Why cant I turn off the radio?

   Its funny how Neyo's song was just another with a good beat to me. I loved singing it and dancing to it but it seems to bring on a whole new meaning. Ever had one of those days where it seems like no matter what station you put it on, all the songs relate to your situation? I have had many of those including last night. Its funny how we are like Neyo's song though, we cant seem to turn it off. Maybe its because we love the thoughts that come to mind or maybe its because we finally focus in on the real issue at hand. Thankfully my experience has always been a positive one but I know there can be some negatives. Music has the power to heal, the power to change a point of view, the power to lower a temper. Music has the power to make change. This is why we cant turn off the radio. Its therapeutic! I have had times where I have had to snatch the earphones out of my ears because my brain was on overload but who hasnt been overwhelmed before?! Its all part of the experience. I personally think that some of the best decisions are made while listening to music because you really are focused on the decision at hand. So next time you have your playlist goin and life has dealt you an interesting had, just sit back and let the music take over. You would be surprised at what thoughts come to mind and the clarity you will receive!

Sometimes men need a break...

It is tradition to have the man take care of and spoil the female of the relationship but I have to say I am a little non traditional. I think its great to have someone who wants to spoil you and wants you to be well taken care of but I am the type of person where I want to spoil my man as well. I don’t think that is such a bad thing and I really think whoever my future boyfriend or even husband is, would appreciate it.

I think this would give him a break every once in a while and it would show him that I think he is appreciated and loved. Now I am not saying that this has to be a daily or weekly thing, but I am saying that its something that should happen every once in a while when he least expects it. Hopefully whoever I do it for or you do it for likes surprises. I know that some men don’t. But here is what I was thinking about doing if I had a boyfriend:

1. Pick up the tab every once in a while: His wallet is on a budget just as much as yours is. This will allow him to have a little extra change in his wallet but also allow you to take some of the pressure off of him and show him that you are his partner and he deserves to have a nice meal and not worry about the check every now and then too.

2.Send a letter:Now days with e-mail, Facebook, and text messaging, no one really writes letters any more. I think it would be a nice surprise for him to get a letter in the mail unexpectedly. Its personal and its something that you have put thought into. Not that you couldn’t do it electronically but I think you put more effort in a hand-written letter.

3. Make his favorite foods:For this I was thinking more of football and basketball seasons. Lets say its game day for your mans favorite team and you know he has to work that day as well. I think it would be awesome for him to have a spread of his favorite food and drink for the game all ready to go so that when he gets home, he is surprised to learn that he doesn’t have to worry about a meal for the night and he can just sit back and enjoy the game.

4. Listen:Now you are probably wondering what I am talking about when I say listen. I dont mean that you tune him out but every once in a while but i am saying listen to what he says and plan your surprise that way as well. Every man is different but should he mention something about what he saw on the internet or a bill thats coming up then maybe you could have the one thing he wanted delivered to his door step or if you have a little extra money in your wallet, pay the bill he is stressing about. For example: I have always wanted to do this: Lets say you arrange to pay your bf’s rent for a month as a surprise. So he comes home to find a note at his door step and it reads as follows:I know you have been working hard for your check only to have half of it spent, but by the time you read all of this note, I have already paid your rent! Enjoy the extra boost in your account!I mean what guy wouldnt want an extra $500 or$600 in his wallet!

Let me just say this one last thing. These ideas are just meant as surprises that you do every once in a while just to show you care and that you are his partner in this life. You desire to take care of him just as much as he takes care of you. I hope that one day I will be able to do some of these things for a special someone. Like I said in the beginning I am a little nontraditional but that is only because I like to take tradition and reinvent it. I have read and heard so many men say that they leave a relationship because they don’t feel appreciated or wanted and i would never want my future bf or husband to feel that way.

Which one are you?

   As a girl who is newly single, I had a thought while I was exercising: I just watched the episode of Martin where he and Gina broke up and Martin ends up going out with this girl named Lisa that he met at a club. When ladies start dating a man, do you become the Lisa, who is just another temporary fix, or the Gina, who he cant get his mind off of? Most women would love to be the Gina but sadly, most of them become the Lisa. And some of it has nothing to do with the woman. Sometimes men just desire to be bachelors and sometimes the timing is just bad. And Sorry but I have to play the Devil's advocate but some women don't want to be a Gina and some women are so crazy that they will never be a Gina unless they change their ways. But here is a curve ball, how do the Lisas become the Ginas?

Gene Therapy Required?!

  With the thought of diseases, it also got me thinking, should we as humans have the right to be able to afford to have some gene therapy once we become young adults or even as infants, especially with insurance? I don't know how close we are to being able to do such a thing but I do know that they are knocking on that door and waiting for the right discovery to open it. Once that door is opened, it could enlighten people as to what we have to look forward to in our health in years down the line. It could also lead to saving lives, especially young ones. Would you be opposed to if the chance became available, to have gene therapy? There are so many traits that need to be studied in more depth and if they finally got a chance in the spotlight then maybe there are more cures than we thought.

    I hope that one day gene therapy can be apart of our check ups and I am not talking a vague test but something in depth so people can be educated in their DNA. I realize that type of technology would cost millions but I think that is millions worth spending. No one can function without good health so this should become priority.

    I can not wait for the day where you can go to the doctor's office, have a consultation about whats wrong, and then have the doctor take a DNA sample and then customize the treatment based on your biological map. Of course this means mind sets would have to change. It would have to be patient oriented and not politically oriented. If we can spend millions on frivolous expenditures than we should be able to finally spend on something that can change and save lives. Gene therapy is the future and we have got to get ready...

To My Future Husband...

To start this letter off, I love you whole heartedly. I love everything about you including your flaws. But most importantly I prayed for you and your family. I prayed that God would see fit to answer the prayers you prayed to Him. I prayed that our relationship would grow the way He wanted it to grow. I prayed for you more than myself. I feel as if praying for you is like praying for the other half of my soul. God is what brought us together and with God, nothing can stand in our way. Even when we have problems, God is there to lead us in the right direction. I prayed that we would have a God centered relationship where all successes were by God's doing and no one else's. I pray that we are humble and never take each other for granted. I know that niether one of us is perfect but we are perfect for each other. All I have ever wanted from you was the love in your heart. I have wanted to be with you through the good, the bad and the indifferent. It doesnt matter if we are rich or poor. I feel rich by having you in my life. In the words of Maya Angelou "I was yours to have and you were always mine" I know that one day you will read this and see that the person you were meant to have as your partner, your wife, has a true unconditional love for you no matter what. I have the utmost respect for you and will always be there for you even if I am the only one that's beside you. I will care for you and even tell you things you don't want to hear but only out of love. To my future husband, I just want to finally say you and God are the only ones that dwell in my heart...

When Did Science Become So Simple?

I was reading a book on DNA and every time I came across an experiment that had to be performed to make the DNA discoveries that had been made, it occurred to me that science just seems so simple because it came down to 2 questions: What is it you want to change? and How do you want to change it? Sometimes in life, I want to perform certain experiments on the people I interact with. What do I want to change? Attitudes, ways of thinking, and certain philosophies on life. The problem comes with the second question: How do I want to change it? I am not a very outgoing person but once I get to know people, I open up. Its just my personality. The problem becomes when I want to influence a perfect stranger. I tend to keep all of my opinions inside. I sometimes think the world would be a better place if more people were more open about their opinions and tell people, even strangers, why you are pleased or displeased with them. But I also understand why this isnt done. Too many people are too quick to reach for weapons than words and thats sad. We cant speak up because we are afraid for our lives. I have heard it said once that someone loved children and old people. This is because they will just say what they want without a thought. For children, there lives are just starting and they havent really lived so you cant miss or worry about a life you havent experienced yet. For the elderly, they have lived life to the fullest and are just relaxing the rest of the way so if their life comes to an end, it would only be the close of an excellent book. But unfortunately the majority of us is caught in between being a child and being elderly. So what should we do? Should we start speaking up or do we just keep it inside and hope a miracle happens and they change?

I’m seriously in tears right now trying to pay for college. The payment plan with my college didn’t work out seeing as the first payment is over $1,400 and is due in a month. And every payment after that is over $1,000 monthly. Obviously I can’t afford that.

Why I Dislike Grocery Shopping

Dont get me wrong, Iloveto shop for damn near anything but grocery shopping has to be the worst for the following reasons:

The motorized scooters: I understand the need for them. The elders in this world sometimes need proper transportation to complete their shopping task and remain independent but here is where I have the problem: If you have to use said scooter, dont act like you are the privileged of the store. I am shopping as well and would appreciate it if you would not try to run me over or give me dirty looks when I am trying to shop in the same area as you are. I understand respecting your elders but enough is enough!

Walmart checkout: We all know that walmart has 31 checkout stands but for some reason, one of which I can not figure out, at the busiest times of day there are only 10 checkout stands open! And when I say 10 that factors in the 4 that are speedy checkouts for 20 items or less which only leaves 6 regular check out stands for the other 75 people all trying to check out at the same time. Is it just me or does anyone else see a problem with this picture?!

Grocery store parking lots: We all know that the front parking spots are the most coveted spots in any parking lot some of which are reserved for the handicapped. There are Four(4) things I hate about grocery store parking lots: 1. If I already have my blinker on to make a left turn for a parking spot and you are coming the opposite direction, don't turn your blinker on to go right just because you realized I found a parking spot. Go find your own! What you don't realize is I have been circling the parking lot for 10 minutes and found this spot so if you think your ass is going to take this spot you have another thing coming! 2. Wrong way drivers get on my LAST nerve!! If there is a big yellow arrow telling you its a one way street, then follow the damn arrow!! Its there for a reason! I shouldn't have to pull over so you can get down the aisle. I will make you back up into traffic and go down another aisle. Don't think I haven't done it before!! 3. Do not drive across the parking lot like its free reign! You have a brain use it!! If one drives across the parking lot, then one will likely cause an accident and if I am in the car and you have hit me because of your stupidity, I will come down on you hard! No sorry in the world will save you from my wrath! Your an idiot if you thought that was OK and I am sorry to announce, there is no cure for idiots. and last but not least 4. If I park in a spot you were wanting, without prior knowledge of me knowing you wanted it, do not park and then come and bitch about me taking your parking spot. You yelling at me will only piss me off and get this! The car will still be where I parked it!! Yelling at me will not produce a magical effect where my car will mysteriously lift and change places with your vehicle. Save your breath and just go get what you need and leave. Life is too short!

Bad ass kids!!If your child screams through out the store, that means your child is seeking attention and you need to address it. Do not let little Johnny proceed to sit there and scream and interrupt mine and other shopper's experience. Furthermore, do not let your kids run around the store. I warn you now because if little johnny or Sara comes around me, I will not hesitate to tell them to go find their mom or dad and sit their little ass down somewhere!

people who can not drive (their carts of course!)I cant tell you how many times I have almost or have been hit with a cart! Its ridiculous! All I am saying is its as easy as when you first learned about walking in the street: Look both ways before you cross! Its really not a hard concept!!

Loud Talkers:Last but not least, If I am standing next to you shopping or standing behind you in line, please refrain from talking extremely loud when you are on your phone or talking to the person next to you. The reality of it is, I have no desire to hear your conversation nor do I care what its about. Take this as a PSA: 99% of the world could care less about your conversation. You and the person you are talking to are the only 1% that care. Especially if its a foreign language. Foreign languages are beautiful but not when you yell it in my ear. K thanks!

Now this rant is through,  do not worry! This is just a funny and sarcastic way to talk about things that commonly happen to people at the grocery store so dont take it personal but stay tuned for other life lessons learned through the glasses of sarcasm!

Racism is wrong...enough said!

Now before you go and blast this post with your 5 page explanation of why one race is better or worse than the other or why my views or wrong, try reading this entire post: Racism starts with one ethnic group disliking another due to skin tone or race traditions but 9 times out of 10 it's for skin color. I think that if people are going to be racist, they should do it intelligently. I have never heard of a more uneducated response as to why hatred is shown to a group of people. Skin color is something you are born with. You don't get to go to a computer and personalize yourself when you are born. Its just something you are stuck with. I realize we have all of these plastic surgery techniques but at the end of the day, you are still the same race you were when you entered this world. I have no hatred to groups because I feel we can all learn from each other and every group, no matter what, has done things that are stupid. Now I don't expect you to like my opinions but I do ask that you respect them. If you ask my race, I will tell you human. If you ask if I can back up my argument with examples, I will say check any news source or even YouTube. If you ask if I base my reasoning on intelligent research, I will tell you yes. Racism is getting old. I am not above you and you are not above me. We are human and should act as such. There is no excuse for why one should be a racist. NONE. I believe we all have strengths and weaknesses and even within the same race, we are all different. No one group should be bashed because of one person and one person should not be bashed because of the group. I'm over the racism. When will we let it go? No matter what you do, there will always be the other races around so just get over it!

Why Doesn't it Load faster?

Sometimes when we are on our computers or our cellphones, we often wonder why things do not load any faster than the speed they are going. After all, we have 4G now so things should be close to instant right? Well I think we do the same with life. Sometimes while we feel as if our lives are operating in a 2G or 3G network, it may seem like other people are in a 4G network. This is not to offend people but sometimes I just feel as if, us in the 2G or 3G network, have been held back with the things of the past. For example, school. Going to college doesn't mean the same thing it once did. It use to be that when you go to college and get a degree, it was your ticket to a guaranteed life in the middle class with the option to make it into the elite class. Now days, not so much. College can still mean the difference between minimum wage and a great salary but at the same time, so many people are succeeding without said degrees so what is it that we should think about College? I think its that we should give it a try but should it not work out, resort back to the basics: Reading. You would be surprised at how much you knowledge you will gain by reading things yourself.

      People forget that the ones who succeed in life had to do some research so why put yourself in a " whoa is me" attitude when college falls through, when you could empower yourself and read about the subjects that interest you and go from there. You would be surprised at the amount of opportunities that are created from reading. This is just one of many examples of getting in and staying in a 4G mindset. We can't keep holding ourselves back by using the traditional thoughts of the past as an excuse. This is a different age and we need to start some new traditions and mindsets.

  We can not move forward if we constantly have to keep reaching back to the 1945 version of the American Dream. If we want to have the house with the picket fence, the dog named Skip and the two kids, one boy and one girl, then we need to go after it and quit waiting for someone to hand it to us. We still live in the land of the free but sometimes it seems like we live in the Land of the Whine! All I hear is "Why me?" or "See! Its The Man that's holding us back!" as if there is a giant 12 foot man that is keeping everyone from having a 7 figure salary or our dream life. The only thing holding us back is ourselves. I use to think that maybe I was just destined to whine and feel as hopeless as possible but now I have learned that as long as I stay in 3G, I will never know what its like to be upgraded. Some of us have been walking around with old equipment for too long and then sit back and wonder why everyone else looks to have the life they wanted. Its time to upgrade!
