i dont mean this as a criticism because i am having fun, but im reading her majesty’s royal coven and the whole “the reason this boy is so good at magic is because she’s a girl actually” is an a+ story concept. but it does technically imply that i as a trans man could be piss poor at magic and being transgender is my get out of jail free card, and im having a really good laugh with that. trans warlocks would invent an even more insufferable “i cant drive im gay”
not to be a joyless hag but I've started seeing genderbent "yuri" shipping Markiplier and Ryan Gosling and I can't help but think of someone I recently I unfollowed for posting that they have an easier time caring about genderbent versions of boy characters than regular fictional women
and I'm also building some connections to that post I made about reading books by Black women (you know the one) and the people who would respond by saying something akin to "joke's on you, I only read fanfic 😜" as if that were some kind of clever loophole and not a demonstration of the exact thing I was talking about

I feel certain I've seen it referenced in American media but actually thinking about it I can only think of British and Australian examples.
We certainly don't play it under that name but perhaps we play it under a different one. Is it a game where you pass an object around a circle and when the music stops or some other events happens, the one left holding the object is Out? I learned it as Hot Potato
It's a game in which you pass a paper-wrapped object around a circle and when the music stops or some other event happens, the person holding it removes one layer of wrapping paper. Repeat until the last layer of wrapping paper is removed and the person holding the object at that point gets to keep it.
The standard version is winner-takes-all, but I've also seen a version played at small children's birthday parties where there's a small prize between each layer of wrapping paper and exactly as many prizes as party guests, and the person in control of stopping the music makes sure that every person gets one go at removing a wrapping and claiming a prize.
