Its even worse than that. I’m living through it. Not only are schools closing, hospitals are collapsing. Only around 9% of the island has electricity and it comes and goes at times.

People are dying in hospitals because of lack of diesel for the generators, a lot of the water is now infected, there are disease outbreaks and scareceness of food. I am safe, but many are not.

Some have water, others don’t. We need help. Sending money would be helpful but what would help even more would be sending water filters, filtering water bottles, food, medicine, if somehow possible diesel.

All of you reblogging this news helps, but what we need is physical help. If you can’t, then spread the word, but God if you can send supplies… Please… PLEASE do. We are dying. Help us, help us save ourselves. Help us save our people. Help us save out ISLAND.

You know, every time Puerto Rico comes up I’m reminded of a comment my dad made in a discussion about it, in response to someone claiming that the PR situation is terrible but oh well, what can we do? They’re SO far away after all and the logistic problems are SO hard.

Yesterday I went to buy some yarn and so you know how annoying it is when fucking people put those stupid bullshit “don’t use this, wool is murder” PETA stickers on the label?

First of all, stop defacing stock in someone’s store. You’re not clever or saving the planet or anything. You’re making it hard for customers to shop and see the info they need on the label (yardage, weight, dye lot)… You’re making employees spend hours peeling the damn things off, and in some cases, you’re causing damage to the label and or yarn itself. That means loss to the company, which affects employees who probably make minimum wage, you shit bags. You want to make change happen? Contact corporate, you fuckhead. That’s where decisions are made.

Second of all, wool is not murder. Are you fucking stupid? (Obviously the answer is yes). It’s a fucking haircut for a sheep. They’ve been domesticated so long that if we don’t sheer them, it’s bad. Yes, some sheep don’t live in ideal conditions. Got a problem with that? Going to a yarn store and putting stickers on things isn’t going to change it or the minds of customers. For fuck’s sake, you absolute cockwomble, go to the yarn companies. Make them use wool providers that use humane conditions for their yarn, like A LOT OF YARN COMPANIES DO.

And third of all.

I really used to love and idolize Johnny Depp. I thought he was a brilliant and talented actor; hell, just the other day, I said he was one of my favorite actors. And I believed that he was a genuinely good person because he had always seemed so friendly. 

To find out that not only is he a filthy abuser, but to also find out that abuse seemed to stem out from biphobia, is both heartbreaking and frustrating as hell. This is a man I looked up to and it’s a pretty huge slap in the face to find out the guy I looked up to is an abusive biphobe. It’s almost like being betrayed in a way, I guess. 

And I’m angry as hell because I know exactly how this is going to go down.

People are going to blame his wife. Call her a slut and a golddigger and that she was “whoring around” with her lesbian friends, thus reinforcing that gross as fuck myth that all bisexuals are “sluts” who fuck everyone in order to get something out of people. People will say that they feel sorry for Johnny Depp and call Amber Heard a liar and an attention seeker. 

This will probably not affect Johnny Depp in the slightest and I think he knows it too. Because he’s Johnny Fucking Depp, a talented cis white actor, he will continued to be cast in films. He will continue to work and support and love from his fans/followers, who will band together to no doubt label Amber Heard as that no-good bi slut who deserved to get beat. 

I’m angry. I’m really fucking angry. And I will stand by Amber Heard throughout this entire time. She is a victim and she deserves to be heard and supported.

Notes on Boycotting Marvel/Disney

OK. Some people want to make the boycott larger. That’s not going to work. Here is why.

When a large company like Marvel or Disney sees a drop in revenue they’re going to want to know where and why. If you are indiscriminate in where you boycott they’ll see a drop of revenue across the board and not know what it is you are boycotting or why. If they specifically see a drop in revenue based on something very specific they’ll get the message. 

My opinion here is to just boycott the Captain America book or anything Nick Spencer writes. Make the missing revenue obvious. If you subscribe to a digital service that sends you the comic cancel that service. They’ll ask you why you are cancelling. Tell them that you are cancelling because of what Nick Spencer and Tom Brevoort did to Captain America and his legacy. 

My point here is that you can’t send a message if you are non-specific.
