Wolfstar in my style (if I can really call it my style, this was pretty far outside my comfort zone, art-wise).
Had to draw the busted lip makeout scene from Black Mass over Highway 90 ❤️🌙✨️
this is Neil Josten btw, and he doesn't even smoke so that is also a lie

Bound: Naked by @bixgirl1
Featuring art by: @slyssnakes Typeset and bound by: me, @phoenixortheflame
Harry and Draco are sent on an undercover assignment to catch a Dark wizard — which might not be so bad if it weren't at a Muggle nudist resort. Now Draco has to deal with a very interested Harry, temptation he's long-since learned to ignore, and threats around every corner — including the one to his heart.
My first time doing a cut out! Well... it's not exactly a cut out, because I didn't cut into the cover board. But more on that later.
I made this bind for @dogearedbindery as part of the Summer of Drarry Exchange hosted by @itsphantasmagoria.
I am not big on summer aesthetics. Bright, fruity colours just don't do it for me. Don't get me wrong, other people embrace these elements beautifully, but they just don't feel like me.
For this bind I kept things simple (naked you might even say), featuring a nearly all black-and-white typeset (save for the art by @slyssnakes), a neutral cover, minimalist HTV, and this amazing black-and-white waves chiyogami paper.
The cut-out effect was achieved using a bit of card stock. It was really quite easy, and I'll definitely do it again.
Cut a piece of card stock the same size as your cover board, then, with a box cutter, cut out the shape of the window.
Layer and glue a sheet of decorative paper on the cover board.
Make your case, but instead of the front cover board, use the card stock.
Cut the window out of the book cloth, but leave about 1cm around the edges to turn into the window and glue down.
Glue the cover board to the card stock.
Finish the case as usual.
I did just a single-colour endband, but I used DAS' two-colour front bead method as I find it's the most forgiving. Plus it looks really good!
I rounded the spine on this one — and, y'all, I think I'm sold. A rounded spine (even if not backed) looks soooo slick.
This bind was almost a complete fucking disaster. For a few reasons, actually. First is I used Allure book cloth, which wasn't sticking nicely to the card stock and cover boards. Secondly, I made the hinge gaps too small. I thought because I was rounding I should make them smaller. WRONG. I discovered just how wrong I was when I cased it and tested the covers only to discover it wouldn't open. I quickly removed the text block from the case, replaced the end pages, remade the case using a different book cloth and standard hinge gaps, and voila. (Thank you to @epitomereally for talking me off the ledge while this crisis was occurring.)
The typeset is pretty simple and features three pieces of very sexy art by @slyssnakes. I can't even share chapter three's header as it will no doubt get my post flagged.
I hope you love the bind, Shannon! I'm going to have to make one for myself now....
And @bixgirl1, if you're out there, I'd love to make you a copy, too, so don't hesitate to DM me!
As always, this was made as a gift. No money (or other capital) was involved in this exchange.
Naked is free to read on A03.
And remember, folks, don't be a dick; don't commodify fic!

The cutout method is genius!! And the bind is perfection
Kill Your Darlings by MesserMoon @sophsicle
This song felt like the perfect movie-ending moment when reading, and I knew I wanted to make a bind emulating Queen's Hot Space album forever ago, but didn't know how to do it. I did so many new things with this bind, and that's part of why it took me approximately 3 million years to complete (okay maybe a year and a half).
💽 Made the cover art! by mushing multiple guys' faces together to get portraits of James, Evan, Barty, and Reg (except Reg, that's just Timmy)
🎶 Did a three piece bradel for the first time (measurements were confusing, but it worked!)
🎙️ large format bind! This is 11x17 paper that I perfect bound and cased in, so I could preserve the size rather than folding. The endpages are from a large roll of art paper that I cut to 24" long and used custom print settings for.
One of these was made for Mad Crow Bindery as part of a trade we set up forever ago where we would send each other one of our fave fics. Another was an author copy, and the third is for me!
🚨 As always, keep fanfic free! KYD can be read for free on ao3

🎨 @slbindery commissioned this beautiful art of the million museum kisses from Alixverses (IG) that I got to use for the dust jacket.
🖌️ She mentioned a watercolor vibe to me so I did a blue watercolor for the cover to match the dust jacket art. The title card is inlaid in the cover, and printed onto watercolor paper.
🚓 This was bound with explicit permission from the author. They require individual permissions to bind. Respect author policies, and keep fanfic free!

Another repeat bind! (and also an author copy) Photographer who?? Look what happens when I actually try. I'm super happy with how it turned out. I called this one the "French edition" just because it's centered around Paris and has lighter imagery, as opposed to the heavy themes of the fic.
Long time, no post...
Of His Bones by @sophsicle
I'm still reading this one, but I'm obsessed with James already (shocker). This was an impromptu bind, and an author copy. I adore how it came out, and need to make one for myself now.
Matt and neil mean so much to me
hc that one time, sirius accidentally spills a love potion on himself and as he’s going to his dorm to change, james is on his way out. he casually says “oh, you’re wearing regulus’ perfume today!” and leaves. sirius stands in the doorway for the next forty five minutes trying to process that information.
started reading TCOPTP last month and felt inspired to draw Sirius 🐾🎶 feel like it still needs some work but figured I’d post anyway 😭
