“So... We got the exploding diarrhea. Here's my advice for anyone who doesn't have it yet:

It's going to take a minute for the government to pin down where this is coming from, and then issue a recall, because the FDA has been gutted. But, I can tell you, without a shadow of a doubt : this is coming from Taylor Farms produce, and you will see them recalled.

You'll want to avoid all Taylor Farms produce in the grocery store. They supply McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, about any fast food place you can think of.

Raspberries, watermelons, cilantro, and the veggies you're hearing about are not causing this many people to get sick. It's the shredded lettuce, specifically, that's the problem. But, you'll want to stay away from every type of produce this company puts out, because one strand of shredded lettuce is all it takes to contaminate bushels.

Taylor Farms is the source. Taco Bell proactively pulled their produce from their restaurants. You're going to see other fast food places doing this, and probably will see that before the government names a source. The FDA knows this, but they can't come out and tell us all until there's proof, which takes resources and research, which takes manpower, but the FDA has been cut by about 20-30%

During the Biden term, onions at McDonald's had ecoli. We knew this because DNA testing was done quickly and they were able to narrow it down to one place that caused the outbreak. And, it was traced back to Taylor Farms. This isn't going to be solved as quickly though.

When you get this, make a virtual appointment to your PCP - a "same day sick" appointment. Tell them someone in your family just tested for this and was positive and was prescribed Bactrim. If you go in person, they're probably going to make you poop in a cup and wait until results come back to prescribe.

You'll know when you get this. Trust me on all of this.

You'll want to stay hydrated because this parasite damages the lining of the small intestine. Your small intestine, in turn, secretes more water into the gut, and less nutrients and liquid are able to remain in the body. So no matter how much you shit, you're going to want to drink. A day of this leads to dehydration if you don't increase your fluid intake, and a few days will land you in the hospital.

If you have headaches, weakness, muscle cramps, dizziness, or an increase heart rate - hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Go to the ER for fluids if you can't drink enough.

This is a corporate agribusiness problem that requires governmental oversight, but the corrupt radicalized religious republican right favors biggest business interests over taxpayers and voters.

Just want to tack something on from someone who has suffered from dehydration many times: DO NOT CHUG your rehydration fluids. Lots of small sips is the way to go, otherwise they're just going to want to come back up the way they came in, and you'll end up in worse shape.

Americans, the government is trying to make the cause of the explosive diarrhea Taco Bell. I do not even eat Taco Bell, but let me tell you, the cause is industrial farms and distributors not caring about food safety or the fieldworkers, and the current US government for cutting the funding to programs that tracked these things, just like screwworm is also their fault.

Taco Bell is a corporation and not be to trusted but reacted faster to this than the federal government. But the regime is trying to distance themselves from all the literal shit, so the only thing they have done is try to make everyone focus on how Taco Bell screwed up and not them.

Washington Post is paywalling the article but it looks like Taylor Farms — a consumer bagged salad brand that also supplies produce to grocers and fast food chains like Taco Bell, Walmart, McDonald's, Chipotle, Burger King, KFC, and Meijer —may be at least one of the sources of the current cyclosporiasis outbreak.

Taylor makes bagged greens, salad kits, chopped salads, the works. Keep avoiding supermarket greens, but keep an especially close eye out for this brand/supplier. The above list of grocers and fast food chains is NOT exhaustive, so please continue getting lettuce and other raw produce taken off your burgers, sandwiches, etc.

Holy crap, this means they were also responsible, not just for the infectious onions of a few years ago, but also the infectious organic carrots of a few years ago. And I thought at the time, "man, even with organic produce, shit is an ineluctable fact of farming," but it's not about organic, it's about Taylor Farms being the absolute worst.

No one's gonna see this but whatever, I need to get it off my chest.

Calling an adult "cute" or "adorable" isn't fucking babying/infantilizing them. They're adjectives. Compliments. Descriptions. No one's infantilizing Lee Know for calling his accent cute or for saying Bangchan is adorable. Having empathy for celebrities isn't babying them either. Saying, "I feel so bad for X, the don't deserve all this hate" is VERY different from, "my baby did nothing wrong, we need to protect them, etc."

Babying/infantilizing is saying a grown ass man doesn't know better when he's wearing a damn hate symbol on his tee shirt. It's acting all shocked when seeing Jenna Ortega smoking a cigarette. Acting you're their mother instead of their fan.

Please read this because it is EXTREMELY important me (a transgender man) and to other trans individuals.

The US Government is currently trying to pass an incredibly dangerous national law for trans youth called HR 2616.

This bill would ban all Federally funded schools from teaching about gender identity or sexual orientation, prevent teachers from using the correct pronouns and names for trans students, remove books with any trans representation in them, and even go as far as to prevent teachers from acknowledging trans identity AT ALL.

Any school that does not follow this will lose all federal funding. This bill would also require teachers to forcibly out trans students to their families, which would be fatal to any trans student with a transphobic Family or just hateful family in general. Trans people are already a group that already has some of the highest rates of being victim to suicide, domestic violence, and sexual assault.

This bill actively makes teachers put those innocent children at such a big risk. This bill has rapidly passed the house this week with support from all 209 republicans, as well as 8 democrats. But, it's still being voted on in the senate, which means there is still time to help stop this.

To help stop this, you can visit 5calls.org (look up 2616 in the search bar), one of the most top issues filed Oppose Attacks on LGBTQ+ Students. Once you put in your general location, it will pull-up contact information for your senator, and give you a script for calling them.

If you are a minor and/or do not feel comfortable doing this, PLEASE repost this on here, or any other platform you are on/can find! This needs to be heard and fought against.
