Sometimes I get a glimpse of how some authors talk about book piracy and libraries or borrowing books and I realize why Marxists consider most published authors petite bourgeoisie
“These poor people think they are entitled to art! Don’t you know if you’re poor you’re supposed to never have any hobbies.” - average small published author on their instagram story
I need millennial and Gen Z aspiring writers who are anti-piracy to understand something: publishers have been slashing royalties and residuals for years. Piracy isn't your enemy.
You're not going to own your works.
if he has abs he doesnt care about you
men with abs aren’t capable of love
Myanmar got away with the genocide of Muslim Rohingya with the cooperation of every single Asian countries!!!
China blocked multiple attempts to bring Myanmar to justice while ASEAN countries accepted and hosted Myanmar's junta and their illegal earnings!! Guilty, guilty, guilty as hell. Everyone is guilty
India's refugee policies were in fact urgently based around denying Rohingya fleeing from the Junta asylum.
We have learnt that they were flown from Delhi to an island in the Bay of Bengal, put on a naval vessel and eventually forced into the Andaman Sea with life jackets. They then made their way to shore and are now facing an uncertain future in Myanmar, which the mostly-Muslim Rohingya community had fled in huge numbers in recent years to escape persecution.
"They bound our hands, covered our faces and brought us like captives [on to the boat]. Then they threw us in the sea," John, one of the men in the group, told his brother by phone soon after reaching land.
Rohingya refugees tell the BBC they were flown from Delhi and forced into the sea off the coast of Myanmar.
Feeling insane that we Malaysians are still doing shit like questioning why we don't send Rohingyans and other refugees away to countries that did sign those UN refugee convention treaty that's because
They don't accept refugees anymore!!!!
Most refugees are stuck in transit countries with little to no rights!!!

Who deserved to live more?
The Romanovs (entire royal family circa 1917 including the kids)
Harambe the gorilla
A polling group that never read accounts of of the children were executed.
oh my god Harambe had kids?
Soooo true
White British girls would use spray tan ten times darker than their own skin while Southeast Asian girls would wear foundation ten times lighter to be as pale as their East Asian peers
It's a fucked up world out there
In Malay language, window shopping (casually looking around shops without intending to buy anything) is commonly called “cuci-cuci mata” (literally “washing/cleansing the eyes”).
In some Malaysian slang contexts, “menyelam” (“diving”) can refer to digging through thrift stores for good finds.
Now you know.
I think it’s inevitable that, as the world drifts further toward fascism, its artistic and cultural institutions will increasingly reflect that same reactionary order. We will increasingly see cultural awards reward artists and writers who cater to this new political reality, while those who fall outside of it are pushed further to the margins.
Bleak times are ahead, I fear.
This is the norm today.
If all cultural and literary awards today are funded by genocidiers and capitalists then we should not be too eager to chase for that prestige, as a writer or a reader
My paternal grandmother(mestiza) used to refer to this Israeli tenant of hers as “el gusanillo de masa” or “the little dough worm” due to his pale complexion.
why do USAmericans love to make advice posts like EVERYBODY NEEDS TO DO THIS THING IF YOU DONT DO THIS THING THEN YOU WILL BE FUCKED FOREVER!!! and then you look up the thing and its solving a problem that only exists in the US
for literally anyone not in America this is the worst financial advice ever
every country in the world that has credit cards has credit rating systems. unless you never intend to need a loan for a house, a car, unexpected expenses, graduate education or acquire insurance on some of those, regularly purchasing and paying off credit card bills is the single easiest way to get all of those much much cheaper. credit cards also have some benefits – its much easier to recover from fraudulent charges before your money is actually removed from your account, you get some percent of cashback benefits because other people don’t use credit cards responsibly. all of this is true even in the third world where banking is more fragile. get a credit card if you can use it responsibly, ie, exactly like a debit card by not spending more than you have and setup automatic payments on time.
