hello friends!! this is the first time i touch my laptop in like two weeks i’m having a moment. anyway i’m sorry i’ve been super inactive lately! my best friend (who i ironically met on xanga #rip) was in town all week so i didn’t have a chance to get on tumblr at all. but now i’m back to my normal boring and broke self so i’ll be working on comments soon i promise!

When History Comes Back to Haunt You | Addison & Jace

Addison was torn as to  whether or not she should be happy about her and her partner’s new assignment. It was definitely a nice change of pace and it was good to get out of the city every once in a while, but Naperville? Suburbia wasn’t exactly the brunette’s idea of a good time. Especially when her partner had to tie up some loose ends of one of their previous cases in the city for a few days while she went ahead to Naperville. Technically she didn’t need to report to the chief of police in this small town for another day or so, what was she supposed to do all on her own in a town where she didn’t know anybody? 

She decided on visiting one of the local bars. She didn’t really have any responsibilities yet and considering she wouldn’t know anyone there, there wouldn’t be anybody egging her on to drink more. She could simply enjoy a few drinks on her own, in peace. 

Clad in her usual, dark jeans, almost knee-high riding boots, a dark blue, long sleeved vneck top and her favorite infinity scarf, Addison entered the Irish themed pub and plopped down on a barstool after taking her coat off. Ordering a glass of red wine, she began to make some small talk with the bartender, who turned out to be funnier than she thought he would. 

After he delivered her drink and moved to the other side of the bar to help another customer, Addison turned slightly on her stool to scan the bar. It was relatively busy for a Wednesday night and she spent a few moments simply people watching, something she’d learned to enjoy during her many stake outs as a detective. She’d gotten extremely good at reading people and enjoyed guessing complete strangers stories. Usually, she did this with her partner, making it much more enjoyable as they went back and forth, playfully arguing about whether the guy in the corner was cheating on his wife with the waitress who was currently serving them. But sadly, she had to make due with simply herself. 

She was debating on whether or not the burly man with his back to her actually intended to look like he’d just gotten out of a fistfight with a lawnmower or not when he shifted in his chair and revealed the person he was sitting across from and talking to. Addison whipped around to face the bar again, completely shocked at who she thought she had just seen. It couldn’t seriously be him, right? She snuck a glance at the blonde sitting a few tables away from her and her fears were confirmed. Not only that, but the man had been glancing her way and they’d managed to make eye contact. Addison quickly averted her gaze, feigning having not seen him as she tried to calm down. What were the odds that she’d end up getting placed in the same city as Jace Kenway??

Jason had been crashing since 10am - fatherhood was still something he still hadn't entirely gotten used too. Back in the day he was able to stay out with his friends until the sun came up, catch an hour or two of sleep before making his way to the garage and working a full nine hour shift. Now that he had full custody of Abel, he was used to waking up at the crack of dawn and not heading to bed until...well, whenever the four year old would let him - by noon he was taking power naps in the backseat of customers cars. Despite the constant reminders from his terrible sisters, Jason Kenway was definitely not past his prime. Fatherhood was just...rough.

But not rough enough to keep him from heading to the bar with a few locals from the pack.

After a long day at work, the eldest of the Kenway children managed to get a sitter for Abel - that sitter being one of his sisters. Jace and company had been at the bar for nearly an hour discussing a variety of subjects from current pack issues (despite the offers, Jace still hadn't agreed to return to the pack), to the current college baseball playoffs that were taking place. Although the bar was packed nothing too exciting had happened yet...but the night was still young. In fact, the group had started taking bets on who was going to start the first bar fight of the night; personally, Jason was going with the guy at the end of the bar who was currently swaying as Bon Jovi played loudly in the background.

And then out of no where, things got really interesting.

"Holy shit," he stopped mid conversation, his green eyes suddenly locking with those of Addison Mackenzie. It was like something straight out of the movies - the pair had been sitting across the room from each other and despite the huge crowd and blaring music, they had managed to find each other. But what the hell was she doing here? The last (and first) time Jason had seen her they had met at some bar in the city...what were the chances of them running into each other again, and in Naperville of all places? "I'll be back," the werewolf told his friends, getting up and not bothering to answer where he was going.

Jason made his way through the crowd of people and in record time was standing at the bar beside where Mac was sitting; she actually had yet to see him. "Hey," he spoke, causing the brunette to jump slightly. He held back a chuckle. "I thought we were having a moment there," he teased, a grin on his face and a hint of mischief in his green eyes. Of course Jason saw nothing awkward about running into a former one night stand...even if she had secretly been more than that to him.

When she looked up, she saw clear skies. In New York, Ava saw skyscrapers. Clear skies were fine she supposed, but there were no people typing and texting in the skies. In New York, everyone was working; everyone was working towards something. They strove for their goals, whether that be make it on Broadway or pay the week’s rent, but at least there was an energy in the air. In Naperville, there was just humidity. With this thought in her head, Ava smoothed down her hair; one musn’t let the weather become an excuse for a poor outfit. Today it was a red crop top with high waisted denim shorts and black ankle boots. She shoved her very Lennon-y sunglasses on top of her head as she looked up at the house before her.

It was no high rise, no beach house at the Hampton’s. It looked like what television producers thought American homes looked like. Red brick, desperate for a lawn trim, and a used car in the driveway. Ava raised a perfectly groomed eyebrow at the sight. Her music teachers always told her there was a grounded and human element of her performances; maybe this was why, because it sure as hell wasn’t thanks to Emma or the Hightowers.

With an oversized purse over her shoulder containing the essentials for a father-finding-in-Illinois-exposition, she clicked her feet up the drive and to the front door. With a quick knock, knock, knock Ava prepared the face the man who’d given her nothing but half of her genes. She smacked her lips together a few times to fix her lipstick.

"Son of a-" the words were cut short at the sound unexpected knocking at the door. Jason hobbled around the living room sending a death glare at the small yellow lego piece he had just stepped on. Those things were tiny but deadly, as he had learned rather quickly. His living room was a complete mess; in fact, it looked like a hurricane had just passed through the house...Hurricane Kimberly, to be exact. The youngest of the Kenway clan had been babysitting Abel for the better part of the morning while Jason worked down at the garage. He'd been working for approximately four hours before he received a call that he had to come back home (the third time in a span of two weeks). Apparently Kim wasn't confident enough to handle a four year old with an earache, but she had "taken care of it."

Strangely enough, those weren't comforting words. Jason knew better than to trust his sisters - after all, he had helped raise them.

Finally opening the door, the exasperated look on the werewolf's face quickly softened as he was overwhelmed by a strange sense of deja vu. There was something strangely familiar about the tiny blonde standing at his doorsteps...Jason quickly brushed it off. She looked pretty young, maybe she was one of Kim's friends? Kim. Of course. "Let me guess, Kim sent you?" he asked, a rather unimpressed look on his face. The girl didn't reply which only caused Jason to sigh as he stepped aside, letting her in. "The place is a mess, but considering you hang out with Kim, you should be used to this kind of shit." He closed the door once she was inside and lead the way to the living room; the floor was covered with countless of Abel's toys, the coffee table was filled with day old mail, empty beer bottles and mugs, and small boxes of leftover Chinese food - all this which his sister had eaten.  A typical day in the Kenway household.

"Looks like she ate the last of everything, so I can order a pizza or something. Please tell me you eat pizza?" he asked, looking over at the blonde who looked more like she was ready to go on a shopping spree with her fathers credit card than babysit a sick toddler. Jason cleared up one of the couches, grabbing Abels blanket and tossing it onto a smaller sofa chair, before turning down the volume on the tv. "How much is she paying you for this, anyway?"
