Trepidation
Steve was being followed. The air around him was sticky with the feeling of being watched. He could’ve been paranoid; the kind of trepidation that burrows into bones. But he couldn’t afford to take the gamble —he’d accrued a lot of enemies, so few friends.
Down the block, halfway to the grocery store, the sky threatened rain; like the clouds knew something he didn’t. Hands shoved deep in his pockets, he glanced over his shoulder. Nothing looked out of place on the city street. (Not New York, not DC—something smaller and sleepier in which he was hoping people could forget his face. It wasn’t home, but it was somewhere to lay low.)
Evidently not, though, because someone was definitely tailing him. Thunder rolled and Steve wondered if he shouldn’t have come out today at all; but he had this horrible habit of waiting until there was no food left in his apartment before he bothered remedying the situation.
On edge, only picking up the essentials, he kept his head down, kept his face off the cameras, paid with cash—he was never there. A ghost.
On his walk home, he saw it. The flash of a black jacket ducking into an alley. It was only a flicker of a motion, something so quick he could have imagined it. Steve faltered a step before deciding, against his better judgement, to go after it. (It could have been anyone, but he knew who he wanted it to be.)
He peeked down the alley. Confronting his shadow; A figure stood with his hood up, leaning nonchalantly against the side of the building. The sky opened up and frigid rain spit down.
Steve’s heart thudded to a painful halt, because he recognized the way the figure moved. He’d know him anywhere.
“Hi, Buck,” Steve said, hesitating in the mouth of the alley.
The figure froze.
“You doin’ okay?” Steve tried again.
Silence, but he’d turned so Steve could see his apprehensive face. Cautious. Defensive. Tired.
If Bucky was trying to kill him, he would have already. Steve was alone, after all. (Always fucking alone.)
Steve swallowed. “You could come back with me—get out of the rain?” What he wanted to convey was more along the lines of, ‘please, I’ve been looking for you. I’ve been running, too. Let’s go home.’
Steve took a few steps closer only for Bucky to match his movement with a step back.
The last thing Steve wanted to do was corner him, but Bucky’s back was to the chain link fence. And before he could ask if Bucky was hungry, or cold, if he needed anything, he’d taken off—disappeared into the foggy, gray morning.
It killed him, thinking it would be this way forever— that Bucky would always be a fingertip’s-breadth too far to reach. What killed him most of all, though, was the way it didn’t feel like an accident. If he’d seen Bucky—Bucky had wanted to be seen.
wow, okay. this broke my heart into a million and one pieces 💔
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (2021) | Truth
The imagery of this scene with the lighting and everything was just... *chef's kiss* 😘👌
Not people crying about how Ayo taking Bucky’s arm off was disrespectful and violating. Why do y’all always paint this man as someone who gets war flashbacks every time something happens to him? He’s lived without an arm how long in wakanda?
Disrespectful and violating is not handling over the man who hurt their people by killing their former king due to your own agendas.
He’s lucky she didn’t pick it up and leave with it.
I actually thought that Ayo was SO done with Bucky and his sh*t that she was going to up and leave with it. Honestly, Bucky would have deserved it for disrespecting the Dora and the Wakandans.
John Walker about Steve:he feels like a brother
Bucky:you ever helped that punk breath though a asthma attack?
Bucky:ever stuck by his side when his mother died?
Bucky:ever set him up on a date so he wouldn't be alone?!
Bucky:ever be there for him when no one else would?!
Bucky:no? I thought so. Now sit your bitch ass back the fuck down.
boyfriends™️
give me 1 good reason why these two can’t canonically be boyfriends. They freakin’ dress the same and they look damn good doing it!
Do you hear how his voice wobbles and cracks around the words “he was wrong about me”?
That line killed me.
Why are you making such a big deal out of something that has nothing to do with you?
This scene made me so emotional...💔😭
After the WS, Bucky never believed that he was a good man. Definitely not the way that Steve did. And now that Bucky is alone in this new world, he feels like there’s no one else who will believe in him that same way (and that probably means that he feels his life has lost its meaning).
Except Sam. Sam is Bucky’s last hope.
You can see his desperation so clearly in the 4th gif. Bucky is literally begging Sam to believe in himself, because if Sam can believe in himself as much as Steve did, then that means Sam believes in Bucky as well.
It’s not the act of jumping on the grenade that makes you worthy.
It’s the selflessness behind the act that does.
after watching episode 2, all I feel is rage and pain, thanks Marvel
@bucky-plums-barnes
I actually cried as the credits rolled.
(mostly because of what Bucky said about if Steve was wrong about Sam then he was wrong about Bucky too 💔😭)
man, Bucky just deserves some gd happiness in his life. why did they have to take Steve away from him 😩
also rage doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel about knock-off Cap. Steve would be punching through his grave if he knew what was happening.
Y’all, I’m about to watch the second episode of FATWS and let me tell you I have never been this nervousness or anxious about watching a TV show before.
I’m just worried about where it may go and that they won’t do the Bucky & Sam relationship justice. At this point, I’m so invested in these characters and I just don’t want to be disappointed like I was after End Game with Steve & Bucky.
side note: the existence of a store brand Cap really grinds my gears and I’ve literally only seen 5 seconds of him. THE DISRESPECT!

I have a question. What do you call these three things? They have different names depending on where you live, and I’m curious.

Chapter 1: Potent Potables
Halfway through a lightning round of Shakespeare trivia, you decided you hated Bucky Barnes.
Well, ‘hate’ was a strong word. Not like you wanted the guy dead or anything. But wiping that smug, self-satisfied smirk off his perfect face? Yeah, that would be nice.
“Richard III,” he said smoothly, after casually swatting at his team’s buzzer.
“Ten points to The Heartbreakers!” Bella, the moderator for tonight’s quiz, had sampled one too many margaritas, and her already-effervescent enthusiasm had reached an all-time high. “Next question: what is Shakespeare’s shortest play?”
Three days of intensive Shakespeare review fluttered through your mind; you tried visualizing the binder that Wanda “Type A” Maximoff had put together in preparation for Literature Night. Shakespeare had been the blue tab, right? “Shit.” Natasha fumbled with her tequila.”I know this.”
Across the pub, Bucky flexed his hand casually over the button, tossing a cocky grin over to your table, glancing self-assuredly at his teammate and best friend, Steve. His plump, perfect lips parted before he’d even pressed the button, but –
Buzz!

Ugh, I love this!! I love how cocky and “typical jock” Bucky is (even though I hate cocky men in real life) and how Steve is just a blushing, bumbling boy. I love the interaction between Bucky and Reader. I see great things in the future of this story. Can’t wait to read the next one!
