I like to think in that moment, when Takashi is grieving what few memories he has left of his childhood home and of his late father, that perhaps his father's spirit was watching from beyond a place that even Takashi can see. I also added ghostly flowers in the yard that his father had been planning to make bloom in honor of his wife/Takashi's mother.
