Trampoline
This sick bleach shirt I made. Something to showcase my undying love for prehistoric cave art.
Some of the bleach burned thru the shirt bc this was my first time bleaching anything ever, but it kinda adds to it.
Those little steppy steps are fascinating, where did you pull that from miss ma’am??

Medieval Toy Unearthed in Poland
A 800-year-old horse figurine was found during an excavation conducted as part of the construction of a new fire station in Toruń, a medieval town on the Vistula River in north-central Poland. The small clay horse was glazed and has a hole in its underside. Researchers think a stick may have fit into the hole so that playing children could pretend to make the horse gallop or use it as a puppet.
Happy (belated) birthday to our spiciest Icelandic Hviða frá Markarbrú, who turns 15 today!
(And with spicy it's more like...She has her own ideas sometimes. Cheerfully walks into people's gardens with Roos just coming along on her back. It's 99% of the time not Roos' idea.)
It’s very much a work in progress still BUT shoutout to the moth that happily hovered around a yet unopened box of white wool and thought “ha, dinner!” and promptly got sprayed with bug spray. NOPE. GO AWAY AND STAY AWAY.
(Had to make space in my van for Hviða to practise walking in, got to use the newly installed holders for a bit. Tomorrow they move back to the van so I can finish painting my wall in one of my company colours.) (and then continue taking apart the bad saddles so I can try to make bags out of those 😎)

For my communications job I can also do a lot of work from my phone, so I set up in the paddock yesterday while writing a plan and enjoying the view and company ♥️
year of the horse
Helping a friend with a new saddle and getting videos and feedback that the horse in question is actually starting to use their back, actually starting to trot better and easier....Yeah. Yeah that's why I do this.
(Obvs I've seen the saddle on the horse as well, you can't throw a saddle on and go "yeah that fits" and let the people pay for it and go home. THAT IS NOT HOW THIS WORKS. You know if a saddle fits bc of a regular check but also a dynamic check. Your horse might not like the filling of the saddle (some prefer softer, some prefer more solid or air), the rider needs to feel how the saddle fits for them, you need to see the both of them IN ACTION to determine whether this is a match or not. THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL. This horse suddenly showed a little more jump in her otherwise flat canter (she's a five-gaited icelandic, canter tends to be harder for them to do properly), transitions into trot were smooth and powerful and taking a few steps backwards showed me a back that could arch into the movement without being hindered by a too narrow channel (which her previous saddle had). Compared to me seeing her even two weeks ago (and leaving a different saddle with the same properties as this one but with a different build for the rider) this was some lovely development to witness. WHICH YOU NEED TO SEE AS A SADDLE FITTER. JUST FYI.) (Can you tell this is from personal experience before I learned to fit saddles?)
Also! Back at school and did three exams (saddle filling, saddle faults and a consult + templating with a client) of which I only failed saddle faults bc I missed some well hidden ones. Compared to last year, I wasn't as stressed, I knew what I was talking about, I communicated well and while there's always still stuff I need to focus on some more, I'm honestly jusrt very glad with my personal progress. I didn't sweat half my body weight off, for one 😅
Katie Harris is photographed with her Appaloosa. Harris made most of the horse trappings as well as her own traditional outfits herself, including the bead work. Some of the trappings are passed down from older generations but the girls like to make their own to continue the tradition.
