I actually heard someone say they thought they were going to die from having diarrhea for 5 days…
That’s cute.

I'm always impressed when receptionists at doctors offices remember me... and then I realize, oh wait... I'm here wayyyy too often. 🙁
How do you get people to listen to you?
I feel like i talk to a brick wall all the time. I mean, people ask how I feel. When I respond, I can literally hear the crickets chirp. Ok not literally but you get he point... no follow-up. They ask about treatment and then move on.. Or my new fav... ask me if I have the best doctor in town (spoiler alert, I do). Do they actually care? Am I being overly sensitive?
Just when you think you're feeling better....
You eat some soup and end up on the toilet for hours.... 😩
My husband once asked me why I don't take any medicine for my period pains. I told him because I believe if it's something my body is supposed to go through, I should be able to handle it.... as I choke down a handful of pills for Crohn's.
The reason my response to "so when are you guys going to have kids" is 'never' this holiday season is because it's Christmas morning... and I can't leave the bathroom.
Why do I get the assholes?! 😤
It all started yesterday (Monday) I get a phone call for my iron infusion. "Taylor, can you come in Tuesday or Thursday at noon?" I reply that I can't because I have to work. Tuesday or Wednesday early morning work best for me. They say they have to call back. They do, while I'm at work, so they leave a vm. I call back, tell them who I am and why I'm calling. They say, "oh Taylor. I have Tuesday or Thursday at noon for you". Me: "yeah, i have to work, I told you that earlier." Them: "ohhh... right. How about tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9am. Me: "that works perfectly. Can you remind me how long that infusion is again?" Them: "it's 4 hours" Me: "no... it's not." Them: "yes... it's your first one, it takes 4 hours...(said very sternly)" Me: "no it's not, I've had it many times. It should take somewhere between 30-60 mins" Them: "then it's your first time having it done here..." Me: "no, it's not. You have the wrong person. I'm getting an iron treatment... " them: "oooooh right. It should take about 60mins" Me: 😐 THEN! Today, Tuesday, I go to my treatment and sit next to most caring and loving cancer patient and her mom. So sweet. My nurse was awesome. It was great. Before even getting the IV out, my nurse asked me if next Tuesday same time worked... I said sure. When I'm done, she takes the IV out and sends me on my way. After sharing my prayers to my new cancer friends... I head out ready to starts my day. As I'm walking out, the scheduler stops me... H: "Taylor, hold on we need to schedule your next treatment" Me: "ah, I'm sorry, I thought I did this" H: "well, were only supposed to take chemo patients on Tuesdays" Me: "oh well, that's when they told me to come, I can do Wednesday early am too" H: "no I'm just saying for next time... it can't be on a Tuesday" Me: "oh, well, I only get my iron 2 weeks in a row, every 6 months or so..." H: "yeah but when we schedule the next one... can't you take a day off work?" Me: "no, I can't... I have Crohn's disease... I take a lot of sick days... I try to schedule when I don't have work..." H: "do they know what's going on with you?" Me: "I mean yeah?" H: "and they won't give you any time off?" Me: "uhhh... 😐 " H: "sounds insensitive to me" Me: "what... well I'm a dance teacher, I have classes I need to teach. I need to be there when I have a class" H: "well for the next time..." Me: "I can reschedule it right now if you want me to..." H: "no I'm just saying for the next time..." Me: "well hopefully I won't have to deal with this next time fucking Heidi... I'm sorry my illness isn't as serious as cancer, but without my iron I could die... so can I have my infusion next Tuesday or what?" H: "yeah we can keep it for now but next time..." Me: "ok... C U NEXT TUESDAY HEIDI!!!" 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
At the doctors with the hubby
Doc: don't worry, we've seen and heard of everything
[quick glance at the hubby]
Tay: [rattling off symptoms]
Doc: wow. Well since your situation is so unique...
😐
But at least pj got to witness this in real life this time
Today at brunch my husband told me I should take a pic of our plates and blog it. I looked at him and asked why, thinking that I don't blog food. He said, "because look at how awesome my brunch is and how sad yours is cuz you feel like crap." 😐 thanks honey
I feel like my bruise from my thyroid biopsy should be darker because of the amount of pain Im in. Seriously, the weirdest doctors appt in the world. 😖
When I see people pigging out on fast food, the first thing I think of is, "man, you're going to be in pain in 3 seconds." But then I remember not everyone has Crohn's and I suddenly feel so alone. 😞
Thyroid Ultrasound
So after my Obgyn appt, my doc noticed a lump on my thyroid and ordered an unltrasound. Friday: I forget my order 😒 Monday: 7am- ultrasound machine not working. 😑 (after I drove a half hour away) Tuesday 12:45 : ultrasound machine STILL NOT WORKING! 😡 Tuesday 3:30: no record of appt.... But still take me. The tech tho! Her name was Lauren and she was awesome. Seriously made everything better. Asked about everything from why I'm here to crohn's and all my symptoms. She made it all ok. Lauren- thank you. You rock and I wish UH AT PARMA knows how lucky they are to have you!
So today while at the Obgyn for a reg visit.. With some abnormal bleeding... My doc finds a lump on my thyroid. Because why not. Abnormal bleeding could be caused by my entocort 🙏🏻 . Or by a thyroid problem 😰. Or some nodules in my uterus 😰😰. Or pregnancy 😂😂🖐🏽. SO today I had blood work. Tomorrow I have an ultrasound to make sure there is, indeed, a lump on my thyroid. Thursday I have an ultrasound to see if there is anything in my girl parts. WHAT THE FORK?!? 😨 Photos are 2 days worth of blood work. You're welcome.
When the highlight of your doctors appt is when the nurse gets in, draws blood, and gets out, without you even noticing.
Grandma would be proud of this balance 😍 #grandma
Having a chronic illness has really put life into perspective for me. For instance... When someone gets mad at me and doesn't talk to me for a year with no explanation... I don't care. Because I have other shit to worry about... Like literal shit. The pettiness of whatever the reason is just makes me hate them more than they hate me. I need to worry more about my body and my disease, not why someone woke up one day and decided to hate the beautiful mess that is me. So suck on that 💃🏼
She decided to wait for me at a place I visit often. 💩
