HUNNIGAN IN THE RESIDENT EVIL 4 REMAKE.
Executive dysfunction in a nutshell
Party could lose not only the next election but a generation of furious young activists
Anjali Appadurai is a climate activist and movement leader. A star candidate for the federal NDP in the last election, she came within a few hundred votes of winning a staunchly Liberal Vancouver riding. Most recently, her campaign to lead the B.C. NDP recruited thousands of new members in a matter of weeks. As veteran B.C. political journalist Rob Shaw tweeted today, she “could easily be a high-level NDP MLA” and “may represent the future” of the party.
Appadurai should be a success story for a party that views itself as a voice for social movements and young people. An internationally renowned climate advocate who first made headlines as a youth spokesperson at the 2011 UN Climate Summit, Appadurai, now 32, is exactly the kind of candidate the NDP should be looking to recruit and elevate. Her clarion call for real and radical climate action has resonated with a generation that often feels alienated from the political process.
Instead, party apparatchiks voted behind closed doors last night to disqualify her from the B.C. NDP leadership race. It is an unforced error of epic proportions, one that could cost them both their government and a generation of young activists.
This is a story that veers sharply into inside baseball territory. How much does the public really care about the internal machinations of a political party?
But it is about more than the future of the B.C. NDP and the implications for the one remaining leadership candidate, David Eby, now the next premier. It’s about how party democracy functions, and more fundamentally, what happens when young people and social movements seek to seize the levers of power and make the radical course corrections needed to address climate change.

These individuals that the entrenched, established powers see as the most threatening are the exact people we want to represent us. Don’t let them get comfortable. Honestly this is a pretty strong endorsement for how effective Anjali would be as a leader. I hope she keeps at it
“you want to kill your circumstances”
I should show this to my dad
my fav action series trope is when the characters go to an ordinary store and this shit happens fdgjhdfgk
Ok but imagine the opposite
You walk into a guns store
You show the claw-teared three-days-beard Chad Broski clerk some fancy card
He presses a button below the counter
And the gun racks open up to reveal a snack bar
“Whatcha looking for? Revolver, semiautomatic, rifle?” *holds up a card* “No, I want the… special collection.” “I gotchu.” *shades shut, several panels swing open on the walls, showing cases of cards* “So what ya in the market for? Bug type? Steel type? Shining Charizard?”
No idea where this is from but it’s funny.
yooo where is this from, what is this animation
Northern Ballad by Andrey Vinogradov

This song has vibes of drinking the night before battle with your friends, knowing that most of you wont make it
Singh says that Trudeau must meet with the Wet'suwet'en and appoint a mediator. But he is silent about BCNDP premier Horgan who refuses to meet with the chiefs and is promoting the pipeline which is based on environmentally destructive fracking. In fact Singh also supports the pipeline and said “I support the rule of law” when asked about about protests last year. The rule of colonial law is how we got in this mess to start with.
This failure of the NDP to take a clear stand is why there is no enthusiasm around the party. The party needs to clearly support the Wet'suwet'en, as many unions have done so, and call for removing the cops, stopping the pipeline, and committing to overturning oppressive state policy against indigenous peoples starting with ending boil water advisories on reserve.
The NDP right now is so directionless and lacks a coherent vision. It’s also what sank Corbyn. It’s really sad and if Jagmeet wants to remain leader he needs to get it together, and get the provincial parties on side.
Holy SHIT it’s been a long time since I’ve logged in here
So this is post-porn Tumblr, eh?

the problem i have with Horwath is that she’s promising so much. it all sounds great but some of it is to good to be true and where is she going to get the finances for all of it.
Andrea Horwath’s platform is fully costed. She explicitly explains how every single thing she promises will be paid for:
This is a really ignorant complaint. I mean come on. There are charts upon charts of fiscal data in her plan on EVERYTHING:
Meanwhile Doug Ford is refusing to release a fiscally costed platform:
Despite promises, Ford unlikely to release fully costed PC platform
so higher taxes… great
Lets look at what the Ontario NDP’s platform actually says about taxes:
Do you make more than $220,000 as a single income?
No? No tax increase.
Yes? A tax increase of 1%. Over a $300,000 income? A tax increase of 2%.
Do you plan to buy a vehicle worth more than $90,000?
No? No tax increase.
Yes? A tax increase of 3%.
Do you own a large corporation?
No? No tax increase.
Yes? Tax increase of 1.5% and an increase of 0.5 to 1% on corporate profits . This tax rate is still lower than when the Liberals were first elected 15 years ago.
Do you own an expensive home that you don’t live in full time?
No? No tax increase.
Yes? A tax increase of 0.5% (its based on BC’s speculation tax)
–
These are the only taxes in the NDP platform.
its the first time ill be old enough to vote and i know im going for ndp, but my parents, despite laking any of the parties at all, keep saying their decision is between green, conservative, or liberal. they keep saying the ndp's will sink our finances "like they always have", yet i've been following your blog for some time now and have seen the evidence to believe that is bologna. how could i convince them that ndp is a suitable choice? sorry if you've answered something like this already :)
That’s a common misconception about the NDP.
In practice the NDP is the party with the strongest fiscal performance of any party in Canada:
The NDP, by far, have the most fiscally responsible record of any federal party
Also charts, because everyone loves charts!
Also right now the two NDP provinces have the highest GDP growth in Canada!
And if they complain about ‘BOB RAE’ and ‘RAE DAYS!’, have them read this:
The hidden history of Bob Rae’s government in Ontario
Excerpt:
When the NDP won government in Ontario exactly 20 years ago, it constituted the greatest advance for social democracy in North American history.
It’s true that British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba had all elected NDP governments and that progressives had won small victories in various parts of the United States. But none of them (I hope this doesn’t hurt their feelings) mattered in the same way Ontario then did. It was the economic heartland of Canada, the home of much of Canada’s industry and finance. What happened in Ontario impacted all Canadians. Now it was under the control of Bob Rae and the New Democrats.
Reflecting this reality, within months Mr. Rae’s government faced an unrelenting, brutal four-year onslaught that was unprecedented in Canadian history.
The attacks came from all sides. It is no exaggeration to say hysterical fear-mongering and sabotage was the order of the day. Launched within the very first year of the new government, the attackers included every manner of business big and small, both Canadian and American-owned, almost all private media, the police (especially in Toronto), landlords and lobbying/government relations firms. Their goal was clear, and they had the money and power to achieve it.
They were determined to undermine the government every step of the way, to frustrate the implementation of its plans and to assure its ultimate defeat. In all three goals they were successful. The considerable achievements of the government - often forgotten or dismissed -were wrought in the face of a deep recession and ferocious obstruction.
Reblogging again because my link to the Bob Rae story above linked to an unrelated twitter post. Its fixed now.
So basically what you’re saying is….
This meme is so good.

I listened to the debate in the car on the way home from work and whoa Andrea kicked ass. This is her and the NDP's time to shine!
~~~~
I still remember the last election. NDP still had a solid platform but Andrea had the personality of a cardboard cutout, making it much harder to connect with voters. Platform is one thing, but people don’t vote based on policy - let’s be real. People vote emotionally. People want to feel safe and secure and this is done with a party and leader with personality and trustworthiness. Playing it safe has been the NDP’s downfall for years, in elections that were supposed to be easily winnable.
In order to lock up this election easily, Andrea needs to relax and behave like a REAL PERSON, then people will warm up to her.
