The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem (1960s Live)
Will Ye Go Lassie, Go AKA Wild Mountain Thyme
This is a cracking performance of one of my favourite folk song by the Irish group popular known these days Bob Dylan’s heroes. Originally a poem (posted above) called The Braes of Balquhither by the 18th century Scottish Poet Robert Tannahill, a Belfast man by the name of Francis McPeake is credited with the popular version sung here and covered countless times by artists like Marianne Faithfull, The Byrds & Bert Jansch.

INCIRCLES
This 2005 born band consists of three members, Jewlee on guitar and vocals, Eric P. on bass and vocals and Oscar Silva on drums. This album released in March of 2013 is all over the board with rock, punk, and alternative influences. The lead vocalist has a guttural swoon that leads each one of the eleven tracks through an interesting and catchy ride. They come from Long Island and definitely seem headed in a positive direction with this release. I was surprised by the original approach to nostalgic genres. One minute they are punk and the next they are beautiful…you never know where YoungBlood will take you but its never dull or stale…

POZ Showcase: InCircles
New York City outfit, InCircles, have been around the block a few times. Since their formation over seven years ago, the alternative rock trio have gone from smashing brand new guitars on Battle of the Bands stages (a totally legitimate act, considering the circumstance…read on) to working with famed musician and producer, Cynthia Daniels. Not bad. You might as well jump on their band wagon now before it leaves the station for good.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band. Jewlee- lead vox & gitz Eric Ponto- bass & vox Oscar Silva- da drumz What’s your hometown (or what are your hometowns)? Jewlee and Eric are from the glory lands of East Quogue, Long Island, New York. Oscar is from da Bronx, NY. How did the band come together? How long has it been? Jewlee and Eric met back in elementary school and basically learned the other played an instrument. When they got together to jam, they knew how to play all the same covers. They’ve been playing together ever since. They met Oscar about a year ago at a show he booked at Tompkins Square Park in NYC and they became good budz. Oscar recently joined the band, though he already had experience touring Europe as a drummer for a band called Team Spider. InCircles has existed as a band for about 7 years. Why should people listen to your band? Because we speak the truth and do it in your face and you’ll really like it a lot if you come to a show and join our high energy entropy. Plus it’s fun to sing and dance along to. The relationship between a musician and fan is an unspoken, powerful one. This unspoken bond is something we have a lot of respect for. Also, we’re just real and people seem to really dig that. How have you grown since you started? We adapted just like every other human being. Being in a band together since we were very young, we grew together in many ways. We expressed ourselves through our music always. So I think it’s safe to assume we’re getting better at it; refining it. Making the music easier to access from a deeper source. What sets you apart from other bands? A lot of people say we have a lot of energy at our shows and the honesty always comes through. People can always tell when you’re genuine and we give it everything we have at every single show. Whether we’re playing a packed venue or for 3 people, we give it all our blood sweat and tears, every time. Plus we have an amazing producer, Cynthia Daniels, who really gets our aesthetic and helps the music reach its highest potential in recordings.
