I have literally seen them claim that Sepharadi and Mizrahi Jews who fled to Israel from the MENA region are "Arab Jews" who are misled by Evil European Invaders.
And if you try to explain that Arabs are actually a particular tribe in the Middle East rather than synonymous with the whole of it, and what they are saying is the regional equivalent of claiming all Europeans are subcategories of German and any European who doesn't identify as German is either deceived or really from somewhere other than Europe, they insist that you're lying and propagandizing and cannot be trusted.
It all comes down to thinking the American racial caste system is globally and historically universal rather than unique to the United States in this very particular moment.
Quick note: This isn't really accurate, especially the statement about Arabs being a tribe. That's a very outdated perspective relying on an old definition of Arabs being descended from tribes of the Arabian Peninsula and Syria. Pan-Arab nationalism effectively widened the definition to anyone whose native language is Arabic and identifies as Arab, which includes Bedouin, Druze, Alawites, Maghrebis, Egyptians, Iraqi Arabs, Gulf Arabs etc. A major difference between, say, Maghrebi Arabs and Iraqi Arabs is their specific dialect of Arabic because, again, Arab identity heavily revolves around language.
Kurds and Yazidis speak Kurdish, which is linguistically closer to Persian than to Arabic, so they were never Arab. Copts and Assyrians generally speak Arabic but still use Coptic and Aramaic respectively in their liturgies, and as groups consider themselves to be the Coptic and Assyrian nations that predate the arrival of Islam, so they don't consider themselves Arab. But notable is that being Christian (or Muslim) does not necessarily have an impact on whether someone is Arab or not.
As far as identities go, 'Arab' is great for demonstrating how subjective and internal-focused ethnicity and nation are. Who counts as an Arab? Whoever speaks Arabic and considers themselves Arab. This is really weird and confusing to Europeans and especially Americans given our definition of ethnicity is usually externally applied rather than internally defined. In most cases, though, it's also just flat out ignorance that there are groups in the Middle East who do not natively speak Arabic. Hence, yes, our definition of ethnicity, race, and nation are not universal.

Idk but the word race science is so neutral so some reason (maybe because i am not an american to understand the weight of that word), i feel like i had to list out all the ingredients to make it, and yes i do think those things exist before race science. With all the love in my heart, the literal word "racism" was coined somewhere around the early 1900s. The concept of race theory predates the first use of it. The actual use of the word, not the concept as a whole, don't piss on the poor. Oxford defined it in 1902, if that helps other readers understand that we're talking about a VERY old concept here, one that still has a strong foothold in the popular culture of many, MANY countries. It predates the first time someone even said, "this is racism," "this is colonialism," "this is colorism," it predates all of them. It was established sometime before even the 1600s. It predates the existence of the USA. It is not an "American word."
This is not a new term. This is a very old term that is just the name of a literal, actual, discredited former science of study. Please take the time to actually learn the history of race science before you write it of as "neutral" or harmless. It isn't either.
I know this site hates to look things up on their own, but understanding what OP is talking about starts with understanding that the words used are not meaningless buzz words or stand ins or metaphors or relative synonyms. The actual word, "race science," is literally a formerly accredited concept, formerly studied as a valid science. It is something that was accepted as truth by many, many, MANY people, for a very long time, and something that still affects people today. There are people alive, right now, today, who were uncritically taught this as children in schools, and passed it to their children at home, and so on. The 50's were not as far back as you think and things ingrained into science for centuries take active effort to remove. Race science is not a metaphor, it's an extremely dangerous and false system of beliefs that need intentional correcting and unlearning.
That also starts with not dismissing people like OP when they try to speak on the topic. If you don't understand something, try looking it up, or checking the comments. Itās notĀ āpeople who contour are themselves automatically racistā but that the desired face shape created by contouring is one that, at the end of the day, pretty much reflects existing white standards of beauty. A thinner, pointier nose, smaller chin, high angled cheekbones and (on occasion) smaller lips. Also if youāre darker skinned you have to use a much lighter shade of foundationĀ Ā thus ending up with an overall lighter face.

No, you are absolutely correct. In fact it is not even lowkey in the performance arts/entertainment world. Iāve known how to contour since I was 9, because I was in ballet. I was taught by an older Asian dancer who told me that I was already darker than everyone else, my face couldnāt look different too. So she showed me the basics, then left me with a picture of a white person as the goal to emulate.Ā
Itās always been explicit and intentionally racist in terms of what is considered correct contouring technique is to emulate white associated features. Which is not to say that contouring is bad, but it is good to ask ourselves why we do not contour to make our noses look wider and more distinguished. Or why we donāt shadow and highlight to make the face look perfectly round? While contouring is not bad ( and is actually very cool to literally be able to control the way people perceive your face, itās like magic) itās good to ask ourselves why we contour the way we do.

Contouring doesnāt involve measuring the shape and dimensions of the skulls of people deemed inferior nor does it involve passing restrictive laws about who can reproduce.
