Also, VHS tapes did not have menu screens. Your only options were play, fast forward, rewind, pause, stop, or eject.

You also cannot turn on subtitles on a VHS tape. It either has captions or doesn't. Usually doesn't.
Select next track on a record involved surgical precision, and the risk of destroying the very recording if you placed the needle just wrong. Of course, naturally, the spinning platter of recorded medium was extremely sensitive to being scratched, given all of the data was encoded with scratch marks and dents.
Also a lot of CRT TVs are big and bulky. They also need to be plugged into a wall to function since they don't have a battery. This means they have a power cable- often permanently connected to the tv itself- and not a charging cable. Hope this helps.
