My most memorable game of Magic remains the one where I was attacked for lethal and responded by playing a forest and saying "okay but your guys got lost in a forest", which was then followed by an increasingly bizarre series of pulling random cards from our decks to "answer" the previous card.
Why make a promise not to reprint a set? I started playing 10 years ago and would love the chance to do innistrad, mirrodin, worldwake, original ravnica, etc. We sort of had that with remastered but now even those are gone. It would be great to have a yearly rerelease, even if priced at a remastered level, which would help those of us who missed these sets (or those of us who didn’t miss them but love them), and fill in gaps during UB products we dont love. Thanks.
Magic is a trading card game. Yes, we focus more on the game part, but it’s also trading cards. The collectability is a core part of Magic.
Shame. I want to draft Mirrodin block, but do not want to pay secondary market prices.

Would you endorse community made experimental designs for cards played in casual games, in similar situations to playing uncards?
I think if designers want to design cards and play test them in games specifically to do that, it’s fine. I would not rule 0 cards made by amateur designers into normal games.
As an amateur designer myself, I would agree. A lot of our cards are broken.
If anyone's curious how it's been going in Magic the Gathering land lately WOTC just leaked almost all the rare and mythic cards from their next crossover set in an unrelated set by complete accident

I wanted to ask about cards like squirrel sanctuary and the tdm dragonstorm cycle. Is there a name used for these kind of enchantments that just involve an etb effect and a way to return the enchantment to hand to reuse it.
There’s not a nickname that I’m aware of. “Bounce enchantments” if I had to say something.
Personally, I think of them as Trials, after the AKH cycle.
No, no, the cursed amulet has genuinely improved my life. Yes, I do bleed from the eyes when I lie down, but that's really helped me cut down on bedtime device usage. It's true, sometimes I can't tell the difference between my thoughts and its dark whispers, but this has really streamlined my decision making process. It is rather inconvenient to black out occasionally and find out that I've gruesomely slain another innocent, but I usually also find that my room has been cleaned and the laundry folded, so I can't be too begrudging.
Hi Jay, I'm looking at New Capenna again, and it seems like the color identities of the Riveteers (Jund) and the Cabaretti (Naya) should be swapped? Like, the people building and literally coming from a worker's union should probably be white, right? And the revelers, while red in either case, feel more black than white?
Cabaretti are the bad side of white (class distinction) and Riveteers are the good side of black (ambition). Remember also that neither are centered in those colors.
Also while we sometimes colloquially refer to the Riveteers as a Union, they are not actually one. They’re just the blue collar crime organization.
Jund made a lot more sense for the early street gang incarnation before 2020 happened.

Hi Mark, feedback on the pizza lands: I love how you incorporated the mana symbols onto the illustrations, but they're not lands. They're pizzas. Please pass along the feedback that lands should be land (buildings are fine). Sweet illustration, inappropriate use case. Thank you for always being willing to hear feedback, even when it's criticism, and even when the askers are being unkind :D

Nora controls Urza's Saga. Ashton casts Tide Shaper kicked and targets Urza's Saga. In response to the trigger, Nora casts Repeating Barrage, destroying Tide Shaper. What happens?
Answer: Nothing. Urza's Saga doesn't turn into an Island at any point. Tide Shaper's ability has a duration (as long as its on the battlefield) if that duration ends before the effect even begins to apply, the effects doesn't apply at all. Since Tide Shaper is no longer on the battlefield when the trigger resolves, there's no point when Urza's Saga will become an island.

Has there been any play testing on lowering the max copy of a card in a standard deck from 4 to 3
We’ve informally talked about it, but it would have pretty big ramifications. One, it would increase variance, which would make tournament formats less skillful. Two, it would fly into years of player education. Inertia is a tough force to push against. Three, we have over thirty years of design balance built around the four-card limit.
Four, it would lower demand.
This is the most real MTG post of all time cause I'll give you one guess which of these two cards was an absolute menace in standard and had to be banned and which one hasn't seen any play since getting reprinted
