Relationships: Luigi x Bowser (& Mario x Peach but this story isn't really about them)
Summary: When the royal members of the Mushroom Kingdom struggle to come up with a plan to stop Bowser from ruining Mario and Peach’s wedding, Luigi volunteers to distract the fearsome Koopa King. But when the day of the long-anticipated wedding finally arrives, an accidental discovery sets off a chain of events that soon escalate into something no one, not even Luigi and Bowser, can possibly imagine.

Luigi couldn’t help but let out an involuntary groan as he slowly began to regain consciousness. Between the soft pounding sensation in his head to the silent observation that most of his limbs felt as heavy as lead, the green-clad plumber was not only slow to open his eyes, but it also took him quite a while to realize that he was laying on something that could only be described as a large fluffy cloud.
Luigi tried to recall the events that led him to this precise moment, but this resulted in the soft pounding sensation to spike into a much stronger headache. The green-clad Italian closed his eyes due to the painful, but to his surprise, he was able move his right arm far enough to rest his hand on his forehead.
But whatever emotions Luigi felt at that moment were immediately replaced with confusion as soon as he felt silk-like fabric touching his forehead.
This bewilderment was more than enough to give Luigi the strength he needed to simultaneously open his eyes and inspect both of his arms. The green Italian furrowed his brows when he saw that he was wearing long white opera gloves instead of his familiar worn-down cotton gloves.
But what especially made things all the more puzzling for Luigi was that when he eventually forced himself to sit upright, he discovered three very important things:
First, he was wearing a puffy white dress instead of his usual dark blue overalls and green long-sleeve shirt.
Second, a few pieces of long blond hair were right in front of his face.
And third, a surgical mask was covering his round nose and mustache.
None of this was making any sense…
What on Earth happened to him?
Luigi silently stared at his very puzzling getup for what felt like hours before he decided to make actual use of his time and observe his surroundings. It didn’t take the green Italian much time to discover that he was in a fancy pink bedroom. In addition to the king-sized bed that Luigi was currently sitting on, the bedroom also had a large magnificent fireplace, a closed-off room that Luigi suspected was either a closet or a connecting bathroom, a grandfather clock that read 3:45 pm, a vanity dressing table, and three large windows masked with light blue fabric curtains.
Funnily enough, if it weren’t for the three large windows, Luigi would’ve guessed that he was in Peach’s bedroom at the Mushroom King-
Luigi let out a loud, sudden gasp as his memories came rushing back to him.
That meeting with the Mushroom Kingdom royal court…
Peach teaching him how to act and speak like her…
Toadette and the royal seamstress putting the finishing touches on his disguise…
Mario visiting him despite that he still needed to get ready for his wedding ceremony…
And Bowser standing right in front of those balcony doors…
I want to talk about the video game Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars/Super Mario RPG.
To be more specific, I want to talk about a Bowuigi idea that would take place during the events of Super Mario RPG.
This idea begins with Mario, Geno, Mallow, Princess Peach, and Bowser arriving in Star Hill because Frogfucius told them that one of the Star Pieces might be located here. Once Mario & co. arrive at Star Hill, Geno gives the other heroes a little history about the location (mainly in that Star Hill is where wishes come true). Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Mallow also notice greenish stars scattered around Star Hill and Geno explains to them that these greenish stars are called Wish Stars. Normally, Wish Stars travel to Star Road and then fall onto Star Hill once that wish is granted. However, because Exor destroyed the Star Road, these Wish Stars Mario & co. see are actually unfulfilled wishes. Geno also informs the four heroes that they can listen to the wishes, if they so desire.
So Mario & co. split up to find the Star Piece. After a few minutes or so, Bowser finds not one, but two Wish Stars laying right next to each other. To be honest, this is kind of a strange sight for Bowser to see since all of the other Wish Stars he saw were at least 10-15 feet away from each other.
Nonetheless, Bowser decides to listen to one of the Wish Stars. However, Bowser feels his heart stop upon hearing his own wish coming out of the Wish Star:
“I wish for my boyfriend, Luigi, to be safe and happy.”
Bowser quickly looks around and lets out a huge sigh of relief when he doesn’t see any of the other four heroes. He and Luigi have been secretly dating for only about 3 weeks now and while he knew that people were eventually going to find out about them, Bowser (and especially Luigi) weren't quite ready to reveal their relationship (especially to Mario).
Bowser was very hesitant, but he ultimately decided to listen to the other Wish Star.
“I…I just want my big brother and Princess Peach to be okay with me and my relationship with Bowser…”
Hearing Luigi’s wish leaves Bowser speechless. Like really, really speechless. Sure, he knew that Luigi was nervous about revealing his and Bowser's relationship to his twin brother and Peach, but hearing his boyfriend’s sad and broken voice just…shatters the Koopa King’s heart.
Bowser needs to fix that Star Road. If that means having to swallow his pride and play nice with that annoying pipsqueak plumber and that know-it-all doll, then so be it.
Whatever it takes to grant Luigi’s wish, Bowser will do it.
Because he loves that goofy little green-clad plumber more than anything else in the world.
Mario and Bowser's relationship in a nutshell (when it comes to Bowuigi):
Mario: *worried* Lu, are you all right?
Luigi: *sad* I'll be fine.
Bowser: Is this about your argument with Peach?
Mario: No Bowser. He's upset because he just noticed that Goombas don't have arms.

It’s me. I listened to the song Gentle Voices by JT Music and came up with an angst Bowuigi story starring none other than King Boo?
Part 1 of this idea is under cut because this is going to be a long post otherwise.
*************************
We begin our story all the way back to the very first Luigi’s Mansion game. To be more specific, this story begins in the Secret Alter room where Luigi confronts King Boo for the very first time. Now throughout most of this haunted adventure, King Boo has never seen Luigi as a real threat. The ghost king saw how terrified Luigi was of him and his Boos back in the Storage Room, so he figured that one of his Boos (or one of the many other ghosts in the mansion) would have a pretty easy time stopping the scaredy-cat plumber from ruining his plan. But now? Well, seeing Luigi standing in the Secret Alter room with a brave-ish look on face kind off…surprised King Boo.
In fact, one could even say that seeing Luigi…kind of scared the ghost king.
But instead of showing any hint of fear, King Boo makes a snarky comment on how he’s surprised that Luigi was able to get this far without passing out from fear. Luigi doesn’t respond to King Boo’s snarky little comment at all. King Boo then genuine complements Luigi by saying that even though Luigi is deathly afraid of ghosts, King Boo is impressed that Luigi is willing to face his deepest fear even if it means saving the one and only person who doesn’t belittle and mistreat him. This remark makes Luigi flinch ever so slightly, but he tries not to show it. However, King Boo can tell that his comment bothered Luigi, which leads to him eventually making the following deal with Luigi:
“I will let Mario go and I will promise to not bother him or anyone else in this pathetic galaxy ever again on the sole condition that you work for me for all eternity.”
This deal…makes Luigi speechless. Like…really, really speechless. First off, if Luigi were to both say no to King Boo and lose the fight against the ghost king, nothing would stop King Boo from taking over the Mushroom Kingdom. And if anyone got hurt because of King Boo, Luigi would feel incredibly guilty (since those people wouldn't have gotten hurt if he had defeated King Boo).
Second off, the fact that King Boo gave him a genuine compliment made Luigi feel…like he matters. Since the very first day Mario and Luigi landed in the Mushroom Kingdom, almost every single Toad, enemies, and what-have-you has belittled and/or mistreated Luigi. Even Starlow herself (who gets along with every single other person she meets even if she doesn’t know them at all) has repeatedly told Luigi how annoying and cowardly he is and wishes that he was half the hero Mario is.
It’s a very tempering offer and part of Luigi is seriously considering King Boo’s deal.
But what about Mario? And Peach? And Daisy? And Yoshi?
They care about him too.
Isn’t that enough?
After what felt like an eternity, Luigi breaks the silence with a determined, "No." This surprises both Luigi and King Boo, but the green-clad plumber quickly regained his focus and explain to the ghost king, “There's…there’s no guarantee that you won’t turn me into a painting and attack the Mushroom Kingdom if I agree to your deal. Plus…, Mario is not the only one who cares about me. Peach, Daisy, Yoshi…, they’re all my friends too and even though I’ve met a lot of mean-hearted people throughout my life, I truly believe that there are more people in this world who will see me as more than just Mario’s shadow.”
The Secret Alter room is quiet for a while (and I mean a while). Luigi knows that his words will make King Boo mad, but quite frankly..., he doesn’t care. There are people in the world who really do care about Luigi and the green-clad plumber does truly believe that he will eventually find more people to befriend (and maybe, just maybe, even find that special person).
King Boo eventually breaks the silence with a laugh. He…He should’ve expected this reaction, but a part of him honestly thought that Luigi was going to accept his offer.
“If that is how you really feel…,” King Boo eventually said, “then I will fight you like a true Boo!”
_______________
This next section pretty much aligns with the 3 Luigi’s Mansion games. The final fight between Luigi & King Boo (& the aftermath) in Luigi’s Mansion remain the same, the events of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon remain the same, and the events of Luigi’s Mansion 3 remain the same.
But throughout & in-between all of those games, the idea of Luigi working for/teaming up with King Boo has never been brought up again.
Well…, that’s not entirely true. King Boo’s offer has never been brought up to Luigi’s face again.
King Boo himself, on the other hand, has thought about the offer he made to Luigi many times. Many, many times, actually. However, King Boo is not stupid. As much as he hates to admit it, whatever chance he had in persuading Luigi to work for him is completely gone now.
What King Boo really needs is…a different puppet. A big, strong, dumb puppet.
This is where Bowser comes into the picture.
About 6 months after the events of Luigi’s Mansion 3, Professor E. Gadd is working on an invention at his laboratory when he suddenly hears a knock at his laboratory door. This was a rather strange occurrence to the professor because it's rare for him to get visitors (besides some ghosts who show up every once in a while, but they just let themselves in cause they’re ghosts). Nonetheless, the professor makes the decision to take a small break and see what the unexpected visitor needs.
As soon as E. Gadd opens the door though, he has two different reactions.
First, he is happy to see Luigi.
And second, he is confused to see a large Koopa standing right beside Luigi.
E. Gadd is quick to let Luigi and his new friend in the laboratory. Luigi apologizes for dropping by without giving the professor any heads-up, but E. Gadd doesn’t mind that. It does warm the old professor’s heart to see the man he thinks of as his son.
Although…, E. Gadd is still a little confused with the new friend Luigi brought with him.
Eventually, Luigi says this to E. Gadd: “Professor…, this is Bowser, King of the Dark Lands and…my boyfriend. I…I thought it would be a good idea for you two to meet.”
The laboratory is quiet for a while. Each second that silently passes only fills Luigi with more and more anxiety. He didn’t know how E. Gadd was going to react to him dating the #1 enemy of the Mushroom Kingdom, but Luigi wanted to introduce Bowser to E. Gadd (and vice versa) because he does see E. Gadd as a father figure.
Eventually, E. Gadd confesses that he is happy that Luigi found someone he loves and care about and tells them that they have his full support. While Luigi (and Bowser) blush at the mention of the “L” word (because they have not said the “L” word to each other yet), Luigi is also extremely relieved that his father figure is okay with…well…, all of this, really.
But unbeknownst to Luigi, E. Gadd, and Bowser, someone had been…watching them.
A certain…ghost king…
And considering that he also heard every single word of their conversation, King Boo’s evil smirk only grew as he stared at his ghost canister’s reflection.
I know that it's been a while since I've made a Tumblr post.
On the positive side of things though, I am excited to tell you all that I am actively working on my Bowuigi story, To Love the Enemy is a Treasonous Journey (Ao3 link & a little summary of the story is provided below).
Thanks for being patient with me (again) and I hope to see you in my next post/Ao3 chapter.

Fun Fact: Mario Kart: Double Dash is currently the only Mario Kart game that Nintendo has made where you can play as two different characters at the same time (one character is the driver and the other character uses items).
And what I find really cool about this "two drivers in a single kart" feature is that since there are 20 different characters in MKDD, there are over 100 different ways you can combine these 20 characters into one team.
One of these 100+ teams is, of course, none other than Luigi and Bowser.
It took a while, but I finally finished writing the sequel to the sequel of my Luigi x DK and Bowuigi project.

As usual, full story is under cut because this is going to be a long post otherwise.
******************
This idea starts with the important detail that DK and Luigi have been dating for 11 months now (Note: this post takes place 7 months after the events of part 2). While yes, things started off a little rocky between them (because if you recall in part 1, DK did shatter Luigi’s self-confidence by calling him a weakling), it wasn’t long before Luigi and DK’s relationship blossomed into something both wonderful and heart-warming.
In fact, when DK notices that his and Luigi’s 1-year anniversary is next month, he decides that he wants to go all out for his human boyfriend. At first, DK thought about doing something like taking Luigi to Isle Delfino (since Luigi has never been to Isle Delfino) or recreating their first date, but those ideas weren’t good enough for DK. DK wants to do something that will not only show Luigi just how much DK loves him, but also show Luigi that DK wants to spend the rest of his life with him. That’s when DK gets an idea. DK could propose to Luigi.
Now while their anniversary is 1 month away, there are two very important things DK needs to do before he can even begin to figure out how he wants to pop the question to Luigi, the first being that he needs to ask Mario for his blessing. Yes, DK could just propose to Luigi without asking/telling Mario, but that wouldn’t feel right to DK. DK wants to let Mario know that he wants to marry Luigi.
About a week after DK gets the idea to propose to Luigi, DK and Luigi decide to spend the weekend at the Mushroom Kingdom with Mario and Peach. While the three humans and DK are relaxing together, Peach (for some reason) has to be pulled away for something. Whether it's Luigi's choice or not, he accompanies Peach, which leaves Mario and DK alone together. Since DK is alone with Mario, DK tries to start the conversation by mentioning that his and Luigi’s 1-year anniversary is 3 weeks away. Mario takes a little bit to process this information and saids something along the lines of, “It has been an...interesting year for all of us, but I’m glad that you and Luigi found each other. He’s been…really happy ever since you two became friends.” Hearing this from Mario really reassures DK to the point where he then asks Mario for his blessing to marry Luigi. If Mario is surprised to hear DK's question, he doesn’t show it. It’s quiet as Mario thinks about his response (which starts to make DK nervous). About a minute later (although it feels like an eternity to DK), Mario gives DK his blessing (which is a huge relief for DK to hear). However, Mario also states that if DK hurts Luigi in any way, he (Mario) will personally send DK to the Underwhere.
Now that DK has Mario’s blessing, the next thing DK wants to do is ask his dad (Cranky Kong) for his blessing to marry Luigi. Similar to Mario, DK could just propose to Luigi without asking Cranky Kong for his blessing, but Luigi and Cranky Kong have an…interesting relationship. To be more specific, while Luigi and Cranky Kong do get along, DK knows that Luigi is also afraid of Cranky Kong (purely in the sense that a boyfriend is afraid of their girlfriend’s dad).
About 2 weeks after Mario gives DK his blessing, DK invites Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong, and Chunky Kong to hang out with him, Luigi, and Cranky Kong so that they can all spend the day together. Everyone (including Luigi and Cranky Kong) accepts DK’s invitation.
The next day, the 6 Kongs and Luigi are all hanging out together at the Jungle Kingdom. While Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong, and Chunky Kong are telling Luigi about the DK Rap (from the Donkey Kong 64 game), DK privately asks Cranky Kong if they can talk later that night. Cranky Kong agrees to DK’s request.
Later that night (after Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong, and Chunky Kong leave and after Luigi falls asleep), DK arrives at the throne room and sees Cranky Kong sitting on his throne. DK then starts talking to his dad about how his and Luigi’s 1-year anniversary is next week. DK also explains to Cranky Kong about how the past year have been both wonderful to Luigi and DK because they made each other better people (for example, DK helped Luigi become more confident and Luigi helped DK take things (like his royal duties) more seriously). Cranky Kong is quiet for a little bit, but then tells DK that he agrees with the observations DK has noticed over the past year. Seeing that he and his dad are on the same page reassures DK enough to where DK then tells his dad that he wants to marry Luigi and asks his dad for his blessing.
It’s quiet for a while (and I mean a while). Cranky Kong is not showing any emotions, which inwardly starts to worry DK. Eventually, Cranky Kong breaks the silence with a very serious, “No.” This response immediately confuses DK because he genuinely thought that Cranky Kong would give him his blessing. Cranky Kong then explains that while he does like Luigi, the #1 issue with DK’s plan is that DK is the very last heir to the Kong throne, meaning that in order to continue the Jungle Kingdom's royal bloodline, DK needs to marry a female Kong (Candy Kong).
DK and Cranky Kong’s conversation very quickly turns into an argument. DK loves Luigi and really wants to spend the rest of his life with him. Heck, DK even saids to his dad that he is willing to give up his crown for Luigi, but this makes Cranky Kong really mad because DK giving up his crown (or not marrying a female Kong to continue the royal bloodline) would give King K. Rool and his Kremling Crew the perfect opportunity to conquer the Jungle Kingdom.
DK and Cranky Kong’s argument lasts for about 10 minutes before Cranky Kong goes silent and suddenly grabs his chest. DK quickly notices this and worryingly asks, “Dad…?” DK takes a few steps towards his dad, but Cranky Kong soon falls off of his throne and onto the floor. Seeing this causes DK to cry out, “DAD!”, which leads to a Kong guard storming into the throne room. When the Kong guard sees a passed out Cranky Kong and a terrified DK, the Kong guard is quick to pick up Cranky Kong and take him to the castle hospital (with DK following closely behind).
About 1 hour later, DK is pacing back and forth in the castle hospital waiting room. So many different emotions are plaguing DK right now, but the most prominent emotions that’s plaguing DK is guilt. Luigi then arrives at the waiting room (which surprises DK), but Luigi explains to DK that a Kong guard woke him up and told him that Cranky Kong passed out. While he’s hesitant, DK confesses to Luigi that he (DK) and Cranky Kong got into a really big argument (which led to Cranky Kong passing out due to a heart attack). Luigi doesn’t ask DK what the argument was about (because he knows that DK is going through a lot right now) and instead tells DK that he wants to support DK through this difficult time however he can (which DK really appreciates). After a while, the doctor eventually enters the waiting room, but saids the following to DK and Luigi: “We did everything we could to save him, but…His Majesty is gone. I’m so sorry.” The waiting room is completely quiet for a while. So many different emotions and thoughts are rushing through DK’s head right now. Luigi asks the doctor if they can see Cranky Kong, to which the doctor saids yes. However, when Luigi and DK finally see Cranky Kong laying on the hospital bed, this is when DK finally breaks down. Luigi quietly waits outside the room to let his boyfriend grieve. While Luigi’s waiting outside of Cranky Kong’s room, he also makes the decision to stay at the Jungle Kingdom for however long he needs to so that he can help/support DK (and the Jungle Kingdom) through this very difficult time.
The next morning, Luigi and DK meet with the Jungle Kingdom’s royal court with the purpose of telling them that Cranky Kong died last night. Upon hearing this, the royal court immediately express their condolences to DK (which DK appreciates). However, this meeting eventually turns into a really big argument between the royal court and DK because as Cranky Kong mentioned to DK last night, the royal court tells DK that he is the very last heir to the Kong throne and in order to prevent King K. Rool and his Kremling Crew from taking over the Jungle Kingdom, DK needs to marry a female Kong (Candy Kong) and have a heir. Like he told Cranky Kong last night, DK tells the royal court that loves Luigi and is even willing to give up the crown so that he can spend the rest of his life with Luigi.
DK’s argument with the royal court leaves Luigi speechless. Like, really speechless and honestly torn. On the one hand, while he had never thought about it, he is open to the idea of spending the rest of his life with DK. But on the other hand, the Jungle Kingdom’s needs are much more important than Luigi’s wants. The Jungle Kingdom needs DK as their king because without DK and an heir, King K. Rool can very easily become king of the Jungle Kingdom.
Throughout that evening, DK notices how Luigi hasn’t said a single word since their meeting with the royal court. To help Luigi, DK takes Luigi to a balcony where they can sit, look up at the night sky, and quietly hide from the rest of the world. While this does somewhat help Luigi, DK can still see that there is a lot going through his boyfriend's mind right now. Eventually, Luigi tells DK about the thoughts that are running through his head, like the fact that the royal court is 100% right. Whether DK likes it or not, he is the last heir to the throne and if DK were to give up his crown for Luigi (or marry Luigi instead of a female Kong), then King K. Rool can very easily become king of the Jungle Kingdom. While he’s hesitant to say this, Luigi also tells DK that they need to break up so that DK can do what’s best for his people. DK is so torn with this. He doesn’t want to end things with Luigi at all, but deep down, he can’t let King K. Rool take over his kingdom. DK needs to do what’s best for his citizens, even if it means breaking up with the man he loves.
Now even though Luigi and DK agreed to break up, that doesn’t mean that this is easy for Luigi. In fact, the next 6 days are just devastating to Luigi. Mario tried to help Luigi the best way he can, but it's hard. Now, it's not because of Mario, but it's because after Luigi returned to the Mushroom Kingdom, he pretty much locked himself in his bedroom. During the early hours of the 7th day (i.e., the day that would've been Luigi and DK's 1-year anniversary), Luigi spontaneously decides to take a walk at a nearby park. After seeing that Mario's asleep on their living room couch, Luigi quietly leaves the house and walks to the park. Once he's there, Luigi sits down on a nearby bench, closes his eyes, and thinks.
After 10 minutes passes by, Luigi hears a familiar voice speaking to him. A very, very familiar voice. Curious on who the owner of the voice could be, Luigi slowly opens his eyes and is shock to see King Bowser Koopa standing in front of him.
Yes, after seeing Luigi sitting on the bench by himself, Bowser made the decision to attempt to make small talk with Luigi. At first, Luigi feels awkward talking to Bowser (because the last time Luigi and Bowser talked to each other was 7 months ago), but slowly and surely, he does eventually warm up to Bowser. When they both see the sun rising over the horizon, Bowser asks Luigi if he wants to continue their conversation on another day. Luigi thinks about it for a few seconds before he answers with a, "I...I would like that."
Over the course of the next 3 months, Luigi and Bowser continue to hang out at that same bench at that same park at the same time. At first, they only meet once a week for about an hour, but it’s not long (like 2-3 weeks) before it escalates into Luigi and Bowser hanging out a lot (i.e., multiple times a week). Heck, Luigi and Bowser even agreed to hang out at other locations during the day.
At the end of the third month, Luigi carefully thinks about his relationship with Bowser. At this point in the story, Luigi thinks of Bowser as a good friend. However, unbeknownst to Luigi right now, Bowser has feelings for him. (In fact, ever since they last spoke to each other in part 2, Bowser never fell out of love with Luigi.)
While Luigi's pondering about his relationship with Bowser, DK visits Luigi unannounced. Now the reason for DK’s unexpected visit is because DK has the exciting news that he (with Diddy Kong’s help) actually found a relative who can become the new ruler of the Jungle Kingdom. That Kong is named Great Aunt Grouchy (she’s an actual Nintendo character who’s also apparently still alive, I checked). With Great Aunt Grouchy willing to become the new ruler of the Jungle Kingdom, DK and Luigi can get back together. However, right at this moment, Bowser also decides to visit Luigi unannounced (because he wants to take Luigi out on a surprise date and confess his feelings for him), but all of Bowser's plans immediately go down the drain when he sees DK talking to Luigi. Both Bowser and DK kind of interrogate one another (since Bowser’s mad that DK might want Luigi back and DK's mad that Bowser is showing his face to Luigi after leading him on for 6 months), but Luigi is quick to stop things from escalating into a big argument. Luigi then explains to Bowser about what DK just told him and Luigi explains to DK about how he and Bowser have been hanging out for the past 3 months.
Now here is where Luigi faces a tough dilemma. At this point in the story, Luigi discovers that both DK and Bowser have feelings for him. While Luigi cares for both of them, he doesn’t know if he wants to be with DK or Bowser. Because of this, Luigi asks DK and Bowser to give him time to process everything. Luckily for Luigi, both DK and Bowser are fine with giving Luigi some space to figure out what he wants (since they are aware that this is a big decision for Luigi to make).
But as for whether Luigi will eventually choose Bowser or DK?
Bowuigi idea/prompt: "Bowser meets Luigi's ex, Prince Peasly. Bowser is competitive and prone to posturing when he feels insecure, so he gradually falls back into all his villain schemes and habits while trying to prove he's better than Peasly. Luigi does a similar thing with Peach."
Thank you to @pompous-old-windbag for the Bowuigi idea/prompt I provided above. While I talked about an idea that deals with Bowser being jealous of his brother/Blue Bowser in this specific post, I want to talk about the idea of Luigi feeling insecure about Bowser not being 100% over Peach.
As usual, my thoughts/ideas are listed under the cut because this is going to be a long post otherwise.
************************
So first off, I like to imagine that Luigi sees Peach as his big sister and Peach sees Luigi as her little brother (even though I’m pretty sure both Luigi and Mario are older than Peach). From their good chemistry in Mario Superstar Baseball to the fact that Peach always call Luigi by his actual name instead of insulting nicknames like “Green Mario”, “Green ‘Stache”, or just simply, “The other guy”, it’s very obvious that Luigi and Peach are canonically close friends.
So naturally, when Luigi tells Peach that he’s in a romantic relationship with a man, I like to think that Peach is very happy for Luigi. Now yes, when she finds out that Luigi is in a relationship with Bowser, her happiness is quickly replaced with much more worrisome emotions (not because of Luigi, but because she does not trust Bowser at all), but after a rather long process in which Bowser proves to Peach that he wants to stop his evil ways and become a good Koopa, Peach starts to warm up to Bowser (although, she does start to become a protective older sister to Luigi).
However, not long after Peach gives Luigi and Bowser her blessing (in the sense that she is fine with them dating because this also means that Bowser will stop kidnapping her), things kind of...start to go south for Luigi.
To be more specific, Luigi starts having this feeling that Bowser might not be completely over Peach. Just to name a few things Luigi noticed over the course of his relationship with Bowser:
When they first started dating, Bowser gave Luigi his own private room made just for him. However, Luigi soon realizes that his room is in fact Peach’s old room back when Bowser constantly kidnapped her (just with a green/dark green color scheme instead of a pink color scheme).
Before Bowser gave Luigi personalized nicknames (such as "my little green bean"), Bowser gave Luigi cute and generic nicknames such as “my love” and “my sweet”. However, Luigi soon finds out that Bowser gave Peach the exact same generic nicknames back when he constantly kidnapped her.
Bowser would shower Luigi with a lot of wonderful gifts (clothes, books, and other things Luigi likes). However, the very big catch to this is that either Bowser or someone else would accidentally mess up the gift to where it’s a combination of things both Luigi and Peach like. For example, Bowser would give Luigi a book (since Luigi loves to read), but the genre of the book is Peach’s favorite genre, not Luigi’s favorite genre. Another example would be that Bowser would give Luigi a really nice outfit, but the fashion designer who made the outfit made the outfit pink (Peach's favorite color) instead of green/dark green (Luigi's favorite color).
To kind of add on to the previously bullet point, once a month, Bowser would take Luigi on vacation to a location that Luigi has never been to before. However, the locations aren't completely new in the sense that both Peach and Bowser also went to these exact same locations during the timeframe that Bowser constantly kidnapped Peach. Isle Delfino from Super Mario Sunshine is a great example of this because:
a) Peach has been to Isle Delfino while Luigi has never been to Isle Delfino and coincidentally
b) Peach was kidnapped by Bowser Jr. (and technically Bowser since Bowser told Junior that Peach was his mother) during her stay at Isle Delfino.
Early on in Luigi and Bowser's relationship, the royal chefs made Peach’s favorite food for Luigi because Bowser genuinely thought that since Luigi and Peach are both humans, they must like the same type of food.
One time early on in Luigi and Bowser's relationship (like 1-2 months after they started dating), Bowser misremembered Luigi & Peach's birthdays and accidentally celebrated Luigi's birthday on Peach’s actual birthday.
Now, in Bowser’s defense, he’s not doing any of this intentionally. This is the first relationship Bowser's been in where his feelings are 100% mutual and he just wants to show Luigi how much he loves him.
But at the same time though…it’s not fair to Luigi. For as long as Luigi can remember, he was never anyone’s first choice. From friends to almost his entire family (who are not supposed to pick favorites), Luigi always felt like...an afterthought.
And even though Bowser is genuinely trying to be the best boyfriend he can be, his actions are causing Luigi to feel really insecure about himself and his entire relationship with the King of the Koopas.
Especially because of this one pertinent question Luigi can't help but wonder.
After everything they have gone through to become an official couple, why are all of Bowser's romantic gestures still indirectly related to Princess Peach in some way/shape/form?
I get Luigi's feelings. They are valid and I would feel the same.
But the travelling part it will be hard. Tell me a place Bowser didn't took Peach or that Peach herself went?
Both as royals would had visited a lot of kingdoms Luigi wouldn't. So one way or another there was a chance Bowser kidnapped Peach there because both were there for the same Royal event.
That's fair. Bowser kidnapped Peach so many times in so many locations that it would be really difficult for him to find a location that either:
a) Peach has never been to or
b) A location that Peach has been to, but Bowser didn't kidnap Peach at that said location.
And Luigi does initially understand this. Luigi knows the number of times Bowser kidnapped Peach and is aware that eventually, Bowser is going to take him to a location that Peach has already been to and/or a location where Bowser kidnapped Peach.
However, I didn't explain this well enough in my original post (and I apologize for that), but in terms of his and Bowser's vacations, the thing that would upset Luigi is that as he starts noticing everything else Bowser did and is still doing up to this point in their relationship (i.e., giving Luigi the same generic nicknames he gave to Peach, giving Luigi gifts that are a combination of things both Luigi and Peach like, and giving Luigi Peach's old room), that's when it occurs to a now insecure Luigi that almost every location he and Bowser went to for vacation (as a couple) has some type of connection with Peach (whether Bowser kidnapped her at that specific location or not).
Angsty AU or something, I guess. Please excuse me, I am still very new to the Bowuigi community 😭
I read one of your posts and a thought came to my mind. This one is a little cruel and one-sided, but hear me out. Bowser starts to date Luigi only to get under Mario's skin-he does not love Luigi that much compared to Luigi's love for him.
And one day, while Luigi was doing something, he somehow managed to overhear Bowser's conversation with his troops/Kamek about the whole thing- "I never loved him in the first place, anyways. Sure, he's cute, but, if I were to be honest, he's more of a trophy to me."
Ooo, I see your angsty Bowuigi idea and I will respond with some questions/potential ideas I have:
Is Bowser only trying to get under Mario’s skin or is being in a relationship with Mario’s younger twin brother step 1 of Bowser’s new plan of taking over the Mushroom Kingdom?
If Bowser's dating Luigi just to annoy Mario (and doesn’t have any plans of conquering the Mushroom Kingdom at all), how far/long would Bowser be willing to go along with this plan? It’s one thing for Bowser to break up with Luigi after dating him for a few months, but if Bowser dates Luigi for a while (say, 1 or 2 years), there's a possibility that Luigi will ask Bowser for his hand in marriage. And if Luigi does propose to Bowser, would Bowser say yes (which would really get under Mario's skin) or would Bowser reject Luigi's marriage proposal (and maybe even break up with him) right then and there?
Adding on to the previous bullet point, if Bowser says yes to Luigi's marriage proposal, one angsty idea I have is the idea of Bowser leaving Luigi at the alter on their wedding day.
What will Luigi do when he discovers that Bowser never loved him? Sure, he can try to confront Bowser about what he overheard, but if Bowser wants to keep dating Luigi for as long as possible (just to get under Mario's skin), my guess is that Bowser will deny Luigi’s accusations. If that's the case, would Luigi have the courage to break up with Bowser right then and there?
You could mix in another level of angst if Bowser really DID fall for him. He was only supposed to date the guy for a few weeks! But around date three Bowser started to catch feelings, and around month four or so all the dates were genuine.
However, Kamek is not informed of this change, and Bowser is stubbornly refusing to tell anyone in the Koopa Kingdom about his real intentions. A mixture of embarrassment and a potential lack of approval. I mean, this guy isn’t royalty. More importantly, he’s a Mario Brother.
Kamek catches on anyway - all the Koopa Kingdom does - but goes too long begrudgingly following orders. It is when there’s an engagement that Kamek has to put his foot down.
Bowser is stubborn as ever. B-but marriage is all part of the plan! “I never loved him in the first place anyway! Sure, I’ll admit I find him cute, but he’s more like… a trophy! He’s a trophy to me.”
This is the moment Luigi overhears.
It does take Luigi days to process. Bowser notices his fiancé has become distant. His talkative little Luigi falls back to how he was when they were once strangers - quiet. Bowser, who has always been quick to assume things, decides Luigi must be so nervous about the wedding! Bowser plans a date to soothe Luigi’s nerves.
Luigi went to visit his brother, which is when Bowser is making preparations. It is back at the safety of his old home in the Mushroom Kingdom that Luigi tells Mario. Of course he tells Mario! He tells him everything, even when Mario doesn’t approve. Mario urges him to break up with Bowser. Hell, don’t go back to the Koopa Kingdom! Mario could help him write a letter to send to Bowser. Then Mario, some of the girls, and maybe a begrudging DK could help go get Luigi’s belongings.
But no. Luigi is tempted to take that route, but he wants to look in Bowser’s eyes. Hear what lies he has to say when he doesn’t have time to think before writing back. And he wants Bowser to know - whether Bowser cares or not - how much Bowser’s fake dating scheme hurt.
Mario and Luigi travel back to the Koopa Kingdom, and Mario waits outside. Once Luigi steps through the door, Luigi is bombarded with an excited and proud-of-himself Bowser, who sweeps him off his feet and takes him on the planned date.
The date doesn’t go as planned. Luigi can’t take the lies anymore. He confronts Bowser. Throws his words back at his face. Rants about how he thought Bowser loved him, how he was so stupid to believe Bowser cared. Bowser of course tries to interrupt here and there. “But- But I- No I-“ and occasionally maybe he’s able to say something. It makes things worse. They’re lies. They’re all just lies to Luigi.
And so Luigi dumps him. And walks out. Mario is waiting for him, and they make a quick getaway in case Bowser falls back to the ‘ol kidnapping schemes.
But Bowser hadn’t moved. He’s stunned.
From there, the next few plot points are about trying to win Luigi back. Even Kamek and crew are tagged along - yes they know the truth now. Although Kamek knew for awhile and saw through Bowser’s bullshit.
However, with Luigi’s trust broken, there seems to be no budge. Bowser is desperate and falls back onto old tactics for when he likes someone but they don’t like him back. You guessed it! A classic kidnapping.
You’ll be surprised to hear this somehow works. A little. (Or makes things a lot worse if you want an unhappy ending, but I’m going with the eventual happy ending route). It’s while kidnapped that Luigi gives Bowser the silent treatment, and Bowser finally can say his peace. He tells him the truth. The real order of events. How he really felt.
They must all just be lies of course, but maybe that makes Luigi a sucker. And being sucked in he is, Luigi listens to the story thoughtfully, but there’s one detail nagging at him.
“But it was all still built on a lie?”
Whether or not the rest of the story is true, Bowser admits, to his face, that at the start of their budding relationship, yes. Yes it was a trick, and yes Bowser lied.
Despite everything, the time back at the castle does make Luigi miss Bowser more, and so while they waited for Luigi’s rescue team, they discuss the next steps forward. Yes they can date again, but the wedding is off. And Luigi is staying moved out until Bowser can earn back his trust.
When the rescue team does come, they’re surprised to see Luigi walk out willingly. Luigi goes home safely with Mario.
There’d probably be a time skip here, although showing one awkward date or a collage of dates that get increasingly less awkward isn’t a bad idea. But down the line (like one year, Luigi trusts easily) Luigi accepts another marriage proposal. And things are like how they were before, but this time with no lies.
Angsty AU or something, I guess. Please excuse me, I am still very new to the Bowuigi community 😭

The idea of someone squeezing a dry sponge hoping that a single drop of water will come out of the sponge but instead replace it with me squeezing my brain hoping that a single Bowuigi idea will come out.
So..., I've been watching & playing a lot of Mario Superstar Baseball lately and I thought of more ways Bowser would secretly help Luigi win (and I thought of a reason why Bowser would intentionally lose).
Counting this as a sequel to this Bowuigi Mario Party post I made a while ago.
The #1 reason why Bowser intentionally loses: After Bowser and Luigi start dating, Luigi tells Bowser the story of how he has never won a single game/race/etc. From tennis to soccer to even Mario Kart, every single sporting or party event Luigi has participated in, he has never won 1st place. While that had upset Luigi in the past, he eventually stopped being competitive and changed his mindset to, “As long as I’m having fun, it doesn’t matter whether I win or lose.” However, Luigi's story causes Bowser to set himself out on a mission to intentionally lose any/every event he participates in just so that Luigi can experience the amazing feeling of winning 1st place.
Okay, now let's talk about the different ways Bowser will let Luigi win (see under the cut because this will be a long post otherwise):
1. Baseball:
If Bowser's pitching and Luigi's batting, Bowser will pitch the ball as normally as possible.
If Bowser's batting and Luigi's pitching, Bowser will either try to strike himself out by "unintentionally" missing every pitch Luigi throws at him, "unintentionally" hit a pop fly, or when he does hit the ball, he will use his slowness to his advantage and purposely run slow to where he can easily get out.
When it comes to other characters (Mario, Peach, Daisy, etc.), Bowser will act less suspicious by giving it his all (although he will occasionally do one of the methods mentioned above).
2. Tennis:
Bowser will "unintentionally" hit the ball hard enough to where it lands outside the line.
Since Bowser can't run very fast, he will use this slowness to his advantage and will "unintentionally" miss the ball (assuming the ball isn't directly near him).
If the ball if coming towards Bowser, Bowser will sometimes (not very often) let the ball hit him.
3. Golf:
Bowser will "unintentionally" hit the ball hard enough to where it either goes out of bounce or it misses the hole.
Bowser can also hit the ball too softly, but considering that it's Bowser, he'll usually hit the ball too hard.
4. Soccer pt 1 (Super Mario Strikers):
Since Bowser is not a playable character in Super Mario Strikers, the only way he can really help Luigi out is by wreaking havoc to where it puts Luigi's opponents at a disadvantage and puts Luigi at an advantage (somehow).
Since Bowser is a playable character in Mario Strikers Charged & Mario Strikers: Battle League, Bowser can help Luigi out in multiple ways:
Mario Strikers Charged: Bowser has terrible movement & passing abilities. Bowser will use this to his advantage to either "unintentionally" pass the ball to where either Luigi or one of his teammates can easily steal the ball during a pass or run slow enough to where Luigi/one of his teammates can directly steal the ball from Bowser (while he has possession of the ball).
Mario Strikers Charged: Even though Bowser can shoot really well, when it comes to Mega Strike, Bowser will "unintentionally" have terrible timing.
Mario Strikers: Battle League: Since it's been years since I've played Battle League, I'm going to assume that Bowser can more or less use the same tactics from Mario Strikers Charged.
6. Mario Kart:
If Luigi's in 2nd place and Bowser's in 1st place, Bowser will "unintentionally" give Luigi the lead by hitting a hazard (fake item box, banana peel, etc.)
If Luigi's in 1st place, Bowser will "unintentionally" use his items (red shells, green shells, blue spiny shell, etc.) on every single racer except for Luigi.
