Something about Self-control
You’ll never believe this was already on my to-draw next list before i watched ep 1
FEFEUHHEFWHWEJWJFEJWH HIIIIII MONKEYY KINGGGG!!! :D
'SUP!!! B)
Thrilled to be here. On this chair, I mean. This is a really comfy chair. Um, totally not made from hair......
Woah hey, that rhymed. Did someone get that down?
You know a really cool trait you gain after being a lmk fan for a certain amount of time is misspelling the word monkie forever
Self-immortalization??
Bitch you're not even here how are you still traumatizing this boy
“I felt the red-winged man gaze, I heard him speaking. I know who you are, he said, there are two ways this can go, no, three ways. I don’t want to count the ways, I said, I just want to finish it. I need to get to the end. His wings lifted and sanked. Oh my darling, he said, you’re a long way from the end.”
— Anne Carson, H of H Playbook
Everyone: God you are so selfish pls go die.
Wukong: WHAT DO YA THINK I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO THE LAST FIVE SEASONS?!
Macaque spent the whole season Big-Damn-Hero-ing and was NOT happy about it xD
LEGO Monkie Kid’s co-producer posted this. No further context was given.
People speculate that these are either the English season 5 episode titles, or season 5 specials.
Okay but what does "Strings that Bind" mean cuz I didn't see any strings or notice any mention of "strings" in ep 1 🤔
LMK S5 SPOILERS!! (small ep10 thought)
Nah cuz it's the fact that they all legitimately thought they were going to die, and so they chose to spend their last moments holding hands, watching the world crumble around them together....dang.
what were ur thoughts on lmk season 5?
Disclaimer, I watched in mandarin with no english subtitles like everyone else!
If I could describe it in a single word, it would be... Awkward.
the animation, and how the plot was tied up. Felt uncomfortably like a season 3 rehash... and things just happened weirdly fast. It also felt uncomfortably fanservice-y...? Lots of fandom-favorite ships interacting, macaque felt weirdly powerful and wukong seemed unusually helpless... probably some other things. It's weird sandy suddenly got mad and immediately resolved it? hadn't it been previously established that it is very hard to push him to a breaking point? Idk... weird.
I'll hold off any final judgements for the english release, but it seemed... okay, overall? not that it didn't have its stand out moments. There was a moment in ep9 that made me SCREAM it was SO GOOD. iykyk.
but yeah, it felt... weird.
// LMK S5 SPOILERS!!
I agree with every single one of your points!! Also, I was so sure that more of the Journey and the Pilgrims would be explored upon this season because of Tripitaka's ties to the circlet, and I was pretty sure that'd lead to a dive into Wukong's and Tang's relationship (which is a new dynamic that hasn't really been explored in the show!) but instead this season's interactions are almost exclusively comprised of well-established/fan-favorite dynamics like Freenoodles, Dragonfruit, Shadowpeach/the Monkeys, etc. It's like everyone sticks to their own little niche groups or something, and to be honest, I feel like nothing particularly interesting has risen from (most of) those interactions this season (eyeing Freenoodles in particular). Wish we could get more mix-ups going in this show—it'd be refreshing and also prevent those fan-favorite dynamics from getting stale.
The whole Nezha and Li Jing conflict was also resolved really quickly without too much development, but to be fair, LMK does have a history of resolving things/turning things around really quickly. Like when I watched LMK for the first time, I thought PIF and Red Son siding with MK in the S1 finale and Spider Queen choosing to help MK out before she died in S2 were kind of sudden and out of nowhere. If there are hints, you really have to squint. I don't know if I can really blame the writers though because each episode is only 10 minutes long; I guess they can only pick a few plotpoints to actually develop satisfyingly in a given season, and that's fair enough—if something wasn't meant to be that deep, than so be it.
