship!” You frowned.
This last week the cook had been acting quite strange, whenever you wanted to initiate a conversation he would cut it short, whenever your hands brushed he would back up, his eyes wouldn’t even cross your way. This was absolutely weird behavior considering you two were considerably more close than anyone in the crew, you hoped to talk to him about the matter during a walk around the Island “But you always restock the fridge” you walked closer which made him flinch “I gave the stupid moss head the list of things we need, I’ll wait here!” a piercing silence filled the room, he felt distant “Sanji what’s wro-“ you were loudly interrupted by Luffy who barged in “Y/n!!! Are you coming or not?”
“Yes, I guess I am”
Did you smell? Did you said or do something wrong? Did you looked uglier? Was there something different? Was he bored of you? He was probably all this time super sweet to you for mere entertainment right? A million questions overwhelmed you, you just couldn’t place what had possibly changed between you two.
“Y/n? Are you even listening?” After buying new plants and seeds for the garden, you decided to join Nami and Robin at the local boutique, you needed a distraction but it seemed you were the one distracting yourself “Is there something wrong?” Robin asked quite worried, you shook your head and tried to brush it off but your hands grew green moss and sharp roses, you couldn’t hide your emotions even if you tried. The two girls shared a look, they respected your decision to not talk about the matter and they were not gonna pressure you to say anything you didn’t want to “How about we find you a new sundress?” Nami smiled your way “Nah, I’m a gardener, dresses are not very practical”
But you underestimated the navigators persuasive abilities, now you had tried 6 dresses already, none of them convincing enough for your friend. You heard Robin’s muffled laugh coming form outside the dresser “I had never seen such a serious hunt for a dress” you sighed “Tell me about it” yet another dress appeared hanging in the door behind you “Ow c’mon you guys this is fun! I’m having fun” Nami defended. You tried on the next dress and for your surprise it planted a smile on your face, it was red and it tied with a delicate bow in the front, giving apace to show all the beautiful jewelry you always wore around your neck, with short princess like puffy sleeves with an opening in the side of your legs that showed a white fabric with red flowers under it. As you came out of the dresser and spinned around for your friends, it was like you had completely forgotten about the cook “I am amazingggg” Robin clapped at Namis incredible styling skills “Are you sure you still want to be a pirate?” You asked her, smile wide “I can be a pirate AND a stylist” she winked
You decided to head back to the Sunny, inevitably insecurity made its way trough your stomach, you still weren’t ready to face Sanji about whatever the hell he had going on. You arrived and to your surprise there was no sight of him, you thought he was keeping an eye on the ship… you payed it no mind and went to your room to cool off for the day. After putting your shopping away, you decided to slip on the red sundress and have a little picnic by yourself, picking the fresh fruit from your garden and reading while sitting in the sunset sounded like a perfect plan for you… but it seemed like someone beat you to it.
As you walked closer to the garden delicious smells filled your senses, it made you close your eyes in enjoyment and took in a big breath, confused but curious you looked for the source of the smell. There standing next to two beautiful plated dinners in a picnic blanket, a rose and a candle in the middle of the food and drinks already poured in was Sanji, who played with nervous hands with the ring you had gifted him that now hanged form his neck. He looked handsomely dressed in coincidentally a red satin shirt, buttons loosened up, sleeves were up showing his strong arms, formal black pants and he had gelled his hair back enough to show both of his ocean blue eyes that enchanted you and most importantly no cigarette in sight! “Sanji? What the hell is happening?” The blonde cook surely didn’t expected you to show up in such a beautiful dress, mouth agape he stuttered “I.. uhm” you got closer and dismissed the book in your hands, now you really could witness how nervous the man was, cheeks and ears red and shaky breath.
You looked… upset? confused? Sanji couldn’t place the look in your face, he was already nervous looking at you and now he felt sick as he witnessed your brows scrunch together at his sight “I made this for you” was all he could let out, but you couldn’t even look at the scenery as you frantically searched for his gaze “Are you serious?” You let out a sarcastic laugh “You really think I’m just gonna ignore the fact you suddenly started to avoid me like the plague and was just overall rude to me just because you did a picnic for me?!” What? “What?” He didn’t understand what was happening, him rude? To you? That sounded atrocious. All around you the plants in the garden grew and surrounded your figure “I am not just one of your lady friends thats gonna fall for your stupid games Sanji. If you really think you can just ignore me because you got bored of me and then try and win me back with a flirty date night you’re out of your mind”
Then everything clicked in the cooks mind, he had indeed messed up. He had been planing this whole thing for so long, down to every last detail that being around you made him nervous and he would’ve quite probably spoiled everything, so he didn’t notice how to you, who had no clue about what was happening, his behavior may have came across as rude. You shook your head, you didn’t even wanted answers anymore “This is stupid” as you tried to turn around and leave, Sanji stopped you by pulling your wrist which made you stumble into his embrace; as he held you close you could listen to his heart and swore you could feel it against your own skin, it was pounding like crazy “It would be impossible for me to treat you like a simple fling my love, for me you’re my forever”
Now the one nervous and embarrassed was you, his voice echoed through his chest as you started to realize what was actually going on, the plants that once surrounded you now gone “I was so busy trying to make this picnic perfect for you that I didn’t notice how I was acting, the mere thought of you made my heart stop” you stepped back a little to look at his face, Oh~ “I’m really really stupid aren’t I?” You whispered as your face matched the color of both your garments, your head had played terrible tricks on you, the blonde just laughed “Sunlight, were both stupid” time seemed to had stopped around you, Sanji had positioned one hand in your lower back while the other held your face, yours intertwined with his chest. Suddenly everything seemed to make sense, you were supposed to he right there right in that moment; In the Sunny that held your dearest memories and favorite people, with waves that crashed in like an old tune, in your sacred garden your safe place, sunset shining from behind the man you had poured your heart out to making him look like a being of light and warmth, you had dreamt of this “You know what would be pretty stupid of us?” your lips brushed as you stand on your tip toes “If we didn’t kissed” you said before closing the space between you.
And finally you kissed him, like a so long awaited promise you had made yourselves finally coming true, your hands traveled to the back of his neck to deepened the kiss, as if you didn’t wanted him to run away. Your breaths danced with the breeze of the ocean as your hearts felt finally full, flowers bloomed from your head and hands inter-wining Sanji with you. You gasped for air and broke the kiss, your eyes immediately looking for one another, comfortable silence and sweet smiles in front of the sunset was all that could be heard, before Sanji spoke “Could you please break this spell you’ve casted upon me, and please be mine?”
“Yes, yes I can”
And finally you could confidently say that you are not afraid to love, as long as it’s him

cw: alcohol consumption, unwanted advancements, vaguely nsfw topic mentioned, Ace makes it all better
You sat, back against the bar in a shitty pub on some island you couldn’t recall the name of. You were adorned with Ace’s hat, the stark orange an anchor for the man to find you—grounding himself—as he partied away with the Whitebeard pirates.
It was also, though he’d rather throw himself overboard than admit it, a way for others to know you were his.
Not everyone seemed to get the memo.
A rather average looking man took the opportunity to approach you. Your eyes were far too busy admiring your darling boyfriend, so you hadn’t even taken a moment to regard him.
The man cleared his throat, breaking your concentration and gathering your attention for a flickering moment.
“Hey there, pretty little thing.” He opened with.
You scoffed, physically rejecting his advance.
Ace still partied away, swept up in celebration, another victory for the Whitebeard pirates.
The unknown man, unable to take the hint, doubled down on his advance. Swiping Ace’s hat off the top of your head, he plopped it down on top of his own. “How’d you like to ride a cowboy?”
You physically recoiled, throat dry as though you’d puke onto his cheaply furnished boots any moment.
And by now, Ace had taken notice of the scene a few feet away from him. While the Whitebeard pirates danced and drank, yelling profanities into the air, he remained motionless in the midst of it all. Eyes only on you and the man that had stolen his hat off your head. The only other place he’d even consider allowing it to rest.
The embers within him ignited with flame.
“I’m taken.” Was your response.
“So am I.” He said it as though it were something to have in common.
You hummed. “Where’s your partner?”
The man, obviously a bit intoxicated, began to chuckle. “She’s at home. Where’s yours?”
You grabbed a few used paper towels off the bar, pinching them between your fingers and using the cover to guide the man’s eyes towards Ace, your lover’s murderous gaze already piercing into the man. Your boyfriend took a drink of his alcohol, not approaching and not saying a word, simply daring the man to attempt anything.
Ace’s hat still fashioned on the top of his head, the man flashed you a quick wink, one meant to be a gesture of reassurance. “Lemme have a word with him.”
Your lips tightened into a line on your face. “Ohhh, I wouldn’t do that if I was you.” Yet you didn’t dare stop him, didn’t move an inch. You simply took hold of your beverage, watching the scene about to unfold in front of you.
He was already walking away and towards Ace.
Upon his approach, the man whose name was still a mystery clasped an arm around Ace’s shoulders, speaking words you couldn’t hear into your boyfriend’s ear.
Then, before you could even blink, Ace broke his half-empty liquor bottle against the man’s cheek.
An all-out fight ensued.
Well, you wouldn’t call it much of a fight. More like Ace beating on the man until Thatch and Marco took notice and peeled him off.
The man’s face was bruised and bloody, though given what he’d dare whisper in Ace’s ear, it wasn’t nearly enough. Ace swiped his hat off the man he’d knocked flat on his ass, barely conscious.
“And for the record,” Ace grumbled, shoving his own hat back onto the top of his head. “I’m their husband, dipshit.”
Ace turned to you, a cheeky smile upon his untouched features.

Knight Sanji who polishes his armor extra carefully on days he knows he’ll see you, wanting to look worthy of your gaze.
Knight Sanji who gets flustered when you praise his bravery, rubbing the back of his neck and mumbling, “I only fight so I can return to you.”
Knight Sanji who offers you his cloak whenever you’re cold, even if he’s shivering underneath it, insisting, “A knight’s duty is to keep their beloved warm.”
