I donât really expect to get DELETED but...
guys the democrats losing the senate isnât a sign of anyone failing. the senate is stacked towards conservatives anyways, and it needs to be changed. or abolished. weâre sweeping the house, thatâs the body of government that represents the will of the people because representation is proportionate to population. donât be upset about the senate. we did it, we stood up and we voted, against gerrymandering, against voter suppression, against ill-equipped polls, we went out and we spoke out and no one should see this as a loss because itâs not.Â
Conservatives all over the internet are bawling right now that the House now can (and will) completely block Trumpâs wall and many of his other plans, so yes, big and very important victory last night that happened because tons and tons of you voted this time.
The senate was always a long shot. The House, though? Committees, investigative panels, blocking Trumpâs bull? Even if Mueller is fired, the House can rehire him (assuming he doesnât just dump everything out to the press as soon as heâs fired, because why not at that point) and weâre no worse off. I know itâs kind of mocked whenever someone cites geeky references to relate to real-world politics, but honestly - this is Gandalf the White showing up and saying âI come back to you now at the turn of the tide.â The jobâs not done yet, but itâs what we needed.
So eat that ice cream, down the celebratory drink, etc. And tomorrow we get back to work because thereâs still a lot to do.

Smash Bros announcement that features a fighting game character? OF COURSE I GOTTA MAKE A COMIC ABOUT IT!
The point of voting blue in 2018 isnât to make the US perfect. We cannot accomplish that in one fell swoop. Thereâs gerrymandering, voter apathy, voter suppression, and generations of older party-line fucks we have to deal with.
Voting blue in 2018 is to make it less immediately threatening for PoC, LGBT+ people, the disabled, and any other marginalized demographic. Itâs a stopgap against Republicans who are aligned with Nazis, white supremacists, and sexual abusers.
Correcting politics in the United States is going to take decades of new voters staying on top of politics and not falling prey to apathy, like our predecessors.Â
People telling you not to waste a vote on 3rd Party this midterm arenât saying ânever vote 3rd party.â Republicans have united behind one utterly heinous front. We need to unite behind Democrats, for the time being.
Repeating this key sentence:
âVoting blue in 2018 is to make it less immediately threatening for PoC, LGBT+ people, the disabled, and any other marginalized demographic [WOMEN]. Itâs a stopgap against Republicans who are aligned with Nazis, white supremacists, and sexual abusers.â
Reblogging in the memory of everyone who said to me, 2 years ago, âhow much damage can he do?â and âitâs like choosing the lesser of two evilsâ and âyouâre overreactingâ and âhe wonât get elected itâll never happenâ.
Time to save yourself. #VoteBlue
KIDS! In the US and elsewhere⌠older generations will use you as a prop but will work against making the world better for you, again and again. GET OUT THERE AND VOTE!
Please! Voting is super important and a right we need to make sure weâre using! Thereâs even early voting going on now so you can get it out of the way before November 6th!
https://www.ballotready.org if youâre confused or unsure of who or what youâre voting for, this site can help!
Remember, voting isnât a test. You can bring in your answers ahead of time and just copy down what you wrote at home! Â
Iâve been having better luck with https://ballotpedia.org/ for issues and candidates in my area. You might check both, if something seems unhelpful or incomplete on one of them.
Seeing some people on Tumblr still bitching about how itâs too late for voting and the only thing that will fix things is revolution.
How about you fucking vote anyway? Itâs not going to seriously cut into your âsitting on the couch waiting for a revolution to startâ time.
Thereâs no ânone of the aboveâ option here. You want a revolution, fine, but thereâs still little shit to do in the meantime.
You can vote AND protest. Theyâre not exclusive. Hell, you can even protest the person you voted for when they fuck up. Youâre not signing a blood oath with your ballot. But a desire for an ideologically pure candidate or nothing only serves the status quo right now.
#voting for someone and then immediately protesting the person you voted for is the only moral decision actually

military worship in this country is out of fucking control
excuse me?
military worship in this country is out of fucking controlÂ
Yea youâre right, we shouldnât honor the people willing to risk their life to save ours and defend our country ⌠oh
Military worship in this country is out of fucking control
Iâm in the military and yes itâs out of fucking control. Most of the people I know in the military feel the same way. You civilians need to calm the fuck down. Most of us joined in our teens or early twenties. For a lot of us it was because we needed a job, and we didnât see any other options, and this job has good benefits, especially for an uneducated young person in America. We get healthcare and education!! Thatâs some tempting fucking fruit. But this is a JOB. Some people in the military become heroes, thatâs true. Jumping on grenades, defusing bombs, dragging a wounded person from the middle of a firefight. They usually end up dead in the process. Those people deserve respect, in my opinion. They give their lives for their friends, no matter whether or not you agree with the policies that put them there in the first place. But a lot of people in America reflexively claim that everyone in the military is a hero, full stop. This isnât true and it lets people look the other way when something is actually wrong in the military, because itâs the military, theyâre heroes, they can do no wrong.
Weâre doing a job, and a lot of us are never really put in harmâs way. I work in a climate controlled lab for 8 hours a day, for instance. Really grueling. Such a hero. This fawning lip service of an infallible military doesnât do us any good. I know people who have bought into it, who have heard so many people tell them that theyâre heroes that they actually believe it, and they are the stupid and dangerous ones. Joining the military does not make you a hero, and calling us heroes might make you feel all warm and fluffy and red white and blue but it doesnât do anything for the people that end up on the streets with PTSD or come home with life-changing injuries or in a box. Weâre human beings, not some concept that you can just mindlessly adulate and then feel better about yourself.

oh boy just in time for the 4th of July
Speaking as a disabled veteran: itâd be one thing if the fucking hero worship MEANT ANYTHING. But itâs a bunch of empty loud words about how Brave and Noble everyone in the military is (nah some of us are assholes) and then when it comes to, oh I donât know, paying a soldier enough to feed their family without food stamps, or giving disability compensation without a NIGHTMARE fight with the country that claims to âcareâ so much. Plus the whole âsending us off to kill other people to make rich men richer while innocents die for itâ thing. Itâs not âdefending freedomâ to shove our troops into everyoneâs business in countries that happen to have oil and such Military worship isnât only annoying, itâs a hollow lie thatâs basically dangerous to everyone
Military worship is a huge political propaganda. I was a military kid and grew up surrounded by active duty personnel on military bases. In a family of five we still had to get food stamps and suffered financially. But hey, at least my parents are âheroesâ , my dad fixed the engines on military trucks and my mom did paperwork. Itâs a job, theyâre not wearing capes. If you want to make a difference for a veteran look into organizations that helps those with PTSD and homelessness. Blowing extra fireworks and parades wont help.
