Pale arc 7 was a ride

In the smallest, a man rose to his feet, dressed in a sleek black suit with white gloves and shoes. It didn’t appear that he had a human head or a human neck, but instead, a mess of yellow flowers with gray leaves and petals spilled up from the neck and chest, a large, coiled black serpent resting on that bed of greenery. The poise and posture were precise. – Pale 6.1

A commission of Mr. Rudbeck from Pale! This is my first fully rendered piece in a while, and the first comm I've used photobashing for. Challenging, but I'm pretty happy with the results.

Finished Subnautica earlier and the brainrot compelled me to draw the Sea Emperor Leviathan as a mermaid. She's so cool I love her so much ;-;

Design notes and alt coloring below the cut:

The only description we get of the KiY is "yellow robe like tentacles" or something like that, so I tried to get that across with tattered scraps of John's robe. Same concept with this design of him (and other entities) I did a while ago.

The book sign is just a stylized "evo" from the Malevolent logo, which is supposed to be the yellow sign. Realized too late while drawing that the bestiary doesn't have that sign ;-; oh well.

Arthur is based on a photo of Basil Rathbone, who I used as reference specifically because he's known for playing Sherlock Holmes! Seems apt for a private investigator.
