like whatever. maybe edwards whole problem is that he Can read minds but cant read bellas. so he has no idea how to read her as a person. vs jacob a normal guy who cant read minds and thus Can read bella as a person.

like idk as someone who read the first three books last year it was just sort of horrifying. bella is So Scared of edward and of edward leaving and of not being enough for him. with jacob at her Most Anxious she worries that shes maybe leading him on (to which he immediately comforts her and assures her that shes not and that thats His fucking problem). in eclipse (pre-character assassination) when she is finally able to Get Out From Under Edward's Thumb bc he literally has alice Watching her... when she and jacob meet up again they literally Jump Up And Down with how happy they are to see each other. it sucks so bad, bella basically loses her personality with edward. shes so terrified of making him leave that she agrees with/forgives him for Everything. with jacob they can fight and argue and Still Come Back he's the most stable thing ever in her life and they love each other SO much (however you interpret it). and yet she ends up with edward. the guy who genuinely has scared her on multiple multiple accounts.

I think what really drew me in to twilight when I was a teenager is that, despite the epic vampire whirlwind romance, the teenagers actually do feel like they have REAL lives, and it’s a real shame that that doesn’t translate to the movies (bc a movie with pointless scenes of the main character making enchiladas & doing homework would be crazy boring). I like that Edward enjoys skipping class to sit in his car & listen to Linkin Park CDs, I like that Bella spends her weekends doing laundry and drafting her Macbeth essay, and on sunny days she lays out a blanket to read in her backyard. I like that she drives to her best friend’s house after school to watch him fix cars and do homework together, I like that they have joint family dinners that are just eating spaghetti on fold-out chairs on the deck. I like that her friend group piles in mike’s mom’s van to go hang out at the beach, and when she brings a camera to school they all start a “picture war.” I like that she has a part-time retail job and sits at the kitchen table filling out uni applications with her boyfriend. It definitely loses that quality around eclipse when the focus has to stay on the actual plot, but I like that twilight & new moon feel pretty grounded in what introverted lower-middle class small-town teenagers are actually doing.

EXACTLY OP! Like yes I do in fact want to hear about her making a bowl of cereal while she waits for her dial up to start. I want to hear about her blow drying her hair for her first official date. I want to hear about how she got to school early and sat outside to enjoy the abnormally sunny weather, and work on trig homework. I want to hear it, point blank. That’s why that story holds up for me so well.

I was just checking in on the status of the Quileute tribe's Move to Higher Ground (MTHG) project!

Phase 1, the construction of a new school outside of the tsunami zone, has been completed.

"Our priority was the relocation of the Quileute Tribal School (QTS). Formerly located on a deserted US Coast Guard site, QTS was a few feet above sea level at the Quillayute River estuary, within the Pacific Ocean tsunami inundation zone. On August 5, 2022, the Quileute Tribe celebrated the completion of its newly constructed school on the designated MTHG relocation zone, beyond the threat from tsunamis. The new facility includes a full-size gymnasium with high school regulation sized basketball and volleyball courts, computer and technical skills labs, science laboratories with lockable chemical preparation rooms, a fully equipped woodshop, state of the art technology to enhance student learning, and an upper school lounge where the older students can gather to collaborate, study, or relax during free time. With Phase 1 completed, the Tribe is now working to establish the next phase of the project."

Following Phase 1, the project leads completed a survey to identify priorities for continued housing development needs and is in a planning phase for the next stage of the project.

i get being against jacob if uve only seen the movies bc ik its vastly differently portrayed, but if uve read the books too?? people criticise his reactions and behaviour, but how would YOU feel if u were 16 years old and ur best friend/crush told u that shes essentially killing herself for an older man whos isolated her from all of her family and friends and is asking her to give up everything she loves? that being the same man who abandoned her prior and sent her into a catatonic depression.

I just realized in twilight edward tries to dance with bella and it’s really awkward and she goes “I can’t dance” but in breaking dawn part 1 jacob asks her to dance and she trusts him and takes his hand and he gracefully picks her up and spins her around and she’s grinning ear to ear...
