I love when those kind of posts cross my dashboard!
Despite some newer claims, it's important to remember where "from the river to the sea" come from:
On August 2, 1948, the New York Times, hardly a Zionist mouthpiece, reported that “Sheikh Hassan el-Bana, head of the Moslem Brotherhood, largest of the extremist Arab nationalist organizations, declared in an interview today: ‘If the Jewish state becomes a fact, and this is realized by the Arab peoples, they will drive the Jews who live in their midst into the sea.’”
It's also a good chance to remind you that jews in north-Africa also suffered during the holocaust, and some were sent to the concentration and death camps.
Iirc, there was a transport from Algeria, and maybe Libya? But those two DEFINITELY had inside concentration camps, force work, and general jew-slaughter.
I remember stories about how people kept go-bags in there homes. Not really sure where they planned to go, or didn't plan probably, but I remember I was in 2nd grade and packed and kept my own go-bag in my room.
(idk if it was something the Jewish-community leaders said, or just aspects of being Jewish and always prepare for the worst - bc it would come.) I do remember reading an autobiography that stated discussions about "if the Nazis will get us, should we kill ourselves and the kids or let them take us?"
Funny enough, I hear some similar discussions know. There are many statements from ppl who were in the massacre area during the first days about abuse and torture of the deceased. So. Never again?
For another list, feel free to read (what started as) a poem (and turned into a list of pogroms and such, as I fell down this rabbit hole.)
"Leave our country alone!"
they say
"This isn't your land -
go back to where you came from!"
And as my brother's being shoot,
And my sister
