somehow, i have been allowed to become a legal adult and so iâm being forced to adult. doing taxes or something
(what do you even put in a pinned post iâm just winging this.)
anyway in between adulting i uhhhh. write. sometimes. occasionally. for various fandoms but hsr & genshin are my favorite
these are on tumblr because they arenât long enough (imo) to post anywhere else, but iâm. a little sad if they never get to see the light of day because motivation died and they never end up being long enough
the first few (many) snippets will vary in quality. and consistency. but theyâre all very dear to my heart even if theyâre not perfectly coherent.
eventually maybe if i feel like it iâll make a master list. mostly for me because the amount of snippets i canât remember where i put them but want to continue.
i hope that any one of my silly little stories brings a smile to some of your faces :)
ok iâve been seeing a lot of lohen as a Dad posts and. dksvdidsgdkdhdj omg. but iâm incapable of doing short little only fluff bits i need Plot so uh. idea that i tried making into a one shot rewritten like 3 times âcause i didnt like how i was phrasing things but. plot beats ideas as bullet points i guess!!
desc: Who thought it was a good idea to let Lohen take care of a kid?!
"âand that's why you should always watch your surroundings."
Oh, Varka thought, was Lohen lecturing his subordinates? He was more of a hands-on teacher, but maybe he'd listened to a lecture directed at him for onceâ
Varka stared in disbelief, and slight horror.
Was that a child nodding along???
the doc i have for Fic is just called. âlohen and the child who just showed upâ i couldnt be bothered to think of a more meaningful name
but anyways. when i was playing lohenâs story quest a while ago and the very little elaboration we got about ursa the drake i really wanted to make an oc, or a story with the idea
because dottore is just. Like That, and while. eroch isnât nearly as smart, they were clearly doing a lot of experiments on wildlife and monsters with ursaâs flesh thay lohen & theodore later took advantage of
but. dottore and his research. becoming part of irminsul, defying fate, becoming more than a god, power and knowledge, hand in hand. i hate him out of principle but he IS an interesting character to think about
anyway
what if, dottore tried just. using ursaâs flesh? no outside input, just reverse engineering it to try and recreate the angel that once existed? in that balance during when they probably made their âchoiceâ to keep their power instead of their form/mind, what if he could rewrite that fate, wouldnât that be interesting?
he has the segments. and there is precedence in the game for rewriting fates (both durin and anya), but dottore is not for wasting his life. he isnât for kindness and soft approaches, on results, failures or otherwise.
and obviously he succeeds, to some extent, since there would be no altered story otherwise, but once he does, he does. nothing.
something something a childâs form/existence is more malleable to hold all of the Bad and Memories and Power and thatâs why theyâre a child
because he doesnât want the angels knowledgeâ he doesnât need their power, this is all a stepping stone for his final experiment for himself.
but eroch is prideful, jealous, and infinitely stupider. he probably wasnât even told a lot about why dottore was doing extra experiments (which failed and failed countless times until one finally succeeded)
probably doesnt even know what an angel is, and the way my timeline was (kind of wonky.) it was like. dottore finishes, gets bored of the whole thing, eroch is getting sloppier (kidnapping more kids), varka comes back, eroch is captured, and not!ursa is left there, in a hidden, abandoned, forgotten lab. (the one that theodore later finds and uses, but not!ursa is tucked away in some corner that varka & co, and lohen, donât venture down because there is the more pressing issue of Actual!ursa waking and ursaâs flesh/blood in lohenâs veins.
i should probably probably name not!ursa for convenienceâs sake but. ugh. in the doc it was just in second person so i wouldnt have to type out [name] or find one. uh. well. color differences will have to do.
anyway not!ursa! the idea was like. they have all the memories of ursa. as a dragon, as an angel. but they were made. purposefully contained? the potential is there, but dottore didnt bother bringing it out and enoch was caught soonish after so
ursaâs flesh is corrosive(?) and corruptive, but not!ursa was directly made from it. itâs a sort of immunity. which is good because you know, still locked in a cage rhey canât escape with only ursaâs body for food.
i donât know if they would be physically capable of escaping? it would be a noce parallel to lohen, anyway, if they COULD but never even thought about it. yâknow like jumping flies and the cap and they donât jump higher than the cap even when itâs gone.
sure the guards are gone, but what does that matter?
the difference between knowledge and wisdom and knowing how to use any of it. kinda like how a computer (not!ursa) and the internet (memories) but needs a user (someone else) to search things up and use the knowledge it has.
idk whose pov it would be in. lohenâs wojld be funny and more of an emotional arc journey of. this child canât be just tossed to some random knight or civilian. their entire existence is classified because of the enoch and ursa situation. it has to be someone In The Know and like. he found this child after stumbling across them when wandering back in the lab to take out some more monsters idk
who else could take in the child. diluc is uh. i think canonically Not good with children (or at least klee.) traveler is. traveling all the time. varka. could? but is also busy avoiding paperwork and iâm sure hed step up but this was about dad/caretaker!lohen so uhhhh. some mental gymnastics and lohen decides heâs the only option (theodore is still on probation or something.)
and i think everyone can agree lohen would not be a Normal Parent in any sense. itâs only fitting he gets a kid who also doesnât know what is normal for raising a child and their age is questionable (do memories count. i donât count them but ehhh. conflict.)
itâs wrangling a small life that is strong and weak and almost definitely wonât die before you or get old and die and grudgingly growing to actually care in his own way and teaching them how to live and not care about what other people think. they donât have to enjoy fighting like him, but this is the land of freedom. do what they want, not what they remember ursa doing once upon a time.
and then if it was from not!ursaâs pov. a lot of introspection? but also a curiosity. identity (are they just ursa? are they going to be a repeat?) and being really confused about lohen
parallelâs to durinâs journey/life, and how both have fates tied to âevil dragonsâ, but durin had a loving mother and the hexenzirkelâs support/blessings. had albedo who kind of figured it out, vaguely. not!ursa had. dottore. eroch. random scientists and abandonment. and then lohen.
familial love, and also panic about it because angels and seelies and curses and made up lore about what kind of love doomed ursa enough to want the power instead. because not!ursa does prefer lohenâs company and presence above literally everyone elseâs. if thatâs not favoritism/a kind of love
and. this is turning back into my obsession with seelies and lore. eeeee.
if i wrote it i would 100% cave and write both, and maybe an outsiderâs pov.
somehow i got terribly distracted from finishing this (started july third, the original word Doc from. 2 months ago. so iâm just gonna release it so it doesnât haunt me in my drafts anymore)
maybe the muse will hit me with a feverdream in a year. and i will come back to this.
fairy tail but itâs celestial spirit oc centered
listen they didnât really do much. lore wise? or maybe they did and i missed it but we didnât get a lot of detail cause i checked the wikiâs and uh. other than the main twelve there arenât a lot of others named. so.
ok fair warning i donât even remember when i stopped watching fairy tail. like i know OF tartarus arc and star dresses and other aspects but timeline is a :/ so.
i kind of want to make a fairy tail oc but theyâre a celestial spirit born centuries before the main timeline and they just kind of. exist. different summoners, different kinds of people, not the strongest but pretty good at using what magic they can.
somethingâŚ. prophecy related items.
iâm gonna be so fr i thought there were more distinct keys than gold and silver and (black)
but uh. yeah. silver key, technically multiple of âthemâ but oc is the only one with visions of the Specific Future so far away, with accounting for time travel and broken future
hhhhh i have to pick a constellation for them. him, iâve decided, because i have like 2 male ocs
(responding to a friend) FOR A POWER / WORLD ONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS USES
ITS REALLY NOT. DEVELOPED
i also want to develop spirit - spirit relationships in a platonic sense.
LIKE YOU SEE HOW LOKI CARES FOR ARIES AS A DEAR FRIEND but only in that one scene
BoĂśtes, the Herdsman (of ox/cows, which in japanese myths, there is a kudan (human head cow species body) who tells the future)
ok hc humans just call them by their constellation name but if thereâs multiple (ie, plue) they call them by the names of the stars in the constellation. maybe.
oh. a lot of them are just boo- with a number. not fun. uhhh.
THE ONLY ACTUALLY NAMED STAR IS ARCTURUS. which. i guess is his name now?? arc for short
(some names for other boĂśtes spirits) Izar (Pulcherrima), Nekkar, and Muphrid, Seginus, Alkalurops, Rho, Alazal, caldwell (a galaxy in boĂśtes),
iâm going to study what selectively mute people do because arc is that. mainly because technically he Knows every language and that or will be and he mixes them up a lot.
itâs languages snd slang and translations of phrases that donât quite work in the language heâs using
empath, kind of?
ok iâm making more things up: all the constellations that do or will exist already do in fioreâs sky
but itâs the act of humans giving them a name, or some discovery, that gives the spark of a spirit to more. uh. sentient? consciousness that then gives birth to a key that can be used to summon them
and as it goes on âspiritsâ are born under that constellation for the stars (unless theyâre uhhhh the golden ones who iâm like half bs-ing merged together to some point so there is only One Of Themâ
they donât spawn as babies they spawn in the form that they will be most comfortable in (bc what is time and space?)
the spirit king. hm. i think there probably was a time before him, but it was chaos [i said, and then never elaborated. i donât even know what i meant]
i want to give arc cool hair. curly hair. and short because i. know i have a preference for long hair LMFAO but i thjnk short curly hair can be cute
âSpirits must also abide by certain rules enforced by the Celestial Spirit Kingâ oh neat i get to come up with laws (because fairy tail only ever introduced the one)
hm. the question is how furry do i want to make him. because loki has ears. aquarius is a mermaid. pisces is literally fish. cancer has crab legs. but loki doesnât have a tail i donât think. heâs gonna have cow horns totally at minimum but the kind is hmmm.
âThe BoĂśtes Void (or "Great Nothing") is a massive, roughly spherical region of space in the BoĂśtes constellation, spanning nearly 330 million light-years in diameter. Located 700 million light-years from Earth, it is one of the largest known "supervoids" in the universeâ omg thatâs so NEAT
how do i make this his magic ability.
[referring to the names] i donât want to steal fae rules but thatâs the closest vibe iâve got.
i mean celestial spirits have contracts. magically changing contracts that take into consideration the direness of the situation. like. prison.
something to play with is the time differences between the spirit world and fiore. 1 day in the spirit world is a month in fiore
arc wasnât the first spirit âbornâ under the boĂśtes constellation, and he wasnât the last, and heâs not the one with the most magic, but he is the one closest to the Void, and thus doesnât really Fight.
because itâs not really fighting if your entire power is making âsomethingâ into âabsolute nothingâ. no air or anything
the other boĂśtes constellations have a weaker variation. itâs more. decay and black hole-y, with varying degrees of control over it but arc cant change the intensity of his at all
arc was born, and was immediately hit with the images of past/present/future can be will be might be
in spirit time, it took decades, which uh. in human years means that Quite A Lot of time passed
and because arc wasnât âwell enoughâ to be summoned, his specific key wasnât out for rotation. or at least the shared boĂśtes keys werenât trying to call upon him
and thus the silver key of the herdsman, boĂśtes, became known as a . 70% combat key higher mid, 20% vague warnings about upcoming events, and 10% idk actually herding cows
by the time arc was awake fully, his first act was to greet the spirit king, but uh. jumbled up languages and words and phrases and he had a dry throat
which is like. ???? spirits are born with knowledge already, they can and do learn, but they have the basics down
heâs basically nonverbal other than gestures (which i think do also change over time but. less so??? so he used those mostly) until someone taught arc some Nifty Magic humans had created to project emotions
(note: just bc arc sees events happening doesnât mean he learns it all. bc itâs like watching tv and he doesnât get specific guidance, just how Those people learned, and thereâs always that sense of film bc itâs Not Here and Now)
(language is different because the shifts were gradual and imprinted into his head and sticking to one when yiu Know another language has a better more specific word is :(. also itâs not like every person went âah yes i am speaking japaneseâ âand now i am speaking messianic greekâ âand also this specific dialect of frenchâ)
it just happened and he learned from context the Specfic thing sounds meant and that means he has 363847378383 variations of âovenâ depending on the range of temperature and the look and what day it was made
consequently he probably likes instrumental / no lyric music. just because he can vibe without thinking about the meanings
omg if i ever write this fic itll be outsider pov all the time
or iâll pull a seventh time loop: write the events in his POV for me and then rewrite it in someone elseâs bc itâs fun. and then maybe. MAYBE. i can post the og
i would absolutely need to plan out which Major Events arc would be there for, or only see through visions, or even that he just doesnât remember before theyve already happened
bc i donât want to get into the (bad) habit of OC IS THERE FOR LITERALLY EVERY MAJOR PLOT EVENT, EVER.
fairy tail also just has inconsistent characterization and WAY TOO MANY time travel plotlines. the dragon slayers, the future!lucy(?), the s rank mage trial where they get frozen in time for 10 years, natsu leaves on a journey and fairy tail like. disbands or something
oh ultearâs daughter and her sacrificing most of her life and youth to give everyone a minute of time thay the enemies donât remember but allies all do
like what is up with lucyâs dad. his wife dies he neglects his daughter and then hires a black mage guild (who may or may not kill her) to kidnap her back even though sheâs been gone for like months or more atp. and then his daughter goes missing for 10 years and he goes bankrupt and he hires this lady that used to be lucyâs doll and actually he cared all along
fic snippet! (randomly spaced between ideas)
It isnât exactly rare for new spirits to be created in the spirit world.
Granted, part of that is because of the time dilation between Fiore and the Spirit Realmâ what is thirty thousand years in the mortal plane when itâs just a thousand years to them, and they will live for trillions more?
Humans may have linked the material of a key to the strength of a spirit, but spirits are their constellations given consciousness. Itâs not something that mages have discovered. The probably wonât ever, because thereâs no reason for spirits to explain it to them.
The material a key is made of simply defines how many spirits are connected to a constellation. Humans call them silver and gold, but there are so, so many more, with slight metal variations that they just havenât discovered yet.
prologue: history of spirits (vague)
⢠itâs because itâs a a chapter from a book written by humans.
chapter 1: iâm biased for loke so itll probably be his pov, but.
⢠i donât want to get trapped in a cycle of âugh this isnât in chronological orderâ so iâm ACTUALLY going to start at whatever point i want
⢠i think this will be after theyve become friends so arc emotes at loke and he does it. does what? i havent decided yet.
chapter 2:
⢠hmmmmmm some humans down the line, one summons arc and makes a contract with him. thereâs rumors about one of the silver keys being Different, less combat oriented but so much more prophetic
chp3:
⢠plue & arc, maybe.
c4:
⢠aquarius first meeting? arc is Weird, admittedly.
5:
⢠an actual canon event but arc is there. maybe on his own and Gang is confused as to why or how but he helps out non verbally but like. very emotive and expressive. set up for butterfly effect?
six:
⢠arc isnât actually present but itâs the spirits talking about his Introduction To The King (something mandatory when theyâre able, on how he wasnât the first or last BoĂśtes spirit born, but that he was. Different, not like the zodiacs but. not like the rest of his. brothers? kind??? idk.)
I WISH THEY DID MORE WITH THE THREE GREAT FAIRY MAGICS. or or or how belief shapes it and and how to create spells
anyway iâm giving arc cow legs. maybe. if i can figure out how to make them look cool. but how legs are short and not articulated the same as âcoolerâ horse? legs? so idk. weâll see.
(snippet)
There are cries and laughter and vitriol and kindness and the business of life and the silence of death ringing in his ears, an instant that never began so much as always was, and he doesnât think itâs ever ended, more than repeating long enough to become only slightly distracting background noise. He feels as though he knows too much. He feels as though he knows too little.
He was-is-will be lying in a bed of soft, shimmering, flower-like crystals. The magic ebbs and flows, wrapped-wraps him in a warmth that threatened-s to drag him under. âNo,â he thought-thinks, more of a concept than any of the words he had heard and learned and adopted. The turning of a head, a fork in the road, a calm, but firm-no-going-back sort of decision.
The feeling eases, and he thinks he can feel fingers-hand-arms-legs-body. Petals made of ore, hard and soft and shining, and he pushes himself up, the agony-ache-sore jolting his senses, a whine-howl-sob escaping his lips.
He was-is there, for a moment and an eternity, or something in between, a simple existence where he only must keep choosing life to continue living. There is a choice, he understands, that he can never take back.
And so he opens his eyes.
BoĂśtes is an old constellation.
They arenât anywhere as ancient as the Spirit King, only slightly closer the length of the Zodiacâs existences, and even a few thousand other constellations are older than them. But those numbers mean little when there are trillions of trillions of them, blinking into existence with a shared name.
So, BoĂśtes is an old constellation.
Spirits are never children, but they can be young. Arc is one of the older BoĂśtes and simultaneously the youngest. And Arc was young for a very, very long time.
Celestial Spirits cannot hate humans.
Itâs why, when theyâre treated terribly by some humans, they donât simply attack and leave. Even the weakest spirit has the ability to, at the very least, cancel their own contracts. Humans are borrowing *their* power, not the other way around.
Celestial Spirits are so much more *studier* than humans are. Even when enhanced with magic, humans can be killed with magic. Celestial Spirits only die when their constellations fade, or they run out of the mana that makes them. And it is instinct to return to the Celestial Spirit Realm, made up entirely of magic that flows back into them, sustaining them.
Itâs why Celestial Spirits are not allowed by their King to kill humans. When something is so very easy, it becomes easy to disregard, and, at their core, Celestial Spirits love humans. For all their flaws, and violence, humanity is the ones who gave them their names and identity. Not individually, but collectively, and how could they hate them? They have so much time, and humans so little, and all bad encounters will be drowned out by memories of a kind contractor.
i need more Celestial Spirit Laws and why they came into being.
uh. ok. so there might be an abel and cain situation but spirit and summoner and Thatâs when King made the first Law
or maybe it wonât be first hmm
note: karen used aries as a shield. for magic attacks. and all damages basically heal she just unsummoned herself
LIKE THEY JUST SAID âweâre not allowed to kill our summonersâ o. ok. but. how did that come to be
spirits have been around for a LONGGGG time (since anna heartfilliaâs time and probably earlier)
loke didnt even directly kill karen. so like. idk it must be a very specific law because itâs easy to go on a downwards slope
oooooh wait adding more lore on people trying to manufacture celestial spirits. something something how the keys all warped and cracked within a year at max except for oroboros who was unwieldy and wrong but *just* balanced enough to be accepted int the Spirit Realm
headcanon: spirits are made of VERY SPECIFIC compliments of magic and mana and whatever that let them have a ego and do things and exist in the spirit realm and absorb its magic to recover, and the manufactured spirits, while sent to the spirit realm, Didnt meet those qualifications and so just. ran out and died or it tried but failed to process and died and. well. just a lot of dying </3
Humans in general are so fun bc we have morals. bjt. we made morals tf up. we have empathy and sympathy and crave social interactions. but we also do TERRIBLE things to each other. for power (a thing we made up) and money (a thing we ALSO made up)
so itâs just. spirits who live so long *cannot* start to hate humans as a race because they have survived so long and will continue to survive, and spirits and humans have a kind of. balance relationship (memories and growth and companions and power and protection) in my version of fairy tail
because if it becomes wide spread enough, you hold grudges for hundreds of thousands of years and for. what?
the human that hurt you or made you mad is long long dead. thereâs always the flip side of course of gettinf taken advantage of, but thatâs what contracts are for. and even then. hm
i donât want to make loke the first one to stand up for his friend whos being mistreated by their shared contractor
so. there is a precedent of it working. and karen was just. stubborn and desperate and (would she really choose money over caring for aries more humanely?)
like i thjnk there has to be a reason loke didnt fight the decision more than just âHeâs king his word is lawâ
bc he CAN be reasoned with. Lucy did it.
there is nuance kt just has to be argued for
but. there were probably cases where spirits got frustrated and killed their contractors (never for themselves, always for their friends, and dying slowly and willingly for it.)
but also cases where they got cocky and tried ordering the spirit (summoned themself) but they sat there and watched as they died, and
karen, to loke, probably seemed like she had more self preservation than that. i mean. she used a ZODIAC CELESTIAL SPIRIT as a SHIELD.
he wasnât asking for much. just. compassion. maybe try and learn a shield spell instead of using spirits as shields.
itâs not like celestial spirit mages canât learn other magics, so why would sheâŚ
the human experience and nuance â¤ď¸
oooooooh i want petty rivalries
something something Human Made Things canr survive under the mass amounts of magic in the spirit realm but at some point (LONG before canon but quite a bit after tspirits first popped up and also a while after arcturus was âbornâ) they learned how to. mix their magic in human made things JUST enough for kt to be able to sustain its form. so like. collection things
âMY summoner gave me this shiny rockâ âwell MINE gave me this BIGGER shiny rockâ âhmphâ
ariel type vibes (i never watched the movies)
i know i want arcâs (and boĂśtes in general, but varying strengths) Big Final Move to be black hole. emptiness. nothingness
but thatâs not anFighting move, and iâd like for him to be able to defend himself at the very least
hes still gonna be the definition that âhe doesnât start fights. he Ends themâ because with a move that strong there is not dialing it back
ok this is self indulgent but maybe arc is a reader. a reader who speaks in book wuotes because That Is How He Read It
and at the very least, itâs all in one language instead of him picking and choosing the EXACT connotation and meaning he wants from 363 diff languages (some that donât exist yet and some that have died out)
i also donât like how reincarnation or future sifhs protags go âokg this One Group/Person is the Key to saving the worldâ
i donât want that for boĂśtes
i wnat him to treat every life that heâs involved either the same, valuing it and trying his best to make it better
OH before i forget: after a long long LONG time, arc is given perms to wear and own his own key
bc itâs just. kind of very dangerous for some Random Person to pick up his key specifically, and yes technically he can unsummoned himself and not accept a contract but thereâs like. (again trying to balance it all out to not be SO one sided) a magical consequence and canr do it too many times in quick succession
in solidarity the other boĂśtes constellations add key designs and random keys to their outfits, to make sure he doesnât stand out as Special One of a King )becuase he is and isnât. boĂśtes all see the future, heâs just. a lot and itâs both helpful and unhelpful because it saw it all when he was born for years and years, each scene feeling like a second and forever, and he needs to reinact his birth to try and. search out a specific future)
note: distinction between future sight vs all-knowing vs knowing what to do with the information given to you
arc can give you example after example of similar situations and their solutions, but his perspective is a little warped bc of How Many examples he has
but he very often doesnât know what to do. because morals have changed. standards have changed
oh angst: not all people/his summoners that arc helps become famous, though he will admit that a fair bit of them do. and its. painful to know that hes the only one that remembers the kindest but meekest ones, who were just so thankful to be alive
(spirits donât die, right? asks my friend) like. the only thing they do is fade if they stay in human realm for too long iirc
which. im like half asusming since their constellation is still there (maybe?) they either get reincarnated or they die for real
again they didnât really. do much with celestial spirits in the anime :(
theyâre SO COOL but noooo. dragon slaying magic
itâs not like arc or the celestial spirits are blind to humansâ faults. they all have their own horror stories.
but arc and his fellow boĂśtes spirits have scenes of the past/present/future hit them at random, and humans do have such a large population that the chances of getting a scene of them, doing something terrible, is not all that low.
âContracts can be broken if the Mage is arrested, releases the Spirit by him/herself, or diesâ WHICH SUMMONER GOR ARRESTED AND HAD FHAT RULE MADE FOR THEM
idk if i want it to be a Terrible Crime or just. stupid petty shit
ARC DESIGN? Subject to 36384738 redos
he has âpeekabooâ hair. amber-brown on top, beige/off white underneath âŚâŚkinda want him to have vitiligo but feels kinda eh just to do it for spots
i want to make it kind of clear that spirits arent human and their definitions of beauty vary accordingly
the first thing i have to say is: timeline what timeline. all i know is kdh movie has played out and pjo is somewhere within the first 5 books. it depends on what i think is funniest. i have thoughts on this au, moght elaborate later, this might be all i ever do.

(description of fic)
âââââ
After the demon boy-bandâs last performance (there's sort of a, bittersweet edge to the thought), things donât go back to the normal they had before, if only because that normal was highly overrated and consisted of not only hiding all of their weakness from their fans (fair), but also each other (not fair). So. Yeah. No more of that, thank god.
Rumi doesnât know if she could call everything fixed (thatâs the word Celine would absolutely not use in this scenario, and she canâtâ), but theyâve settled, definitely. She sometimes forgets that she doesnât have to cover up all the time, or that her markings crawl all over her body now so that itâs physically impossible to hide all of them. (Well. Unless Rumi decides to lather herself in foundation, but even then, they kind of glow.) She does her best, but itâs hard when sheâs spent all 24 years of her life trying to pretend they didnât exist.
It helps that her friends reassured tha they understood why and how Rumi had marks and that her they didnât define her as an emotionless, cruel demon, though. (It wasnât really the marks that made them hold up weapons against Rumi, they had explained later. It was stress and betrayal and the secrets, and what if she was a trick, tooâ?)
But that had been Rumi's main secret, the one she kept close to her chest. There was really nothing else she was as anxious about than the lines that outed her as not quite human, but nowâŚ
Zoey, sweet, passionate Zoey, calls them pretty, and absentmindedly traces the ones on her arms when they finally do get couch time, sitting side by side. Mira, hesitant but steady and there, just asks her if she wants to take off her jacket if itâs a little hot out and she hasnât already. Rumi is has learned to not hate them the way she used to (from Jinu, from her friends, from their fans painting their own colorful marks to match her), and is just working having less days where she forgets itâs okay and that all consuming dread and fear come back.
So, anyway, itâs been a few months since Huntrix created a new (more beautiful, in Rumiâs personal, very valid opinion) Honmoon and banished Gwi-Ma back to his demon realm for at least a good while.
For the time being, because as strong as their new protection is, it isnât Golden. It isnât eternal and unbreaking, and, politely, none of them want to ask about successors. First, because they've just had a comeback, and secondly, talking to Celine is still a little⌠Awkward. Besides, they have plenty of time until they really have to start considering it (Celine hadnât retired until her late thirties), so thatâs still a goal of theirs.
Thatâs thoughts for the future, though. Right now, Rumi needs toâ
âRumi!â She scrambles to balance herself, twisting her head around to face and catch Zoey, who has launched herself forwards.
[scene where mira hesitates, and they hang, and then she finally spills about the monsters she sees that arent demons, but still killed by her honmoon blade, that theyâve never seen and also a reason why her family called her a problem child, support and love]
âGuys, IâŚâ Miraâs voice trailed off, evidently uncomfortable. Immediately, Rumi glanced over at Zoey, who nodded, and they both took their seats next to Mira. Weâre here, they were saying, take your time. No matter what she had to say, they would tackle it with her, together. There were no debts between them, not really, but listening to their worries was the least of what Rumi would do for her friends.
"âŚI see things, sometimes. More than just Gwi-ma's demons, I mean. They're more like, Derpy and Sussie. Notâ human, but also more malicious? But, ugh, I don't know. It depends."
tour announcement!! (them writing it )their excitement, brushing up on english, etc, thinking of new songs (about love and support and)
âYou know what time it is?â Rumi grinned, excitement bubbling under her skin. Zoey paused, eyes widening and vibrating with excitement. Mira rolled her eyes, but smirked. âDo you meanâ!!â
âItâs tour time!â
Zoey squealed, squeaked, almost tripping over nothing, throwing her hands up to balance herself. âOh, oh!! Does this mean weâre releasing new songs? How about,â she flipped somewhere in her notebook, â(lyrics)? Or, orââ
Rumi laughed, because this was what she loved about being an idol. She was so very glad these two had found their way here, to want to protect the Honmoon, so that she didnât have to do it alone the way Celine had initially planned. If she had been alone, Rumi thinks that she would have broken down just that much faster without their support.
switch to percy pov. the titanâs curse maybe? maybe battle of the labyrinth? at some point? coming across their concert, tons of monsters, and demons, thag scene, him blurting out if theyâre demigods and they say no
(his pov, a scrapped description)
Percy stared.
Okay, they had to be halfbloods, right? No mortal could justâ stab monsters into dust, (what kind of monsters were they, anyway?) in broad daylight, and have no one else bat an eye. That had to be the Mist working, except Percy might not be the best at sensing when his senses were being manipulated (with magic or the mist), but there wasnât any Mist being used actively or inactively. And the mortals seemed to see
So, like. What.
mira canât go through the labyrinth bc she. has a job, so rachel is still the best choice
âdonât let your parents dictate every decision you make. even if theyâre gods.â says rumi and mira. âeven if they. love you,â rumi says, âitâs probably never going to be the kind of love a mortal child needs, unless you twist yourself to be okay with that.
time skip, them at outskirts of camp, the barrier thing (they can faintly see) get permission somehow? sing.
a flash of iridescent (heâs the only one that sees, all people at camp see)
af some point bantering about like. âhey, rumi, you fit right in. youâve been training since you were like, what, five?â and that opens that can of worms âbut shes myâ shes. celine is the closest thing i have to a parent.â (a mother, she doesnât say.) âi didnt get to meet her.â
percy, probably in an effort to comfort this 24 year old woman, chimes in âwell, hey, my dad told me i was a mistake and he was sorry i was bornâ
ââŚ.i should not be trauma dumping on children, but, you know, i asked celine to kill me and she didnât.â <â huntrix did NOT KNOW THIS. (is this.,âŚ. actual communication from adults???) bobby calls. itâs time for another concert! whoops.
i really really want a convo with apollo in there. about how his music is amazing, great, but just like their tour name, the honmoon is a gateway between mortal, for mortals.
Derpy and Sussie are around. kind of vaguely like mrs. oâleary
And his breath hitches. Because, listen, Percy has been in fair share of fights, mortal and monsters alike, but this? What Rumi, Mira, and Zoeyâwhat Huntrixâis doing something different than that. Itâs more than a bid for survival, for senseless war because the gods always demand it.
What they do, is make it a conversation. An art, in more than just the violent art of war that Ares preaches about. Itâs more than rage. Itâs meant to soothe, to connect, to grant peace. A dance that speaks of their love of the world, for humanity, despite and because of their flaws.
are huntrix a part of a poly romantic relationship? is it just really really close queerplatonic friendship? idk.
ohhhh now i want a scene w/ nico but if itâs after titans curse before end of the labyrinth, then itâs not likely for him to comment on Maybe Jinuâs Soul in rumiâs sword
i watched the movie a while back and i just really wanted to combine some cool media. crossovers are SO fun tbh
i wanna make it clear that none of huntrix was ever planned to be Half Blood. they're just Like that + korean mythology
lohen & furina friendship? (theyâre my FAVS at the moment) hear me out. this is gonna be really really unrefined bc i just want to put it out there. maybe iâll write it one dayâŚ.. (i say as i edit this multiple times and add more to it)
lohen and death have a complicated sort of relationship. i think.
in some way. receiving pain is proof heâs alive, and giving it out to others is control. control that he didnât have as a child because he was expected to follow in his parents footsteps to become a bowmaker, and was then further taken from him by dottore.
(like. he was always vaguely feral. in his story quest [mild spoilers for that!] when you go into theodoreâs memory of being brought to eroch's lab, thereâs a thing he sees. or rather, that he hears.
Respectful Voice: Sir, the new subjects are here.
Complaining Voice: This brat's real vicious. Took a lot of work to quiet him down.
and this could be a throwaway line. but this was a kid that wanted to be taught how to use the bow. his character story calls him untamed even at like. 10 years old. he's just Like That. it's definitely him being described. also it's his story quest, so even if it's theodore's memory he's in there somewhere.
becoming an adventurer was control. becoming a knight was control. poisoning other knights (not lethally) is a way of him making sure they can be more interesting. less likely to die to poison, a calm, quiet, death. itâs care, in a way (but he DEFINITELY enjoys seeing the knights be afraid and squirm LOL)
i think, personally, lohen is a very heavy advocator for being interesting, over being the strongest fighter in the world he can test himself against. being strong =/= being someone heâd hang around for more than just sparring.
i think if dementia is a thing in teyvat, thatâs his greatest most terrible fear for both himself and people he cares about. losing memories, losing strength. âdonât get old on meâ (stay with him. no matter how sadistic or unconventional he is, stay with him.)
and yâknow what? because of this i think if lohen knew about Furinaâs gambit, her act that fooled the heavens, i think heâd like to have her as a friend, and i think theyâd actually be good for each other.
but even if he didnât, i think furina would fit that definition of âinterestingâ for lohen. not in a romantic way (though that would be a fun dynamic to explore lmfao), but i think they genuinely would be good friends and. bring out the best in each other is Not the phrase iâm looking for but close enough i guess.
âcause even though furina spent almost all of her time acting as focalors, she was a star. she acted in other things throughout those 500 years. furina actually probably has some weird misc knowledge if shes ever acted in a murder mystery play before, which. considering fontaineâs whole justice & court & entertainment entanglements, seems pretty likely.
sure, most of it is heavily unrealistic, but. lohen is the type of Guy to actually find a way to pull them off. bother and get albedoâs perspective and create some wild poison that would be used in a locked-room mystery.
(the fifth company knights shiver in fear. oh god their vice captain has gotten even MORE terrifying)
anyway. how they would meet is very very self indulgent and a lot of background i use to justify it. uhhhh.
so with furina's whole gambit, it was a lot. it was such a demanding role, with no breaks (eyes on her, always.) furina just wouldn't know who she is. and sure, i have Things to say about her story quest and how we make her act even though she didn't really want to, and she still does love acting in the end, the way they went about getting her to that point was :/
anyway that's all to say furina had a lot of control over herself, but not her situation. not the people around her. she's been stuck in fontaine for 500 years, worrying and trying her best to avert the prophecy in her own way, considering im 80% sure focalors did Not tell her any of the details except for that she had to pretend to be the goddess and the trials had something to do with it all.
something something (neuvillette and furina talk. itâs a lot of awkward silences, all the things they never said and all the things furina desperately hid and omitted or outright lied to him about, but they donât leave in the middle. they sit and talk the way they never really did in the past 500 years- one because he didnt understand humanity, and the other because what could she say? and neuvillette insists on funding her a trip through the nations. he might not like the archons, but their nations are made up of humans, whom he is fond of. so. she should visit. travel. see more of the world that she never could when doing what focalors asked of her.)
and maybe neuvillette also wants furina to get away from fontaine for a bit. because. shes no longer cursed with immortality. the goddess who cursed her so is gone, and so she will finally get to live (and die) as a human being should, doesnât have to act and pretend and hide the sound of her sobs in the fountain late at night
but neuvillette is a dragon, and furina is not an immortal, and may the archons be damned if she, a constant in his life for 500 years dies even a year too soon from some zealot, someone ignorant in her role and efforts or someone obsessed with her returning to the limelight (if i canât have her no one can)
because because neuvillette has judged a Lot of cases. a LOT of them. and though he spared fontaine, he WAS witness to a lot of the strange and terrible and violent crimes they could commit
iâm sure some were committed against idols, and actors, and furina was spared those [her reaction to arlecchino's attack] because she was beloved Archon, how could they dare to do that against their Archon? also probably serious bodyguards but reverence definitely played a part. so when she's freed of that role, it's a bit of a gray area.
she has her vision, but she just eats mac n cheese. shes free and doesnât know what to do with her freedom and she deserves to try thing. be her own person. learn how to do thing with her own hands because she can now. she doesnât have to be regal.
and i'm saying she starts in mondstadt. maybe furina asks traveler, maybe it's just because mondstadt is the nation of freedom.
and lohen is in no way the first friend she makes in mondstadt (maybe barbara, similar yet different struggles with idol-hood). it's the nation of freedom, furina's learning how to be free, meeting and getting to know a bard that knows WAY TOO MUCH, learning how to glide, being welcomed for no other reason than she came to visit. not because shes Furina de Fontaine.
and i could go on and on but uh. this is probably a good place to stop myself djfhdsjfhkadfhsk
Howell is absolutely fascinated by magic. Itâs everything his sister tried to keep him away from, it makes something in his head perk up like nothing in school had, not even rugby. Itâs rare and special and everything he just wouldn't get from a normal college education. If he could have written a thesis on magic, he would've.
brain is not braining but just know howl went on multiple paragraphs long rant about how cool magic is
i think. itll be fun to play with and also howl is still the one that makes the deal with calcifer in this specific snipper
ââŚa few moments before they wither and die.â <- on stars/fire demons. so iâm headcannon-ing that fallen stars / demons donât have names. they have no need for them in the sky and they die far too soon to think of one themselves
basically iâm saying, in the canon!movie/books, calcifer names himself some unknown time before the story, probably with some input from howl, but more like âoh this name means thisâ and only after a few months to years
in swapped!au, even if howl still is the one with calcifer, sophie is the one who names him.
He doesnât voice it, but Sophie is an older sister. She is well aware when her younger siblings want something, and while Howlâs Fire Demon isnât Martha or Lettie, he is exceedingly young. Powerful, she wonât denyâ with practice and time, Howl and him would almost certainly become more powerful than her, speaking nonsense into life.
Words are important in magic, and what are names but unique words associated with nothing but another person? Their soul and identity? Itâs why Sophie refuses to give up her name, and why the Witch of the Waste is both powerful and weak for her title and her hidden-lost birth name. Sophie is very well aware that the Fire Demon wants a name of his own, and is even more certain that Howl, amazed with magic and everything one could do with it, if they had a bit of creativity, would not think to name the star he had followed and caught, for years.
ack words are hard i hope i conveyed that right.
and i tried writing more for this but. calcifer is a Made Up Name from what i could research and base words have to do with like. calcifing. so finding a way for sophie to come up with calcifer that makes sense is :/
The Witch of the Waste isâŚâŚ.. jealous, for lack of a better word. She's been a witch for longer, arguably is the stronger one in comparison to Sophie Hatter, girl-who-hadn't-wanted-to-be-magic, and yet she's the one that the townsfolk and people travel far and wide to see. (It doesn't matter that The Witch of the Waste doesn't even take requests, most of the time. They should still go to her.)
And then that boy scorned her, pretty as he was, he had no right to do that to her, and then Sophie Hatter dared to cross her by taking him in.
i think it'll be fun to have similar yet different reasonings for the witch of the waste disliking/hating sophie.
in the movie, i think the witch was bitter and jealous of sophie, young and definitely pretty. i donât know if howl actually had any relationship with her, but being not chosen/staying with her, being spoken of in fear, has got to take its toll.
and any kindness that sophie might offer her is seen as pity and unwanted
Sophie Hatter was the eldest daughter of three, and everyone knows that the firstborn daughter is guaranteed to fail in the endeavors she sets out to do.
To her family and the town she grew up inâs great shock, she became a renowned good witchâ giving protection trinkets to those who needed them most, cursing bad luck onto those who hurt others. They praised her for breaking the curse of being the first to set out and the first to fall, but if anyone had asked Sophie, she did fail, because she never tried to become a witch at allâ being a craftswoman and hat maker was just so very difficult, and, well, spells were easier. But donât get it twistedâ Sophie is still going to do it!
(Howell Jenkins is 18 years old, and has no plans on going to college. His sister has a perfectly normal, regular life, and is stern that Howell should follow it, too, and it grates. Wasted talent, wasted physique, heâs wasting his life away.
But Howell follows a star, in the process crossing fields of flowers, climbing a mountain, even, and finds himself in the company of a woman who is utterly convinced she is as normal as his sister, when she is magical and has everything Howl (itâs a much cooler name, isnât it?) has wanted.)
hi if some of this below doesn't make sense i'm doing minimal editing of things i've sent my friends.
also inspired by this art ages ago (its so pretty.)
by role swap, i don't mean that sophie is now personality-wise, like howl. or that howl in any way has the sense of responsibility sophie has. i think that would be an interesting idea to explore what action in their pasts could make them turn out that way, but i mean mostly in that sophie is a witch first, found out she was a witch first, and is older than howl.
canonically (in both i think) also their age gap is weird but i'm. mildly uncomfortable but also okay with electing to ignore it because uhhh sophie WAS an Old Lady even if she was young mentally but sheâs more mature and howlâs heart is young and. it just wasn't a plot point in either about age power dynamics and imbalances. it was for a nice number for a curse so it could be mystical and be in days and it wouldn't be as interesting if sophie was a 25 year old woman who felt old and was turned into an old lady and also having two (reasonably) younger siblings who want things for their lives that their mom is planning out for them.
but in swapped!au. um. a 27 year old sophie would NOT fall in love with an 18 year old howell. no way. so ages will have to be closer. in a sophie is younger way (not 18 but. 21 max)
howlâs still this heart stealing, heart throb, smooth mother fucker of a guy, and he dyes his hair, but itâs not through magic (initially). and sophieâs this âterribleâ witch who actually fussed over her younger sisters and still values manual work even when she uses magic
the juxtaposition of howlâs mess of a castle when sophie gets there, and sophieâs spotless âcastleâ when howl gets there after accidentally-on-purpose pissing off the witch of the waste (instead of sophiejust. being in the crossfire).
idk if sheâs have cacifer. because on one hand, i love their dynamic and itâs a great indicator of âoh he has her/his heart, and he listens to sophie/howl, their heart already belongs to one anotherâ
but also like. au!howl totally would still eat a fallen star fire demon for no reason other than for shits and giggles and omg magic that's so much more interesting than life in wales.
but also quiet au!califer (if he is sophie's fire demon) moments with howl, being more honest because thatâs who heâs spent his time with in this auâ sophie, a straightforward young woman who if people interpret her words wrong that's not her fault. emotional, sure, but with magic at her fingertips she is careful with how she phrases things.
and idk idk if this would be book!swap or movie!swap becAUSE I HAVE DIFFERENT IDEAS FOR BOTH? or maybe a mix?? ugh. different plots because movie!howl was a coward who ran away from his problems (madam suliman) and sophie, as a witch, just. wouldnât be.
also i only read the first howl's moving castle book. i have to read the other two :(
if i HAVE to separate them:
movie!verse
like movie wise howl. wouldnât have magic other than what sophie gifts him through trinkets? and this would include a whole arc on how âyouâre literally perfectly fine without it. special in your own wayâ [this would also be a sophie has califer au]
i think this would be a "wales doesn't exist" au becauseâ wait actually that could work but also the fact that howl's castle in the movies has a door that sophie's not allowed into. i think it's funny if that's how howl gets to ingary. the door sophie made on accident (oh, won't you lead me to somewhere ordinary?) when she was young and then she doesn't really visit because there's no reason to but one day her sister(s) visit and turn the door there and howl comes through.
i. really. really liked the âfated / chosen loversâ thing the movie had going on. BECAUSE. LIKE.
âfind me in the future!â and howl, at the beginning, goes, âi was looking everywhere for youâ
and. SOMEONE ON YOUTUBE NOTICED. BUT HOWLâS RING. THE RING THAT GLOWS WHEN ITS GUIDING YOU TO SOMEWHERE/SOMEONE YOU WANT TO GO. WAS GLOWING. WHEN HE FOUND SOPHIE.
so maybe it's a childhood childish promise when sophie went through to wales as a young girl and befriended Megan, howl's sister
âoh shit idk how the prince justin plotline would be resolved. bc sophie would Not feel grateful enough to kiss that guyâŚ? and howl. isnât the type i dont think. and the whole true love thing. hmm. well. maybe sophie can speak the cure into reality? i'll think about that more. later.
book!verse
or the gentle mentoring of sophie with this little arrogant pretty boy whoâs making Terrible Life Choices and pissing off witches and/or eating fire demons and giving them his heart because it's clear and obvious that he has magic (unlike sophie's Speak into Life magic)
and fanny hatter doesn't have to worry as much, because wow does sophie make money by speaking magic words being being generally kind and respectable for it. and so maybe the sisters get a bit more freedom and don't have to pull the switcharoo. and lettie gets directly introduced to mrs. fairfax, because sophie's magic is unique to her and very instictual.
and howl is freedom, in a way, because he's choosing this life and sophie cannot always try to be normal. she's changed and touched many many lives, and she hasn't ever truly wished/spoke that she wanted her magic gone.
and maybe because howl is younger, he isn't as. embarassed? or hides away his welsh heritage as much (at least from the three sisters who saw him come out of the door)
i think there would be more sympathy for the witch of the waste in the dialogue and their thoughts, at least from sophie's side, but also of how sympathy and knowing how she became who she is isn't an excuse, and sophie would do anything for the people she loves. the safety of the general public, sure, but that's because she has to live in this world and so does her family.
hm. the ms. angorian plotline. would probably be different because sophie wouldn't flirt with her. maybe a. something of a threat to her sisters? i don't know what form the fire demon would take but. something both more dangerous and unassuming because my view of sophie (in this au) doesn't really have bad habits that affect anyone but herself
anyway these don't have. concrete "which au is this" but.
