I depicted the buffalo spirit as a weaver. Creating the land and forming its balance. . . The buffalo symbolizes the ability to carry on through difficulty. Guiding with its strength and quiet power. Pushing through head on. The buffalo is an earth centered animal. And, represents the land and its important aspect of balance with nature. Hello all, I haven't been the most consistent posting lately. Sorry all. The past month has been a trial of many ups and downs, so finding studio time has been a bit difficult. After getting really sick...taking two and a half weeks to fully recover, my motivation slipped a bit. So, I focused on some commissions and stepped away from the canvas. I painted a three wall mural, that really can only be enjoyed in person. And, another surprise commission that is a secret til the recipient receives it. . Having the chance to work on this piece again the past couple of days, has really been an interesting experience of reflection and continuing to truly understand where I have been and where I am now. A lot of this past months experience being poured into this piece. . There is still so much more to go on her. But, I really wanted to share this thought from my sessions. . . Sometimes the universe tells us in its own way to take a break ...a breather, in order for us to truly see the path ahead. To realign. Teaching us to persevere through the hard times and finding comfort in the good. It may be difficult to understand that in the moment, when things feel like they are snowballing. But, know that its as important as those good times. And, that to step back and take a really good look, may be what we really need. . . #wip This piece has challenged me to push the limits. To put every bit of myself, my love for the craft, and all the energy I can pull from within into this piece. Its a test of persevering. Q&A: Why did you choose the name Jagwired art? . . The jaguar is my spirit animal. It has been my guide for many years. When I was younger I dreamt of this cat shifting from black to this spotted golden color. At first it would just sit and watch me, and I would fixate just on his eyes. But, eventually it began to stalk me. I dreamt about this cat every night as a kid until one night when it pounced on me. And, I woke up terrified. It took many years before I dreamt of the cat again. Many years before I understood the significance. Then one year I met @artistandrewgonzalez at a time where art had no solid role in my life. But, he saw this little sketch I did and was so genuinely encouraging for me to continue, it was like a catalyst. And, that cat, the one I dreamed about when I was a kid, came back to me. But, this time I wasn't scared of it. It took time to really embrace what the jaguar was bringing me and I continue to try to understand its lessons and guide. So, I decided when I took my art seriously and took my guide seriously, that the name was significant. The jaguar is a part of me. . . Q&A: What do you like to do when your not painting? . . Sing. I've been singing for years now. Not in any professional capacity, more just for fun. But, I do that quite often. Especially when I'm in my home. Another thing is walking trails or hiking, when I can. I like being outdoors and getting in the dirt and having leaves and twigs find their way into my hair. 😃🌿 I like reading history and philosophy books, as well, reading on cultural studies. Q&A: What inspires me most when creating art? . . I'm inspired most by nature and the multi-realms of the conscious and subconscious mind. I have always been drawn to exploring symbology and the history of our human existence. Each piece to me is like a story and a connection to this thing called life. The good and the bad. Second project that was a gift. I enjoy interpreting my friends and family in these ways. It allows me to just create and let them shine for a bit. Almost done with this piece for a black light gallery show, going down next month. Really pleased with how this piece is going. . . While painting this piece I learned a lot about our coral reef system. From warm water coral to cold water coral, which was first discovered in 2010. The biodiversity of these coral is a way for us to see the health of our oceans. The higher the acidic levels in water greatly impact the warm water coral. Which in turn greatly impact the life that resides within. Cold water coral is believed to impacted mostly by the rise in temperatures in the oceans. Cold water coral is believed to be formed by the release of sediments by glaciers as their bottom half scrapes along the bottom of the ocean. . . Thank You for looking! "Hamsa" and "Hamsa Rising" side by side. I created Hamsa last year when working out a different color palette. And, in that time I have become more and more comfortable with color. Especially the meaning behind the colors. As well as, my connection to the creative process. Where I am more into understanding my role as an artist and what art can bring. . . Carl Jung stated that an artist is just a tool for the creative consciousness to manifest itself. That artist aren't in control, but that something deeper is. And, I think about that often now. Especially after a painting is completed or when I had lost track of physical time. Where what feels like an hour had really been 5 or 6. In that 'time traveling' state I'm lost to the creation process. So much so, I don't realize what I am painting. Just letting it manifest itself. Letting it guide me. I find my most contented state is when I have a brush in hand pushing paint along a canvas. . . Art has been the place of healing for me. To understand the growth we all must take into understanding our conscious awareness of self and what that brings to the whole. Creating is where I meditate most. Letting go of my physical sight and allowing the thirdeye and its insight take hold. . . I can see an awakening of sorts between the two images. A journey into an evolutionary change in the way I create. And, I can not express enough the gratitude I feel for it. . . Thank You!
