Welcome to Jackals’ Rest!

My name is Pan and this is where I post my art, writings, musings, things I like, etc.

Imma be posting a lot of WIPs, some genuine completed pieces, old art, character sheets and concepts- it’s all going on here.

You may even see some storyboarding for my comic project: Everlost

Everlost is an upcoming comic series about cults, organized crime, and a town that doesn’t exist on any map- all shrouded in the dense mists of Appalachia’s forests.

Expect a lot of those characters to make frequent appearances. Because they occupy 99% of my brain.

I don’t know how building a platform for your art works and at this point I’m just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. Tips and tricks of the trade appreciated. Please send me messages and ask me things they genuinely make my day. :]

Has anyone else had a childhood like mine? Growing up the weird ndv kid from a rural community in a red state, yes— but beyond that, being both weird enough that people were either scared of you/shunned you- but not enough to outwardly bully or hurt you? Like people were polite to you, but outside of one or two friends- everyone else would rather just not interact with you.

I wasn’t aggressive or anything and was mostly quiet and kept to myself. Outside of maybe having a biting way of speaking, that good ol’ 2x4 of blunt autistic honesty.

I just wanna know if anyone else also inherited The Aura of Intimidation™️? I still have it to this day even when I think I’m masking.

I decided to do a little drawing challenge to myself and do as many Everlost character portraits on one piece of paper as I could.

And boys after like a year or two of drawing digitally, drawing traditionally again??? Pain. Just pain. The loop and scale tools have spoiled me.

There’s actually a lot of history regarding the development writing systems and why there are different visual representations of numerals, but the short answer is: it’s regional, and you probably picked up how to make your numbers look based on your parents or your primary school teachers

I do it out of spite because in grade school a kids detective story identified the culprit by saying NO American wrote their sevens with a line and I thought that was super flimsy evidence and it made me so mad I started putting a line through my sevens so the fictional detective would be wrong and then kept doing it for several decades since.

I do this because I saw a girl in school do it once and thought it was cool, so I started doing it. Same reason I give my 2s the weird loopy tail at the bottom.
