Mary Oliver’s instructions for living a life.
Today’s movie tip is The Lady In The Van. The true story of Miss Shepherd, an eccentric woman of uncertain origins, who `temporarily' parked her broken-down van in writer Alan Bennett's London driveway, and proceeded to live there for the next 15 years.
ouch!
FOMO: Fear of missing out describes when a person feels increased anxiety or stress from missing out on social events or not having been invited to attend in the first place. FOMO feelings are typically amplified for frequent visitors of social networking sites like Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat, where users see a continual stream of pictures, videos and comments of parties, events, outings or other life activities that they may not have been invited to or able to attend.
To pop the question: to propose marriage to someone. "Bob popped the question to John last night and he said yes, they are getting married on May, 25th."
Casualty is a person killed or injured in a war or accident: "The casualty war shows the nature of a political conflict."
To have a crush on somebody: you’re attracted to somebody and would like them to be more than just your friend.
Go out (with) — To go on a date with someone. “Sarah was so happy when Peter finally asked her to go out with him!”
Debacle: a sudden and ignominious failure; a fiasco.: "the economic debacle that became known as the Great Depression"
KEEP BEING YOU
In the 28th century, special operatives Valerian and Laureline work together to maintain order throughout the human territories. Under assignment from the minister of defense, the duo embarks on a mission to Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis where diverse species gather to share knowledge and culture.
Annoying
Today it's an exaggerated way to say "to get married".
Carton is a light box or container, typically one made of waxed cardboard or plastic in which drinks or foodstuffs are packaged: "Sand also drank her small carton of milk, which had gotten a bit warm since she had been handed it."
Booze means alcohol, especially hard liquor: "they turn to booze to beat work pressure" Also it means to drink alcohol, especially in large quantities: "Michael is trying to quit boozing"
Give up — To stop trying, surrender. “After two weeks of trying to build my own table, I gave up and just bought one.”
