“Dude, come on!” Rosalind pressed herself against the closed door, speaking a little too loudly. “I brought wine, let me in. Don’t make me spend the evening alone.”

“why not? can’t handle being alone or something?” she rolled her eyes and with an ugh, she finally got herself off the couch before making her way to the door and opening it up to see rosalind waiting. a small smile was brought to her lips, but she also gave a shake of her head. “did you really miss me that much? i wasn’t even gone for a long time.”

although a lack of customers at the shop was never entirely ideal, emerson did always try his best to take advantage of the emptiness for himself. he could proudly say he’d read at least the first ten pages of each of the books on the shelves, thanks to short, but valuable free time in between cafe duties. sitting back in his chair, the male held a novel in one hand and a mug of coffee in the other. he alternated between flipping pages every now and then and taking small sips of his drink - multitasking these particular tasks together was something he’d seamlessly mastered by now. his reading, though, was cut short by the ring of a bell which indicated someone new had entered. startled, emerson jumped in his seat slightly, his coffee splashing over the pages of his book as well as parts of his clothes. “god damn it,” he muttered to himself before setting his mug and novel down at the table in front of him and standing up from his seat. meeting the eyes of another customer, emerson wore a sheepish smile and gave a small shrug. “i promise i’m a PROFESSIONAL.”

it wasn't often ivory would randomly show up to a coffee shop, but after being away from san francisco, she wanted to do something more relaxing for once. and figured stopping by at an area like this was suitable enough. her eyes glanced around the moment she entered the place, but what mainly caught her eye was the man with a very recent coffee stain on his shirt. “that’s a bit hard to believe,” she said bluntly, approaching him more as she crossed her arms. “shouldn’t employees always look presentable? and possibly ready to help out a customer?” ivory could have been a bit more judgmental and harsher than usual, but she didn’t care that much. taking a seat close to him, the girl placed her elbow on top of the table and her hand on top of her palm. “anyway, do you have any suggestions on what i should order?”
