India. A young boy in the rain outside Madurai. He and a group of kids had seen me form far off, the westerner with cameras very obvious in this remote town outside Madurai. They had run screaming at me, laughing and asking for their photos to be taken. And after calming them all down a bit I noticed this young man with a blue trash bag as a rain poncho in front is a faded yellow wall and I though it was beautiful. For me travel is most always about people and culture and for a kid raised in Arizona, I have strangely found myself most comfortable in India. Not only is there a broad and deep diversity of peoples and history but it’s played out on one of the most riotously vibrant cultures I’ve visited. Most every place you look, something is happening and though I’ve talked to others who found that overwhelming, it makes me feel alive.
