InaraZoe Shipweek 2026, March 1st - March 7th
As many of you know, from the poll series run from late November to late January, Inara/Zoe was the ultimate winner of The Firefly Rarepair Tournament and as such, I feel they should be celebrated! Anyone is welcome to participate, and there is also zero pressure for anyone to participate. All I can tell you is I will be doing this even if I am literally the only person doing it, lmao.
This is, comparatively to most fandom events out there, a fairly informal affair. I cannot emphasize enough that I'm doing things the way that they make sense to me and what I think will work best for this fandom and this event - which is to say, not the way most advice for running a fandom event of any sort will tell you to do it. Oops! All I can say is that I'm doing it this way because anything else A) will drive me insane B) doesn't make very much sense to me based on the way the Firefly community on Tumblr works. We are Not Massive (though very mighty and very pretty) to begin with, and on top of that, this is By Design an event for a small ship. So!
With that in mind: I debated making another poll giving options for people to vote on, but that ultimately would have made this a longer process than it's already been. I considered the whole 'making another blog for it' thing people do, but that seems counterintuitive to getting the people who follow me here and want to know about it the information, and if I make another blog, it's probably not going to get much use after that. (Note: I love the idea of this and love the idea of doing more fun event things, but I'm not super into the whole 'I do this every quarter/month/year/whatever'. In case it isn't blatantly obvious about me, I like trying different stuff!)
I've listed a few prompts a day for people to pick from, but note! These are literally just guidelines, because I know if I stare at something that says 'do whatever' too long, I will get overwhelmed and then not do it. There is also a more official free space because I wanted there to be one. But if that's also overwhelming, feel free to pull from one of the leftover prompts you didn't use.
Also note: most of these prompts work best for fanfic, but please trust that I would so completely adore participation with any and all types of fan creation, including (but not limited to), gifs, edits, meta, playlists, fanart, etc. Whatever works best for you is welcome! Fic unfortunately just tends to be the easiest thing to provide prompts for. You are also welcome to mix and match prompts or do multiple prompts in a day, should you so desire. You're also, again, welcome to more or less disregard them. I'll probably tag those with some sort of misc note for categorization's sake, but other than that!
Now that you've read my wall of text and answered my riddles three, here are those aforementioned prompts:
Undercover / Rain / Transference
Roleswap / Canon-Divergence / Battle Couple
"Who are you?" / Unrequited / Heist
There's Only One Bed / Pregnancy / Mutual Pining
Soul Bond / Time Loop / "How can you say that?"
Search and Rescue / Assassination Attempt / "Don't say I didn't warn you."
I'll probably rb this post a few times for the sake of reminders and any updates. Once the week itself starts, I'll post a reminder of the specific prompt for that day at a specific time - likely 9 AM CST. Cheers!
Okay, being more serious: it would be helpful to me for record-keeping purposes (ala tags) if you indicate whether through a title, within the post itself, or your own tags, the prompt it's meant to respond to, if any. Also, while I'm totally fine if someone skips a day or is running behind and wants to do a prompt for the day prior etc, it is helpful to me for you to indicate along with that prompt the date it should go with. (So, say you post something for the prompt of 'Rain' on day 2, you would still post indicate it as being intended for day 1.)
Please tag #inara zoe shipweek 2026, which is a tag I now follow. Capitalization shouldn't matter. This is so I can check whatever anyone's posted and reblog. I'll follow the tag without the spaces as well, just in case, but the benefit of this being a small fandom and small ship is that there is literally nothing else in that tag.
That being said, if for some reason I do not rb something you've made for the event within at least a few days (and I'm going to try for daily), that is not on purpose! Please feel free to reach out.
Also: consider rb'ing other people's stuff! It's definitely not required or something I am like, Checking On, but I <3 fan community engagement, I think it's so beautiful and one of the draws of something like this To Me is the excuse to interact with more cool people who make cool things!
Has not been an issue around these parts and in full earnestness I do not foresee it being one, but do not harass other people, use hate speech toward them, etc. Again this is aimed at no one in particular because this fandom is very lovely, it's just a thing I feel should be said. TLDR; don't be an asshole.
That's it for now, but I'm so excited! Femslash reigns supreme, as it rightfully should.
