Imagine paying $40 extra a month for Tumblr
That’s what is going to happen if we let Ajit Pai, the FCC chairman, go through with repealing Title II (AKA Net Neutrality).
Simply put, without Net Neutrality, Internet Service Providers like Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T will be able to “bundle” websites much like cable ON TOP OF paying for internet connection. “Want access to Netflix AND Tumblr? Get the Entertainment Package! $40 a month. What about Amazon and Ebay? Add an extra $20 a month to get the Shopping Package.”
Not only will they be able to bundle websites and charge more, they will also be able to censor and block websites that they don’t agree with entirely.
THIS WILL BE THE END OF INTERNET AS WE KNOW IT.
For business owners, it will be even worse. Ex: Comcast will ask Amazon to pay high fees to be available in a low-cost package, fees that websites like Poshmark or Etsy will not be able to pay. Therefore, only Fortune 500’s will be available to web users at a low cost. Say goodbye to Etsy (unless you’re willing to shell out $70 a month for the “All-Inclusive” package).
To learn about Net Neutrality, why it’s important, and/or want tools to help you fight for Net Neutrality, visit BattleForTheNet (https://www.battleforthenet.com)
There are five people deciding the future of the internet, three men (Rep) and two women (Dem). The two women have come out as No votes. We need only to convince ONE of the other members to flip to a NO vote to save Net Neutrality.
There are many ways you can help:
WHAT TO DO IF YOU’RE A LAZY TUMBLR USER WITH ANXIETY WHO TRIES TO HELP WITH JUST REBLOGS / LIKES:
Here are 2 petitions to sign, one international and one exclusively US.
International: https://www.savetheinternet.com/sti-home
US: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/do-not-repeal-net-neutrality
(After you sign make sure to verify via email, it may take up to 30 mins to receive the email).
Text “resist” to 504-09. It’s a bot that will send a formal email, fax, and letter to your representatives. It also finds your representatives for you. All you have to do is text it and it holds your hand the whole way.
HERE ARE MORE STRAIGHTFORWARD ACTIONS YOU CAN TAKE:
These are the emails of the 5 people on the FCC roster.

Most importantly, VOTE. This should not be something that is so clearly split between the political parties as it affects all Americans, but unfortunately it is.
Remember the last time the FCC nearly killed net neutrality?
Tumblr had this nice big banner at the top of your dashboard alerting any active user about the problem. Guess what has changed since then? Verizon, one of the companies gunning for the death of net neutrality owns yahoo who in turn own Tumblr. Spread the word, tell everyone you can: battleforthenet.com tag posts you see about net neutrality with popular tags so the news spreads.
🚨🚨🚨
today is Nov. 15. the FCC, under chairman Ajit Pai, will not listen to the public despite millions of comments in support of net neutrality. They are going to try their hardest to kill net neutrality, which in turn will kill the internet, which in turn will help eradicate democracy. it won’t just affect Americans, it has the potential to affect the entire internet, something we ALL use daily. you can bet your ass other countries will see america doing this, and use it as an excuse to do it in their own countries.
this is what buying a plan without net neutrality looks like there:
you have to pay MORE for features you’re already guaranteed to have under net neutrality. and in america, you already know how expensive everything is.
democrats AND republicans both want net neutrality. advocacy groups in touch with congress have said that if your members of congress receive calls from you, they are more encouraged and more likely to take action to stop Pai’s plan to gut net neutrality. after Nov. 22, it will be MUCH HARDER to convince your member of congress.
please, call them. call them daily.

hey guys, please reblog this version and don’t forget to call!!! if you are nervous about calling, you can use resistbot to send faxes to your reps and the stance app to pre-record your message so you won’t have to speak to anyone. (available in both google play and app store)
Trump Survival Tip No. 14: Save Net Neutrality, DIY the Internet
So if you’ve been on the internet at all in the last few weeks, you know that the Trump administration is trying to deep-six net neutrality for good. Hardly surprising, from the fascist dictatorship that rules our cyberpunk dystopia. The usual responses have been screeched from the heights of the internet–call your senators, sign this or that petition, all boiling down to representative problem-solving–delegating the actual solving of the problem, and thus the power over our lives, to someone else.
As an anarchist, an engineer, a punk, and a proponent of the free software and DIY movements, this doesn’t sit very well with me. I don’t like leaving my fate to the whims of the state or the capitalist. I prefer direct action–solving problems my damn self, with other people who also want a problem solved. People are hungry and food is thrown out? Dumpster it, and start a Food Not Bombs chapter. People are homeless and buildings are abandoned? Squat them. Kids need education on their real history? Start a free school.
With regards to the internet and saving net neutrality, the best way to attack the problem lies in removing power from its current seat–the internet service provider–and putting it back in our hands. No need to pray for regulation or goodwill on the part of the government or cable company. And the way to do this is to create a community network.
Community networks are essentially as described in this article (link). They use the basic architecture of WiFi. You’ve got the WiFi router for your home or apartment building, which bounces your signal to the omnidirectional antenna covering your block, which connects via aimed antenna to the next block, and so on. It’s the same basic principle as any network, up to the entire Internet. These community networks are owned and maintained by their users, making them decentralized, autonomous, resilient, and answering only to the userbase, down to the individual consumer.
Community networks already connect millions of people across the globe, in both developed and colonized nations; this is proven technology. And the best part is that it’s all based on cheap, off-the-shelf hardware that you and your friends can buy and operate yourselves. We don’t need to wait for any level of government, down even to municipal, for public telecom. We can go out and do it today, ourselves; get your neighbors together and you can start a community network this weekend.
And if you want to save net neutrality, that’s the way to do it–by permanently removing the cable company’s power over you.
Remember, when we fight, we win, so know how to fight!
The timeless art of the news dump.
This is important and everyone should know about it. Ajit Pai is an unapologetic piece of shit and he needs to be opposed at every turn. Signal boost.

IF YOU ARE READING THIS, CHANCES ARE YOU GO ON THE INTERNET EVERYDAY. THE FCC IS NOW PLANNING ON REPEALING NET NEUTRALITY. THIS MEANS THAT POPULAR WEBSITES WILL RUN SLOWLY UNTIL YOU PAY AN EXTRA FEE. WE WOULD NO LONGER HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF USING WEBSITES AND RESEARCHING FOR FREE.
TEXT ‘RESIST’ AT 50409 AND TELL YOUR SENATORS THAT NET NEUTRALITY NEEDS TO STAY.
Extremely important. Going to call and spread the word on other social media tomorrow.
writing-prompt-s:
Valhalla does not discriminate against the kind of fight you lost. Did you lose the battle with cancer? Maybe you died in a fist fight. Even facing addiction. After taking a deep drink from his flagon, Odin slams his cup down and asks for the glorious tale of your demise!
Oh my god, this is beautiful.
A small child enters Valhalla. The battle they lost was “hiding from an alcoholic father.” Odin sees the flinch when he slams the cup and refrains from doing it again. He hears the child’s pain; no glorious battle this, but one of fear and wretched survival.
He invites the child to sit with him, offers the choicest mead and instructs his men to bring a sword and shield, a bow and arrow, of the very best materials and appropriate size. “Here,” he says, “you will find no man who dares to harm you. But so you will know your own strength, and be happy all your days in Valhalla, I will teach you to use these weapons.”
The sad day comes when another child enters the hall. Odin does not slam his cup; he simply beams with pride as the first child approaches the newcomer, and holds out her bow and quiver, and says “nobody here will hurt you. Everyone will be so proud you did your best, and I’ll teach you to use these, so you always know how strong you are.”
————
A young man enters the hall. He hesitates when Odin asks his story, but at long last, it ekes out: skinheads after the Pride parade. His partner got into a building and called for help. The police took a little longer than perhaps they really needed to, and two of those selfsame skinheads are in the hospital now with broken bones that need setting, but six against one is no fair match. The fear in his face is obvious: here, among men large enough to break him in two, will he face an eternity of torment for the man he left behind?
Odin rumbles with anger. Curses the low worms who brought this man to his table, and regales him with tales of Loki so to show him his own welcome. “A day will come, my friend, when you seek to be reunited, and so you shall,” Odin tells him. “To request the aid of your comrades in battle is no shameful thing.”
———-
A woman in pink sits near the head of the table. She’s very nearly skin and bones, and has no hair. This will not last; health returns in Valhalla, and joy, and light, and merrymaking. But now her soul remembers the battle of her life, and it must heal.
Odin asks.
And asks again.
And the words pour out like poisoned water, things she couldn’t tell her husband or children. The pain of chemotherapy. The agony of a mastectomy, the pain still deeper of “we found a tumor in your lymph nodes. I’m so sorry.” And at last, the tortured question: what is left of her?
Odin raises his flagon high. “What is left of you, fair warrior queen, is a spirit bright as fire; a will as strong as any forged iron; a life as great as any sea. Your battle was hard-fought, and lost in the glory only such furor can bring, and now the pain and fight are behind you.“
In the months to come, she becomes a scop of the hall–no demotion, but simple choice. She tells the stories of the great healers, Agnes and Tanya, who fought alongside her and thousands of others, who turn from no battle in the belief that one day, one day, the war may be won; the warriors Jessie and Mabel and Jeri and Monique, still battling on; the queens and soldiers and great women of yore.
The day comes when she calls a familiar name, and another small, scarred woman, eyes sunken and dark, limbs frail, curly black hair shaved close to her head, looks up and sees her across the hall. Odin descends from his throne, a tall and foaming goblet in his hands, and stuns the hall entire into silence as he kneels before the newcomer and holds up the goblet between her small dark hands and bids her to drink.
“All-Father!” the feasting multitudes cry. “What brings great Odin, Spear-Shaker, Ancient One, Wand-Bearer, Teacher of Gods, to his knees for this lone waif?”
He waves them off with a hand.
“This woman, LaTeesha, Destroyer of Cancer, from whom the great tumors fly in fear, has fought that greatest battle,” he says, his voice rolling across the hall. “She has fought not another body, but her own; traded blows not with other limbs but with her own flesh; has allowed herself to be pierced with needles and scored with knives, taken poison into her very veins to defeat this enemy, and at long last it is time for her to put her weapons down. Do you think for a moment this fight is less glorious for being in silence, her deeds the less for having been aided by others who provided her weapons? She has a place in this great hall; indeed, the highest place.”
And the children perform feats of archery for the entertainment of all, and the women sing as the young man who still awaits his beloved plays a lute–which, after all, is not so different from the guitar he once used to break a man’s face in that great final fight.
Valhalla is a place of joy, of glory, of great feasting and merrymaking.
And it is a place for the soul and mind to heal.
THIS! This is the Hanged God who owns my loyalty, Old One-Eye who’s call I answer above all.
He is not one to turn the brave aside, asks no more than what one can give (Even if, at times, it doesn’t look that way.)
I’M NOT CRYING YOU’RE CRYING.
Shit i always lose it over stuff like this
this is too beautiful, regardless of your mythos these are honorable fights there is no shame to succumb to for you fought all the same an insurmountable evil. what matters is that you fought

HOW TO STEP UP YOUR WIG STYLING GAME
Before I list off my tips, I just want to include a very important piece of info! Something I learned when styling wigs is that once you accomplish your first super challenging wig…you feel like you can almost do any wig you put your heart into. Skills you get in one wig can easily be transferred into another wig. Many wigs have similar methods that you can re-use over and over again. All it takes is a little bit of confidence c: 1- Get the idea that “styling extreme wigs is like styling a real person’s hair” out of your system. You can use products like: super glue, clear caulking, hot glue, foam, fabric dye or whatever your creativity wants you to use. Look at a wig like you would look at building a prop. Envisioning a wig to be a craft project can make insane looking hairstyles seem much more possible. 2- Watch/read tutorials EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT DOING THE SAME CHARACTER THE TUTORIAL DEMONSTRATES. The info that a tutorial can provide can transferable to your own personal project or just to add to mental list of wig styling methods. Here’s a great list of tutorials: http://arda-wigs.com/pages/tutorials-articles http://students.washington.edu/costume/wordpress/tutorials/the-basics- of-wig-styling/ http://cosplaytutorial.com/list.php#wigs 3- Learn to proportion. The character’s hair spike is about as long as their face? How long is my face? 9 inches? Ok then I am making the spike 9 inches. Oh wait. That’s too unrealistically long, I’ll re-proportion it to half the size of my face and do the same with the rest of the spikes. Done. 4- Tools of trade? A basic starting wig styling kit should include: -Wig head -Comb(s) -Got2be glued gel -Got2be glued hair spray -Thinning shears -Regular shears -Alligator clips -Small elastic hair ties -Foam curlers -Blow dryer -Straightener (can be purchased at Sally’s beauty supply store, Walmart, online wig shops) 5- USE A MALE WIG HEAD FOR YOUR STYLING. Why? They are much more similar to the size of an actual human head. 6- Understand the differences between wig wefts, wig fibers, and lace fronts vs non lace fronts. Here’s a good guide. 7- Do not underestimate the power of a hair blow dryer. (Especially if you work with Arda wig’s fibers). Just like a heat gun is to Worbla. You can shape, add volume, and set/dry gel with a blow dryer. 8- Familiarize yourself with wig styling lingo What does it mean to ventilate a lace front? What is stubbing?! A simple google search can open so many doors. If this list helped you, feel free to reblog to share with your followers~ c:
Thank you for reading!
This is a fantastic list! And they are right, a hair blow dryer is you best friend.
you’re stuck living with your icon for a month have fun
