[JUST MAYBE] THE EXPANSE REFERENCE IN DXMD
I, as a geek both of DX and The Expanse series, saw a little Easter Egg about the Expanse in DXMD the first time I ever saw the whole game. But I waited. I thought: cāmon, DX community is so wide and there are a lot of geeks so soon people will write about it. And I waited. And waitedā¦. Anyway, today when I was replaying DXMD I met this reference again, searched it again and didnāt find it on the net. Maybe Iām just not too observing, but I have to write about it.
Remember Jensen asking Koller about his hidden augs? Here is the piece of their dialogue:
Koller: I specialize in Chinese black market, OK? The shit I found hidden inside you, spliced into your system like that, looks to me like itās from MARS, man!
Jensen: Iām pretty sure theyāre not from Mars.
Letās bring it up: the Expanse geeks, the ones who watched the TV series probably know that Elias Toufexis (the voice of Adam Jensen) takes a recurrent second plan role in the 1st season in the episodes 6-10 as Kenzo Gabriel ā a Tycho spy. These 5 episodes came out in the beginning of 2016, and DXMD ā in autumn. Moreover, there is an interview with Elias which says about his participation in The Expanse TV-series (here it is, if you are curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6xxV_2_6j8 ). All in all, knowing the love of geeky Easter eggs of the dev team, this could take place as a good reference. BUT the ruining everything thing is that the game had been in development for a long timeā¦ But what if they just put it thereā¦Just putā¦Just for fun at least, no?
Ok, what Mars has to do with that? In the Expanse universe one of the main, how to say it simply, sides in the whole plot is Mars, to be more specific ā the Martians. Their technology is considered to be the most advanced in the galaxy.
So now, you do the math. Ā Elias Jensen Gabriel meets the Mars again in the hidden shiny peculiar enhancements of his.
Also, I would refuse to believe that this was just the manner of speech. I want to believe that this is the real reference - like they jumped back to the future and did their evil geeky references.
ANYWAY, Iām relieved now. My consciousness is clear. And I think now I wouldnāt care if someone wrote about this before.
AND if eventually, IT WAS just a manner of speech (which has 90% chance to be true), we can āheadcanonā it, yeah.
