✧ ·゚ * OPEN STARTER.
“ SIXTEEN. THAT’S THE number of consecutive days that someone has asked me whether or not all I do on stage is just jump around and ‘fake’ mix as a track plays behind me, ” rhys sighed, sipping from the plastic straw of his green smoothie as his eyes rolled to the back of his head. “ … that expensive-ass equipment isn’t going to just SIT there, dumbass. ”
“okay, don’t get mad at me but...is that not how it works?” jade asked, cocking her head to the left. truthfully, she didn’t usually pay attention to the inner workings of other people’s performances. she was busy enough with the band’s own shows. “i’m sorry, i guess my experience is just limited to traditional instruments.”
“ listen, mate. ” his voice is a little giggly, the smile on his face is childish and a little endearing, disarming. but there’s a hidden glow in the color of his eyes, a promise of something more than innocence. “ just… here, ” he holds out his hand, the one that doesn’t have his phone anymore. “ i need…assistance to my vehicle, uber, limo. ” sire finally says, then lets out another laugh.
who the hell gets drunk on a wednesday afternoon ?
jade herself was not drunk enough to be dealing with this but the guy looked ready to topple over so she let him latch onto her hand. “what on earth are you doing?” she sighed, anxiously looking over her shoulder, worried that she’d end up tangled in some paparazzi narrative. “it’s 1pm.” realistically she knew time didn’t matter to most in this city but she really didn’t have another argument. “i’m not gonna end up in some article about day drinking pop stars so you need to show me where your car is otherwise we’re taking mine.”
ims to — jade.
ZAN: (fuckboi voice) wyd?
ZAN: you should hang out with me :)
JADE: hot
JADE: sure as long as there's food involved at some point
❝ i stayed up until 3am last night writing these lyrics, but looking at them now— ❞ lydia pauses to scroll through her notes app. ❝ here, i rhymed you with you. ugh, her mind. ❞
“you should see the trash i write when i’m high.” jade laughed, though she truly did know how lyrics could be a struggle at times, “rhyming is overrated anyway. these days i sort of just write songs that flow like talking does if that makes sense.”
『 an open starter for @jcdehq … 』
the show had been going on for a bit now, and it wasn’t as if kamia was just having a terrible time; it was just the fact that the letter she had wrote her mother was lingering in her mind and she just wanted to get away for a moment. having exited the main room and wondering down various hallways until she found a safe spot; she crouched down leaning against the wall. “ thank fucking god. ” she whispered beneath her breath; it wasn’t until she took a glance over that she realized she wasn’t alone. “ oh my fucking goodness. ” the slight view of another body startled her, almost knocking her from her heels from which she was rocking on. “ you hiding out too ? ” she questioned the other.
jade had hidden in a dim corridor, just standing there barefoot next to her painful stilettos which she’d taken off the second she was alone. she was anxious to perform, and frankly feeling a little too emotional. every drink she downed ended up tasting like heartbreak and after their performance, she’d decided to clock out for the rest of the show. eventually, another girl showed up but didn’t notice her and instead of making her presence known, she kind of just waited for the other to figure out which she did, scaring herself in the process. “sorry,” jade shrugged, a bit of a lazy laugh in her voice, “yeah, i’m honestly done with this whole fucking night. they should really try to make these things short and sweet.”
churchgambit:
“ i’d argue but i’ve seen some of ya’ clothes and i have to agree.” he joked, jade was one of those annoying girl’s who looked hot in just about anything. it was a talent that her stylist seemed to exploit on the regular. “ just don’t be that bitch who comes in the prom lookin’ ass dress and converse because i will drag your ass out myself. ” church appreciated that he didn’t cop some patronizing speech about supporting his fellow artist. he came to these things for the exposure and to occasionally make connections with people for the future, whether it be for his acting, directing or music. “ while we’re on the subject, opinion time; do i drop the promo to my single tonight knowing that every man and his dog are on twitter or do i sit on it and wait until i don’t gotta share the attention? ”
he listened with an attentiveness that church spared for few. her night sounded about as appealing as banging her toe on the counter corner for half an hour straight. “ fuck that, come to my after party. i’m hittin’ up in-n-out, gettin’ what could only be described as a sinful amount of shit and i’m gonna go home and watch a movie and smoke up. there’s always an extra spot on the couch. ” friends did that. it wasn’t weird. they could hang out without slipping up, they were two mature adults with impulse control.
jade’s style was what some would call eclectic and others would call a mess. there was no consistency. she could be decked out in designer one night and wearing a too-tight top from high school the next and usually, it just depened on what she pulled from her closet and how it felt once she put it on. there’d never been any rhyme or reason and it wasn’t too rare for and outfit to come out ‘ugly’.
“considering it’s not 2008 i think we’re safe.” jade smiled, deciding against making a joke about how he’d seen plenty of her without the questionable clothes as well. she had to behave. “well, you know i can’t resist in-n-out so i think i’m gonna have to take you up on that...” jade replied, biting her lip as her thoughts began to tumble in her pretty little head, questioning whether it was really the food she couldn’t resist or him. whether or not she actually had the willpower to not give in to her hedonistic tendencies. she hadn’t even considered it being an issue until he was sitting in front of her looking good and smelling good and talking to her the way he was like what she was saying mattered even if it didn’t. it all felt so easy and as lazy as jade was at times, unsurprisingly she was weak when it came to easy.
churchgambit:
“ that’s the attitude i like to hear. ” he grinned, happy he didn’t have to do the compliment dance of her denying it like he often had to with the other people in his life. a whole of time spent wishing people could just take the damn praise. fiddling with the night’s program, he bit back a playful grin. “ thank you, i dressed myself, for once. like an adult. ” he enunciated the final word for emphasis. “ i’m riding the line. good booze, pretty girl’s. i’ve had worse nights but i’mma be an asshole and admit that i’m decidedly less interested in this night knowing it doesn’t have anythin’ to do with me. ” church had no problem admitting he was self centered. who got into entertainment if they didn’t enjoy on some level their own shit? he couldn’t imagine anything worse than having to do all of this if he hated the spotlight.
“ what about you? ” he asked. “ glad to be performing or wishing that you could just hit up the highlights of the night tomorrow from the comfort of the couch? ” he couldn’t imagine she would be thrilled to publically be sharing the stage with his ex. he couldn’t say he was thrilled to watch it himself.
“if i tried to dress myself for one of these things i’d probably end up some kind of meme so color me impressed.” she nodded, absently picking at the manicure on her nails that she hadn’t wanted in the first place. “makes sense. there’s no sense in caring about this shit if it’s not doing your career any favors, right?” as much as she hated the scrutiny that came with big events, she knew the fans were looking forward to it and thus, she had a reason to show up. they were unveiling the new single and that was a good thing, something she should be happy about and just let herself enjoy.
“glad to be performing but if we weren’t, i’d most likely skip it. with so many other people performing i doubt we get much hype from this anyway and the rest of the night...well, it’s too predictable, really. i’m gonna get dragged to a basic after party where people pretend they know what band i’m from, jett’s gonna get laid because jett always gets laid, and corinna is probably gonna be high as fuck before we even get on stage. same shit as always.” she’d purposely refrained from commenting on kit because frankly, now that his plans didn’t involve her she had no clue what he’d get up to. “can you tell i’m bored?”
@jcdehq
the night was passing in a blur for church. not because it was fast paced or particularly engaging, but rather because he wasn’t paying attention. his mind was fixated on his phone, wondering whether or not to play the gamble and release his promo tonight while everyone was on twitter and risk it getting missed amongst the saturated content, or just letting it ride a few more days. he set his phone down again, still as indecisive as when the night began. he needed a distraction, or at the very least a drink.
on his way to the table’s, he took a detor upon spotting jade. friends. that’s what they were doing this week and it left a bad taste in his mouth. regardless, she was more worthwhile company than the boyband ass kids he got stuck sitting by. “ c’mon it’s not fair that you’re out here lookin’ like that. there’s smokin’ the competition and just bein’ a showoff. ” he grinned, coming to seat in the empty seat to her left.
she was feeling uncomfortable to say the least. jade had skipped the red carpet, hoping not to be put under the media’s microscope but they’d tracked her down anyway. the true fans online seemed to be buzzing with excitement about their upcoming performance but everyone else seemed to be watching and waiting to see how she and her ex interacted. the band hadn’t been to a big show like this since before kit and jade broke up and she wasn’t exactly handling the pressure well.
while she’d been avoiding nearly everyone, she didn’t bolt when church spotted her because if anything, he’d be a welcome distraction. he always had a way of making her feel attractive, just by the way he looked at her. “since when is it a competition?” she joked, turning to face him as he took the seat beside her. he was right, she did look alright in the satin slip dress her assistant had picked out, though the sunflower yellow shade wasn’t helping with her mission of going undetected. “you don’t look so bad yourself. so, you into this whole thing or are you counting down the hours until we can get out of here?”
“i hate that this is going to sound like i’m making this about me-“ jay bit his lower lip, looking around at all the people around him, “but i just-”
“it’s not even stage fright,” he elaborated tentatively, “it’s just that i’ve never even been to one of these before. and now i have to be on that stage?“
“don’t take this the wrong way but....” jade sighed, thinking of her own upcoming performance, “the majority of them aren’t going to be watching you, they’re gonna be watching whoever is at the mic. i’m in the same boat. just play the music and don’t think about the audience. the things aren’t meant to be stressful, you know.”
WE FINALLY TRACKED DOWN JADE ANDERSEN
The Rose Quartz lead guitarist skipped out on the red carpet but VG managed to find her inside the venue and ask a couple questions @viralhq @lilyissms @siwonhq @kitwildc (sorta)
@armaqeddons
Jade had decided to skip the red carpet, knowing that putting herself on display would only open the gates for criticism. She didn’t want articles discussing her body or her clothes or her exes who were also at the show. She just wanted to go, perform, and get it over with. The ladies room at the venue was the frilly type with a lounge attached to it and various guests lounged around at the vanities, perched on suede poufs. They touched up their appearances, had a smoke, and basically wasted time hiding from the event. Jade was sat at the end, staring at herself in the mirror out of boredom and wondering why she hadn’t hired some kind of makeup artist. “Fuck, I think I’m gonna need help if I’m gonna get through this night.” She sighed, turning to look at Ruby who she’d spotted in her peripheral. Jade opened her designer clutch and took out the tiny silver pill case she never left her body. “You need anything?”
imsg: open to all
DAVE: so.. i need help
DAVE: who are you wearing for the AMA's? 'cause i was thinking on t-shirt and sweatpants until i actually googled AMA fashion
DAVE: the only 'formal' thing i have is military gear and i ain't wearing that
DAVE: please send help
JADE: i'm not sure i was just gonna pick it out on the day
JADE: but you really don't have any suits?
kitwildc:
“Exactly, you have no room to make fun of me,” Kit teased. “I could go from some fries or something though if you wanted to go out somewhere with me,” he offered, things had been weird between him and Jade recently, and while he knew why things were the way that they were, he couldn’t stand it.
“Sure, and maybe a milkshake?” She shrugged, accepting his invitation with a small smile. She wanted to take Corinna’s advice and keep things as normal as possible but whatever this was, it wasn’t normal. Normal was when they were together. Still, she was trying to move on for the band’s sake.
trcvls:
“i’m willing to consider polyamoury if you’d also like to marry them. that would really shock the presses,” he said between bites. his eyes scanned the takeout containers laid across the table and made a mental list of what he wanted, which essentially consisted of everything. “i can’t believe you ordererd all this food and i can’t believe you’re willing to share it with me.” if there was one thing travis loved in life, aside from aliens, it was food. he was generally healthy, but his love affair with chinese food was on another level. “you know this is all gonna be gone before i leave, right?”
“you can’t believe it? i’ll have you know i’m a very generous person. feeding my friends is one of my many hobbies so get used to it.” jade laughed, settling back against the couch cushions and switching to a container of lo mein. “alright, so i’ve talked to luther this week and now i need to know what’s been going on with you, so spill.”
kitwildc:
“They’re gummies, you can find them in any store that not Whole Foods right next to the smilies.”
“Okay, so you did go out with the express purpose of buying gummies, fair enough. I’d say that shit will rot your insides but I guess I’m not really one to talk.” Besides eating whatever she wanted, the amount of drugs she did would effectively make her a hypocrite but just because she didn’t care much for her own health didn’t mean she didn’t lecture others on theirs from time to time.
