Why do people think a mask protects them? It isnt a respirator masks that filters the air, its a piece of cloth meant to prevent others from getting sick from you. It honestly is confusing to me. I'm not trying to be a douchebag, just its been talked about so much and people still aren't sure what masks do and who they protect.

If you are sick with any autoimmune issues, its best to know that wearing a mask protects others from airborne illnesses in a 6ft radius (just over 2m), you wearing a mask doesn't protect you. Its meant to protect others. Thats why peoples didn't/don't wear the masks when sick.

Any tips for cooking for someone immunocompromised? I know to wash and cook everything thoroughly, but I don’t know how cooked non-raw meat things need to be.

I'm immunosuppressed. The recent measles outbreaks concern me - I know immunity can decrease over time, measles creates "immunity amnesia" (it erases immunity gained through previous infections and vaccines, so you are now extremely vulnerable), and the director of HHS, RFKjr, doesn't believe in GERM THEORY so I can't imagine vaccination rates will increase or that the CDC recommendations regarding disease outbreak will be scientifically based.

So I got my titers checked. I'm still immune to measles, but I have no immunity to mumps or rubella. I scheduled a booster - but the booster contains live virus. I can't get it without getting very sick.

To say I'm (once again) scared and angry because I can't depend on my fellow humans to help protect me because they have been misinformed, lied to, manipulated into believing it's unnecessary, unimportant, or even harmful is an understatement.

Get vaccinated. Get your titers checked. I'm still masking indoors.

💊Ya girl has been fatigued, bruising like a lil banana, on new meds, and now on medical leave while I try and get my physical health and mental health sorted. Arthritis requires 3 medications now to hopefully get back to being controlled, aaaand I'm havin' a blegh time! 💁🏻‍♀️💊
