To say that Rory’s tenth grade heart would have been pounding as she stood outside the Abernathy’s home would be an understatement. She peered up at the boy she’d crushed on for all of high school and beamed widely, her green eyes sparkling cider when she winked, her spirit light. “Don’t mention it,” she insisted. “I’ll be compelling, I promise. I am an actress, you know,” Rory teased, drenching the mention of her occupation in sarcasm and humility. Under the Georgia sun, she swayed slightly, clasping her hands in front of her lilac dress. “No, this’ll be great. Any… last minute embarrassing childhood stories I should know? Any Abernathy family secrets?”
“I have no doubt that you’d absolutely blow them away,” he smiles, rubbing her back. At her question, the brunette hums, clasping his hands together. “It depends. We could’ve just started dating so you won’t have to know much. Or, we could’ve been dating for months to years... which my sisters probably won’t be happy to hear, being in the dark for that long, but that’s okay. They’re big girls, they can handle it.” Jordan chuckles to himself, crossing his arms as he leans against one of the pillars on the porch. “How long should we have been dating?”
“Look, we’re not gonna settle this just with us,” Jordan expressed, hands on his hips as the rest of his friends exhaled heavily with him, exhausted. “We need an outsider’s perspective.” It was tradition, of sorts. For Jordan and a few of his close culinary pals to get together and play random ‘adult’ games once a month. This time around, the boys had gotten together to see who can beat the most world records. However, they needed a second opinion on whether or not a buddy of theirs painting actually looked like a pizza. “Excuse me,” Jordan called out, stepping before a person passing by. “I was wondering if you could help us out? We’re trying to decide whether or not this looks like a pizza, or it’s just... garbage.” “---Hey!” one called out, Jordan waving his hand and rolling his eyes. “It’s garbage to me.” @renata-ortiz

Casey grinned, “Movies were on the very small list of approved things, but amusement parks … I might could swing a day trip to Six Flags. She probably would love that.” he said, considering how well that would work. Tickets were expensive now, but for just the two of them he could probably do it. “I think she would love the backyard obstacle course, I’m just not sure if I’m creative enough for the backyard obstacle course … unless you’re offering to help?”
Jordan raised a brow, arms thrown across his chest in absolute interest. “You know what... I haven’t been handy in a while and it didn’t occur to me that building something like that is just as fun as... probably running it. ----So, why not? Count me in.”
maverickxcallahan:
“Jor– why do you have to ask?” Maverick groaned, rubbing his jaw with his free hand. Yes, he was in the mood, “This is why you’re still standing at this bar, babe. Because you ask way too many questions and you don’t just…let yourself live in the moment.”
Wow, he thought, brows bouncing for a moment. Jordan was definitely the type to think before he acted, always conscious and wary of others. It was a habit he had developed at a young age--- to always be proper and likable. However, now that he was older, times have changed... and it didn’t occur until this very moment how little he had to lose. After all, he could just blame it on the alcohol, right? Jordan sighs subtly, a soft grin growing on his features as he takes hold of Maverick’s shirt, pulling him into a gentle kiss. “You’re right. I do think too much,” he chuckles, leaning back as he takes a sip of his drink.
maverickxcallahan:
Maverick felt himself deflate, but he kept the award winning smile plastered on his face anyway. It had to have been the article. Jordan Abernathy didn’t want to make out with him? The Callahan’s drunk addled brain made that conclusion easily, and he handed Jordan the shot after just a moment’s hesitation, “Right, yeah. Kidding. Here,” he pushed the shot into Jordan’s chest, giving another smile, “Anyway, uhm….so you’re having a hard time doing what, exactly?”
Jordan took the shot after watching Mav’s expression closely. Something was off... not that the brunette could tell, really, but the quick change in subject was the only tell he could make. “---Talking to potential... wait, I’m sorry, I can’t let this go. Did you really want to make out? What’s the deal? You’re in the mood and I’m the closest to you or is something wrong?”
casey-j-roberts:
“So, I’m running an unofficial poll at this point.” Casey commented to the person nearby as he waited for his coffee, “To see if anyone else has ideas on things I could to this summer with my daughter that she would think is fun but also isn’t going to completely break the bank. Because so far at least half of my suggestions have been met with ‘That’s boring, Daddy’.” he said with a small sigh, “So museums, hikes, and bowling … all definite ‘no’s.”
“I hardly know anything about what kids would like today, but...” he pauses, recalling what he was into as a kid. Evidently, measures were different as life in a boys home weren’t as free as a normal kid--- but nonetheless, children were all the same. “I enjoyed movies and amusement parks when I was little... I mean, I still do today, but those were always a big moment for me. If she’s into some adventurous stuff, maybe create a backyard obstacle course? Did you see that video of that dad who did it? It’s absolutely amazing.”
"---Okay, seriously, what the actual fuck?” He laughs loudly, shaking his head as he stands and watches Liam in the batting cage, swinging like Babe Ruth. “I haven’t touched a bat in years and I’m absolute trash. You can’t tell me you’ve been secretly coming here every weekend just to show off.” @liamxlocke
"Thank you for coming,” he half-whispers, lips spread into a cheeky grin. “You saved my ass. My mom’s been going insane about her kids being ‘overly single’ and that she won’t have grandkids and that she’ll die before she’ll ever have the chance to hold them--- Yadda, yadda. I figured I’d take one for the team and show them I’m capable of dating. That I don’t just live under a rock, you know?” It was a stretch, to ask Rory for this big of a favor. Evidently, the most sensible choice would’ve been someone a bit closer to Jordan, but his moms knew all too well that if he had brought Isla instead, they’d know it wasn’t real. Rory was the best choice in Jordan’s eyes---- beautiful, bright, and incredibly friendly. After all, there was a free dinner and any favor of any kind in it for her... what could go wrong? @roryxcallahan
Jordan smiled at his phone, scrolling through twitter. “Look,” he turns with a cheesy grin, leaning slightly to the Moretti beside him, showing her a video that went viral. This was a tradition of sorts--- one that Jordan overly cherished. It was the sort of peace and quiet he enjoyed. Coming home after a long day at school, hanging out with his best friend doing school work or just enjoying each other’s company... what could be better? Even now, at twenty-eight and in his own home, he couldn’t get enough of it. “Anyway, I signed up for Tinder.” @islaxmoretti

Maverick put his hand on Jordan’s chest, grinning and leaning forward, “Babe – I think you’re real handsome. Dio mio, stop blushing, you look terrified.” Maverick took another shot, though he should’ve stopped a few drink ago, and offered Jordan one as well. His night wasn’t going well, unable to see David due to his own actions and now just roaming between bars, “I’ll give you this shot for a kiss.”
He blushed, a small smile following suit at Maverick’s words. He had to believe him now, right? “Thank you,” he chuckles out, shaking his head as he brings it back after rolling his eyes. Habits were hard to knock, and although a small part of Jordan believed him, he couldn’t help but react the way he usually did. At his follow up, the brunette turned out of subtle shock, eyes wide. “---You’re kidding right?” He replies, quick to then fall into a laugh after nudging him. “You’re the worst--- don’t play around like that.” It wasn’t that Jordan liked Maverick or anything, after all, that huge part of him was clouded by someone else--- but that didn’t mean he found Mav undesirable. It was the opposite, in fact. Still, he saw Mav as a player type--- despite hardly knowing his dating history at all.

“Hey, Sorry to bother you,” Dylan mumbled as she walked up to someone and eyed their hands for a moment, wondering if what they were playing with was what she wanted. “Don’t happen to have a spare cigarette and lighter laying around, do you?”
He looks up at the voice, brows raising before recalling that it was Dylan--- someone he couldn’t forget. He smiles, nodding as he fishes the lighter from his back pocket. “Only the lighter, unfortunately,” he shrugs, holding it to view.
maverickxcallahan:
Maverick’s confidence had taken a nosedive the minute the pictures from the concert had surfaced. He was faced with more anxiety over how the media portrayed him, and how he really didn’t have David as anything at this point. He’d been drowning his anxiety away in alcohol, and Jordan’s happy face was just a blessing at this point. He smiled a little when he was hugged, not moving away as he sidled into Jordan’s side, “You haven’t talked to anyone? Why not? You need to get yourself out there, babe. You’re hot. Flaunt it.”
Jordan cringed slightly at Maverick’s compliment, still unable to accept one at the age of twenty-eight. Still, he couldn’t help but fall into a soft grin after shaking his head and sighing. “I don’t know--- I think I’m waiting for a pair of eyes to last on me long enough to get my head out of my ass and just talk to someone. And before you say anything, I know that’s lazy--- I’m really just terrified.” Jordan scanned the people around him for a moment, taking a swig before turning back to him. “Anyway--- what about you? How have you been? Better than me, I hope.”

Maverick was having a day. It’s why he’d bar hopped all night, finding one of his last stops to be filled with a familiar face. He downed the shot he’d been given, weaving his way over to Jordan as he gave a small smile, getting probably a little too close, “Oh hey, babe. What’s a guy like you doin’ in a place like this?”
Jordan didn’t often frequent bars on his own--- especially when he wasn’t much of a drinker in the first place. Still, the male knew he couldn’t just wait to let adventure happen to him. He needed to go out and get it. So, here he was, attempting to mingle on his own in an effort to meet some new people and get comfortable being on his own. Not that the chef was dependent--- he just needed a little boost when it came to meeting guys. Since accepting his little crush on the head chef, Micah, Jordan needed to know where his sexuality stood. And to him, perhaps hooking up with a guy was the answer. After all, he wasn’t totally closed off to it. However, upon hearing the sound of Maverick’s voice, Jordan melted his anxieties away, happy to see him. “Mav!” he greeted with a wide grin, giving him a quick hug, drink in hand. “----Believe it or not, but I’m trying to be a ‘bar/club’ person. As well as... meeting people... or... you know, guys. It’s also been an hour and I haven’t talked to anyone yet, so... that’s how that’s going. What about you?”
