Tbh biggest issues with the Corruption discipline as presented are

-Dominate has some powers here that seem too similar conceptually (Apathy, particularly)

-purely aesthetic: the name doesn’t sound like a VtM discipline. I know it’s that it’s based on the Thaumaturgy Path of Corruption. Something like Besmirch, Suborn, or Vitiate* would work better than Corruption in my humble onion.

*Struck through on account of the Bekaak’s signature discipline in VtR. I still think that idea was neat.

Oh, and the Tzimisce disciplines should probably be Auspex, Tellurgy, Vicissitude if they want to give them Tellurgy (which reads like it’s some combination of bits Chimerstry + some Animalism-adjacent stuff + frankly, really, Koldunic sorcery). That feels like it makes the most sense? Plus lets the Old Clan distinction make any damn sense.

‘Giovanni’ having Auspex seems odd, but, surely, they will be Hecata generally and not Giovanni specifically

Ravnos having Presence irks me. Their disciplines should probably be Fortitude, Obfuscate, Tellurgy, yes? That makes more sense? with context that isn’t just V5 in mind?

Tremere having possible in-clan access to Necromancy is Sinister & Wrong. Should perhaps only be an option for Telyavs. Oh, huh. I guess Telyavs might have. Tellurgy instead of Thaumaturgy (well, Blood Sorcery). If I’m right on the Tellurgy has bits of Koldunism front + Telyavs were specifically able to learn Koldunic sorcery via their branch of Thaum. Hm. Oh, well. Telyavs are weird and probably not relevant.

Melding Animalism & Protean is Bizarre to me, as is, frankly, not giving the Salubri Tellurgy in place of Obfuscate [and then have some of their Valeren* in there]. Partially because, if they’re reorganizing disciplines for clans like this, giving Ventrue the option for, VtR style, Animalism in place of Presence was a very distinct option that I think may have served this well. Partially because I think Gangrel should not have in-clan access to both Celerity & Fortitude.**

*though, I suppose giving Tzimisce & Ravnos in-clan access to this would be odd, but it wouldn’t be…wholly unreasonable tbh, when they’re reorganizing stuff like this. If Tellurgy’s reading vaguely adjacent to Koldunic sorcery [which may just be a me-problem] + Sielanic thaumaturgy + etc, the clan the Tremere grabbed blood from and the clan they devoured both having it could be. Neat.

**I think a more elegant way to handle this, if they want Gangrel Celerity on the table, is to make the City Gangrel antitribu not strictly a Sabbat bloodline, is to have those be more widespread. This gets made weird with the melding of Animalism & Protean [which is just a bad decision to me]. I guess they may have those just replace Fortitude with Obfuscate in V6 [if they’re even around at all, but the vibe seems more open to stuff like that than V5 ever did]. Hm. Maybe just make Gangrel pick between Celerity & Fortitude. They have Lasombra pick between Oblivion & Corruption, and they have Tzimisce pick between Vicissitude & Tellurgy

I think a good summation of my thoughts is “I like some of what we’re doing here better than V5*, but. What Are We Doing Here?”

I think they took the larger shift from V20 to V5 (as compared to Revised to V20) to mean that there needed to be a large overhaul on systems if they were doing a new edition. Which I just think is a mistake. Or, is unnecessary, at least. I think this should have been closer to a Revised edition of V5. Even if that nomenclature would have probably gotten confusing.

*V5 was my actual intro, and there is a lot of stuff I like in it and about it. I feel the need to say this because I know I am not kind to it when I talk about it. It frustrates me, and I think it threw babies out with the bath water. It is not The Devil; it is just not really for me; I was hoping it would become something better than it was.

It seems that part of the reason for these shifts is to make a better chassis for Mage (and possibly Changeling). I hope these things are good. Or, at least complicated and not just bad.

The first run was five hardbacks of progressively increasing girth. The stack is hefty, but the books are comfortable. Each chapter has chapter art too, which I consider a plus in all fantasy books.

Later runs were single-book softcover monstrosities. I think I saw another five-volume hardback run recently, but I’m not deeply involved in the fandom anymore.

Ok, I Kind of hate that I know this, but I’m pretty sure that anon’s teacher did NOT write the books the others are showing off. He wrote the darker, edgier and somehow even longer fanfic OF that fanfic called Project Horizons.

Original Fallout Equestria was written by someone known as Kkat who I’m 90% sure is a woman and the story only has some PG-13ish scenes at worst (you know, aside from the violence and gore that comes with a Fallout setting.) Project Horizons was written by a guy known as Somber, who I remember him mentioning in the post-chapter notes that he got fired for failing the wrong student once and the fic itself includes multiple explicit sex scenes.
