“N-no, I — I .. I’m fine, I just —” Each word that fell past the male’s lips was heavily accented with panic. Arnold’s breaths were sharp and shallow as his arms hugged around his torso; legs failing beneath his weight as he crumbled to his knees. “I don’t know — w-where I am.” A choked sob intermingled with the brunet’s distressed exclamation. “What- is t-this place?”
“Hey, hey —”
Angie followed the stranger to the ground, dropping gently onto one knee as she placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. “You’re not alone, I’m with you…” reassured Angie, her eyes tinged with worry. “Just breathe normally, no need to be scared. This is the kitchen, but I know that’s not really what you meant,” she joked lightly, hoping to take the man’s mind off of his panic attack.
“Wow that’s what stories are made of – though not really uncommon for this place, I believe. Are you feeling fine?”
“I’m – er, alright, actually.”
“What else happens around here, then?”
“—And?”
“What are those for?”
Max frowned at her. That was something he hadn’t heard before. “Uh…”
“You must think I’m crazy, right?”
“Have you looked at the people in this place?? It’s you and everyone else, bitch.”
…
“Well can this ‘bitch’ bum a smoke?”
❛ – i’m not really supposed to be here either, but – whoa, whoa, whoa, you died?? but like… you’re alive?? ❜
!!!
“Joe! –
– What the hell is going on? Where is everyone?”
‘ mhm. i’m sure that happened. ’
“But I know it did! My crazy ex-boyfriend’s uncle -- He…”
“He fucking axed me in the face!”
“Yeah, a lot people aren’t supposed to be here, but something or someone keeps bringing them”
“This is insane,
but I can’t say it’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to me.”
“To anyone else this would sound insane, but the same thing happened to me.”
“So I’m not going crazy?”
“I just remember something hitting my head… Hard.
What about you? Maybe we can both find out why we’re here.”
“ —- so what are you? immortal?”
“Hell no… At least, I shouldn’t be.”
“Who are you?
Are we still under the dome?”
“Okay…” Pause animated “But it’s not the better than everything” sad confessed “But is good!”
“It’s not better than everything? Okay then. What’s it about? Candyland?”
“—Just a minute.”
“Shit… I’m so sorry, I got lost and —”
“If you don’t mind telling me where I am, how I got here and why I’m not still dead?”
“I could ask you the same question.”
“I -,”
“I’m not supposed to be here. I died and now I’m back.”
“Prepare dear, to listen to the best story ever told at all times!” shouted at the reception.
“All right,” Angie said, with the enthusiasm of a child. “I’m ready to hear ‘the best story ever told at all times,’” she chuckled.
