Cast-Irons Stairs — The New York Life Insurance CO.'s Building, Minneapolis, MN.

The suspended, double-helix masterpiece that rose inside the lobby of the former New York Life Insurance Building in Minneapolis was so much more than a staircase— it was an architectural work of art!

Designed by the architectural firm of Babb, Cook & Willard, this might be the finest lobby we've ever laid eyes, past or present.

Villa Wilmer / Tränenburg (1890 - 1971)

After the heirs of Friedrich Willmers sold their villa to Hannoversche Industries in 1970, it was immediately scheduled for demolition for the purpose of building new apartment - which now has turn into a parking lot!
